I was thrilled to be invited to judge Best in Show at Newark and District Canine Society, I am grateful to the group judges who sent some super dogs through to the BIS competition. To my super stewards who guided me through and enabled everything to run so smoothly.
For Best In Show I selected the most superb Rhodesian Ridgeback Ch Priorpark Proof in Pudding JW, who I thought was fabulous, she just flowed round the ring and really scored for breed type, I could not deny her the top spot. For Reserve Best in Show I selected English Toy Terrier (Black and Tan) Witchstone Nasabe Strikes Back JW who again I thought was really exciting, on the final run off he really lifted his game and just drove around the ring and took the runner up spot against the top class Puli, who I liked very much but was tiring a little.
Unfortunately the puppy gundog group winner was unable to stay and the Utility group winner is owned by some very close friends, so they sportingly did a lap of honour. My Best Puppy in Show was awarded to the Affenpinscher Carycares Hot to Go, who came in the ring with such attitude I could not get past her, her handler got the most out of her and her personality shone, and she clearly was enjoying herself in the ring, so important at this tender age. For Reserve Best Puppy in Show I selected the very typy Norfolk Terrier Watercroft Sticky Affair. Another with great attitude and a real terrier personality, she gave her handler a bit of a hard time but at the essential moments was totally on point and made sure I could not overlook her.
My Best Veteran in Show was an old favourite of mine in Ch Woolytop The Wherryman ShCM ShCEx VW, the Bedlington Terrier, it’s a while since I last judged him and I think he has just got better with age like a fine wine, I could not deny him the top spot. For Reserve Best Veteran in Show I selected another old favourite in Sh Ch Vizslanya Sziena JW ShCEx OSW VW, Hungarian Vizsla who I have previously awarded a CC to, another who looked great today.

Good through the neck, body well made and balanced angulations front and rear, held her topline well.
