ENGLISH SETTERS

Thanks to the committee for the invite and the exhibitors for bringing their dogs for my opinion.

P (1) White’s Paudan Frankincense. 8 months orange belton B, pleasing outline, showing good proportions. Cheeky expression, dark eye, balanced head. Straight front a bit gangly on the move. Stood alone but still a worthy winner of the class. BP

SY (4,1a) 1. Reid’s Diersett Moon of the Skies JW. Orange belton B. Classic outline, in good coat. Long lean neck, straight front, good spring of ribs, short coupling, correct tailset. Good bend of rear stifle, correct foot placement on the move. 2. Naulls’ Nellasett Truly Truly. 15 month tri B. Well-presented in full coat, of correct type, good proportions and balanced. Excellent front well placed under body, correct shoulders and long upper arm. Level top line with good tail set. Unfortunate to meet winner of this class, a close call.

Limit (4) 1. Neath’s Albadora Total Madness JW. Upstanding 2 year old D. Just what I was looking for. In full coat, really filled my eye. Deep in brisket, level topline, correct proportions, kind eye, long lean neck, straight front, short coupled, good bend of rear stifle. A little unsettled on the move to start with but when settled got into his stride well. BOB 2. McLouglin’s Arabin Love Maybe. 2 ½ year old blue belton B. Very nice type, proportions and balance. Feminine head and expression. Good front and rear angulation, she moved well with correct tail carriage and action.

Open (6, 2a) 1. Whiting, Watkins, Phillips and Grant’s Glenmaurangi Cassiopeia. 3 year old tri B. She is of correct type, front and rear working together when on the move. Liked the head proportions and markings. Long lean neck, leading into good shoulders. Good spring of rib, well muscled up. Not flashy but the best mover of the day, being true on the in and out, covered the ground effortlessly just what the breed was bred for. RBOB

2. Watkins’ Albadora Totally Yours for Valsett JW. 2 years orange B. Compact body on good legs, feminine head. Excellent body with correct angulation, ribs, bone and feet. Level topline with correct tail set. She moved well with good attitude, head and tail carriage.
