Judging appointment critique

Junior Handling Association 6-11 years 1 Connor Morris

This young handler age 9 presented his dog neatly and stood out showing confidence all throughout the class. He showed good awareness of where I was stood and moved correctly according to where I was stood so that he wasn’t obstructing my view of the dog whilst also making sure to move the dog at the right pace. This young handler made sure to get the best of his dog whilst also keeping a nice rapport with him making sure to pay attention to his dogs’ needs. He listened to my instructions clearly and executed it perfectly. I thought this young handler really stood out in this class and I was really pleased to award him first.

2 Isabelle Allsopp

This capable young handler presented her dog making sure to keep an eye on her dog. When moving around she moved accordingly to where I was stood so I got the best view of her dog. She moved her dog at the correct pace for the breed and clearly understood my instructions. She had her dog stood neatly and even though this young lady was on the young side compared to the rest of the handlers she showed clear confidence all throughout and I’m sure she will turn into an exceptional handler.

Junior Handling Association 12-16 years 1 Grace Rutherford

This class was a very difficult one as all of these young handlers were exceptional, however this young handler in particular stood out as she showed confidence as soon as she entered the ring and never obstructed my view of her dog. She presented her dog to a high standard and when going over her dog she was firm but also maintained a good rapport with her dog by checking in with her exhibit throughout the entire class. She moved the dog at the correct place and always had her eye on me to check that I wasn’t obstructed and that her dog was always in view for me. This young handler also showed good awareness of the ring and other handlers and dogs around her. This tipped her for the win in this tough class.

2 Phoebe Johnson

Another confident and capable young handler who also presented her dog to a high standard, they listened to my instructions very carefully making sure to get the best out of the dog when showed. This handler maintained good control throughout the class and never got in between the dog and myself. As well as watching me she also made sure to keep a close eye on her exhibit to make sure that they were okay. This handler could easily win other junior handler classes however this was a very close decision between all of the young handlers.

Bearded Collie

P (2,0) 1 Twinnings’ Tamjenta Ghost Protocol At Kaycee

Well, I was very impressed with this class as both puppies are top quality. This 8-month-old boy looked lovely in this class, when looking at him he looks correctly proportioned 5 to 4 and is well presented in a lovely quality puppy coat. When going over him he was just as lovely as he looked, he had a lovely build with a broad, square head strong muzzle and a good depth of chest. He had lovely angulation which was well balanced with well laid-back shoulders. He had a firm topline which he carried on the move. The floor proved quite challenging in the hall today which effected his movement however I could see enough to back up his construction which helped my decision overall. His movement was long reaching helping him cover the ground in an easy supple way. BP and nice to see him shortlisted in a lovely puppy group.

2 Edinboros’ Malandex Xquisitly So

This 7-month-old bitch was ultra feminine which is something I loved about her. She had such a pleasing outline which you could tell was the correct proportions. When going over her she didn’t disappoint with a beautiful expression and a lovely broad head. She held her topline level all throughout and was presented in a well looked after puppy coat. She had a lovely depth of chest and good length of body coming from ribcage, her shoulders were well laid-back leading into correct angulation which showed on the move, even though she had the same challenge as first with the floor her movement was still effortless. This was a very close decision and I’m sure they will both swap places in the future and I am excited to watch and see how they both do.

PG (4,1) 1 Collins’ Full Of The Dickens Winner Takes It All For Kingswud (imp) Deu JW

This is a lovely boy who I have judged before and awarded a BOB to. He is still in super condition and looks pleasing on the stand. His coat is changing at the moment, but he still has a nice overall finish and is well presented. Even though he is on the smaller side he is still correctly proportioned. He has well laid-back shoulders which matched the rear to give him that supple movement whilst also moving out with purpose. His topline was firm all throughout and his length comes from his ribcage. RBOB

2 Dobrowolskis’ Highglade Moon Child At Trileada

A lovely 2 year old feminine bitch who even though is on the smaller side is in proportion, this bitch has a lovely shape giving a pleasing outline overall. When going over she had a nice broad square head which is in proportion to the rest of her body. Her coat was beautiful and was well presented which gave an appealing image. Lacking in confidence at this stage which impacted on her movement today but I’m sure with time and maturity this can be overcome.

L (3,2) 1 Rivers’ Breaksea Time Lord At Bendale

This brown dog was presented in a nice coat, which was in good condition and gave him a nice overall appearance in the ring. This boy has an enquiring, typical expression and even though he stood alone he has a good shape and a balanced outline, with good proportions throughout. When going over him, he has a good head which is broad and well-proportioned to his body with well laid-back shoulders and his length comes from his ribcage rather than loin. This boy moved out nicely with easy movement.

OB (2,1) 1 Skinners’ Dychix The Rag Nymph

This lovely mature 5 year old blue bitch showed true quality and was presented in a lovely coat. She was true to the 5 to 4 proportions giving her a pleasing overall profile, even though she stood alone in this class she was a worthy winner as when going over her she had a strong pleasing head, broad and square in proportion to her body. She is strongly made yet she still ultra feminine. She had a nice depth of chest and good substance with a moderate length of neck leading into correct angulation front and rear allowing her to move out with purpose but also effortlessly. Her length of body comes from her ribcage, and she has a strong loin. She is lean and well-muscled which can help her move with as little effort as possible. BOB and then delighted to see her go group 1 but even more pleased to see her go BIS.

Polish Lowland Sheepdog

J (3,1) 1 Churchouses’ Mybeards Trickle

This 1-year-old bitch has a typical appearance, cobby and of medium size presented nicely with her body covered in a shaggy thick coat. Her head was medium size in proportion to her body which was rectangular, and her neck was strong and muscular with a good lay back of shoulders. She showed good proportions with a strong topline and good angulation as well as being well-muscled moving out in a trot. Her overall profile was pleasing, and she stood out in the lineup to achieve BOB.

2 Heavens’ Ponitaspring’s Abbey Road

This bitch was only 8 months old, she was presented in a lovely coat, and she was of medium size, she was in proportion with a rectangular body with a deep brisket and with a moderate spring of ribs. She was muscular, and her skull was moderately broad, slightly domed. She had nice angulation and she moved out well, maturity will come with age.

L (2,1) 1 Squires’ Mybeards Starstruck

This boy was well proportioned and had the characteristics of a Polish Lowland, cobby and of medium sized. More attention to presentation would enhance his already lovely features, such as a moderately broad head and his shoulders were placed with good lay back. He stood out with his lovely shape and correct proportions of 9 to 10. His hindquarters are well angulated, and he moved out in a nice trot.

OD (1,1)

OB (1,0) 1 Heavens’ Rozmaryna Pastereczki

This well balanced 3-year-old bitch presented a pleasing overall outline and was of good proportion covered in a nice typical shaggy coat enhancing her profile on the stand. Her head was of medium size and in proportion to the rest of her body, she had good hindquarter angulation which helped her move out in a nice smooth walk. This was maintained on the move all throughout. RBOB.
