Mid Herts Gundog Club

25th October 2026

Breed – Golden Retrievers

Judge – Miss Amanda Harris (Parkamstone)

Thank you to Mid Herts Gundog Club for inviting me to judge at their show, it was very well organised. Thank you for the hospitality and kind welcome. Thanks to Berkshire Downs & Chilterns Golden Retriever Club for a breed supported entry. Due to the storm it was quite a windy day so thank you to the exhibitors who brought their dogs along for me to judge, there were quite a few absentees.

Minor Puppy (8 entries, 2 absent)

1. Taylor & Tenn’s STRETTONHILLS TRUE NORTH – Light gold 7 month old boy, caught my eye as he entered the ring and on the initial look around stood out. Balanced and masculine head with a dark eye and black pigment. Good bone and standing on tight catlike feet. Lovely front construction, shoulders well laid back and good length of upper arm, good depth of chest. Level topline, tail set on and carried level with back. Developing well into his stifle. Moved well for one so young, just needs to tighten up on the move which I’m sure will come with age.

2. Taggart’s ALTINDAN XANTARA – Mid gold 6 ½ month old girl, sweet and feminine. Dark eye, head still needs some time to develop however shows lots of potential. Good length of neck flowing into laid back shoulders. Short coupled with a level topline. Well angulated hindquarters with strong straight hocks. Moved well.
