Breed: Tibetan Spaniel
Luton Canine Association Open show, 4th January 2026 Tibetan Spaniels Thank you to the committee for drafting me into judge as a replacement, so sorry to my fellow judges who had to withdraw. Although I was not the scheduled judge, thank you so much to the exhibitors who respected my being appointed and honoured their entry, allowing me the privilege of going over their lovely dogs. Becca and Ruth Copper were my stewards and kept the ring running smoothly and efficiently - thank you. The puppies today were excellent, I was really pleased that all 3 were of stunning quality - if this is what breeders are producing, this breed is in excellent hands! Credit is due in this respect to clever and considerate breeding. Puppy (2,0) 1st Cooper’s Susu The Brightest Star. Really beautiful baby, showed really well for one so young. Balanced outline, lovely coat, nice hare feet. Beautiful head, correct bite. Lovely dark eye and correct ear set. Loved her expression, so snooty! Moderate bone, forelegs slightly bowed. Level topline held on the move, correct tailset and carriage. Covered the ground on the move nicely in all directions. 2 - Simper & Scoates’ Clydum Mighty Magic. Really raw baby who is a bit naughty on the move and needs to settle. Really pretty head, correct bite, nice dark eye and correct ear set - lovely feathering to ears and sweetest of expression when alert. Soundly constructed, correct front, level top line with correct and lovely tailset and carriage. I really loved her overall but she was a little unsettled today and was pipped by first on movement. Junior 1 - Simper & Scoates’ Clydum Magic at Midnight. Lovely soundly made bitch, all coming together. Beautiful head piece, ear set and use. Loved her dark eye and expression, bite correct. So feminine throughout, lovely neck into good shoulders. Correct slightly bowed front, into correct feet. Level topline, held on the move, ribbed well back. Lovely tail plumage and set. Soundly made all through. Moved really nicely and covered the ground. BPIB & RBOB. Thrilled to watch her win utility puppy group 1 under Daniel Roberts (Swanford/Souska) Post Graduate (4,4) Open (2,1) 1 - Copper & Ottens’ Ch Susu The Brightest Star. Beautifully feminine bitch who I have admired from ringside for a while now. So well made and looking now at her breeding I can see why I like her. Loved her head, dark ear and ear set. Slight dome to skull, nice neck into well laid shoulders. Good front with slight bow into correct feet. Good spring of rib and strong loin, it really fit condition. Lovely coat which is beautifully maintained. Good turn of stifle and straight hock. Lovely movement, really purposeful. Just lovely all through, a credit to her breeder and owner. BOB, lovely to see her shortlisted in a super strong group under Lee Cox (Vanitonia) Andrea Keepence-Keyte (Alandobel)
