Wirehaired Dachshund Club

The Wirehaired Dachshund Club Open Show, 27th September 2026

Thank you to the committee for this appointment, it means a lot to be invited to a breed club open show as a non breed specialist. Thank you to the exhibitors for your entry and for allowing me the privilege of going over your beautiful hounds. Thank you also to my steward Ian Smith, for keeping me in check and for keeping the ring flowing.

Kudos to all the exhibitors and the committee for a wonderfully friendly atmosphere, the sportsmanship on the day was lovely to see and the clapping and support from ringside was refreshing. In a time where there is a lot of negativity in our sport, it was lovely to be at a show where there was a fun and friendly atmosphere.

I was pleased with the quality of the entry and pleased also to report that there were no bad mouths or temperaments and all exhibits were in good condition. In my opinion, movement is very good at the moment and all of my principal winners were super sound fore and aft in profile and coming and going.
