Gundog group

Cocker Spaniel

Junior (1) 1. Thomas’s Crincoed Higher love. A very promising 9 month old blue roan bitch of lovely type, presenting a pleasing square and compact outline with good substance and depth for her age. She is developing nicely and gives a balanced, feminine overall picture. She carries a very pretty, well-proportioned head with a clean back skull and soft, typical expression. Her muscular neck flows smoothly into well-laid shoulders, and she has well-angulated forequarters, standing true on strongly boned legs with firm, thickly padded feet.On the move she covered the ground confidently and with purpose, maintaining her outline and showing good, happy tail carriage throughout. Overall, a quality youngster with much to admire at this stage and every indication of continuing to mature into a very worthy exhibit. BP, BOB, G1, PG1, RBIS & BPIS

Open (1) 1. Thomas’s Manlinson Happy Together. A nice 3 year old blue roan bitch of pleasing type, presenting a balanced outline. She has good substance and remains feminine throughout, with an overall picture that is typical of the breed. Carries a pleasing head and expression, with good length of neck flowing into tidy shoulders. Her front assembly is sound, standing on good bone with neat, well-padded feet. Would benefit from a stronger, better angulated rear assembly, which at times affects her drive and overall finish on the move. Nevertheless, she maintains a steady outline in profile and shows herself well in the ring.

Golden Retriever

PG (1) 1. Liggins & Hogges’s Swanavyly Popsy’s Legacy at Nunsbrook A well-balanced 3 year old dog of pleasing type with good substance and a masculine yet kind expression. Well-proportioned head, good length of neck flowing into tidy shoulders, and stands on strong bone with neat, tight feet. Moved steadily and true, showing balanced reach and drive and maintaining a level topline. A sound, honest exhibit who presents a pleasing overall picture.

Open (3) 1. Liggins & Hogges’s Silver Passion Glam Fashion at Nunsbrook JW. A beautiful 4 year old who caught my eye immediately on entering the ring, presenting a striking, balanced outline full of quality and true breed type. Masculine without coarseness, with a lovely head and kind expression, good neck into well-laid shoulders, and ample substance throughout. Moved with purpose and maintained a firm topline. A pity he flew his tail in the group, which detracted slightly from an otherwise excellent performance. A quality dog with much to admire. BOB & G4. 2. Charlesworth’s Purbarn It’s a Solar Storm Over Ginnylands. A lovely type, masculine 2 year old with a pleasing overall outline and good balance. He has a nice dark eye giving a kind expression, and carries a strong neck flowing into a level topline with good tail set. Well developed for his age, with a sweeping stifle providing drive behind. Would just prefer better front angulation to complete the picture.

A.V.N.S.C. Gundog

Puppy (3, 1A) 1. Walker’s, Lagotto Romagnolo Curlycruz Street Dancer of Lanokk. A very appealing 6 month old with lots of breed type and personality. Presents a pleasing, typically rustic outline with balanced proportions and an abundance of confidence for one so young. Carries a typical head with good expression and already stands at the upper end of the height range for the breed, so would hope he does not grow on further. Moved freely and positively, thoroughly enjoying his time in the ring. A promising youngster with plenty to like BP & PG2. 2. Roberts’s Irish Water Spaniel, Curlyco Cosmic Girl. A very beautiful 10 month old bitch with lots of breed type and a truly typical outline. She shows lovely proportions and carries many of the characteristic features of the breed, making a very pleasing picture for her age. Unfortunately, she was quite shy on the day, which made it difficult to assess her fully and prevented me from placing her higher. With increased confidence as she matures, she has all the qualities to do well.

Junior (1) 1. James’s Nova Scotia Duck tolling retriever, Good Gracious Me. First time in the ring for both pup and handler and a commendable effort. A promising youngster with plenty of substance and quality. At times a little soft in topline, but showed good reach and drive. Excellent tail length, good bone and neck, and very accurate out and back. Once settled, she should have a nice future ahead.

PG (3, 1A) 1. Jones’s Labrador, Exelby El Cajon 5 year old, Lovely feminine head with a kind, typical Labrador expression. Shows decent reach of neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Well ribbed with good barrel and short-coupled frame. Kept her topline well on the move. Good bone throughout and neat, compact feet. BOB & G2. 2. Graves’s Labrador, Hondo Lane Prince. Masculine head with pleasing expression. Balanced in outline and moved steadily around the ring. On the day was carrying less condition than I would prefer, which affected his overall appearance. Would benefit from additional weight and muscle development. Topline not the strongest at present and would like to see it firm with maturity and improved condition. Shows promise and should improve as he strengthens and fills out.

Open (1) 1. Williams’s Labrador, Dolwen Captain Jack. Strong, masculine head with typical expression. Well balanced in outline with good depth of body and substance. On the day was carrying more weight than I would prefer, which detracted slightly from his overall shape and ease of movement. Would benefit from improved condition to enhance his topline and overall definition. Moved soundly, and with a little tightening up would present an even more pleasing picture.

A.V. Imported breed register Gundog

Open (3, 2A) 1. Davies’s Barbet, Awelymor Miele at Barbamor. A beautiful 10 year old veteran who immediately commanded attention. Feminine head with soft, typical expression. Well balanced throughout with pleasing proportions and good depth of body. Moved soundly and steadily, still very true both coming and going, which is a credit at 10.5 years. Held her topline well and showed herself with dignity and breed-typical temperament. A wonderful example of a mature Golden Retriever. VG1 & BVIS

Rhodesian Ridgeback

Special Yearling (1) 1. Pritchard Jones’s, Mission Wild Wind of Luanda at Affrhoda. An outstanding 19 month old specimen of the breed and a wonderful example of a true “Ridgeback” outline. Excellent overall balance with clean lines, correct proportions and strong, athletic presence. Presents a very complete picture with little to fault in his construction. Moved with reach and drive, covering the ground effortlessly. I would have preferred a slightly larger crown to his ridge to complete the picture. Unfortunately, he was rather shy on the day, which detracted somewhat from his overall performance, but his quality is undeniable. BOB & G3

Open (2,2A)

JUNIOR (1) Whiting’s, PBGV. Glanbeuno Toute Seule 18 month old bitch, Attractive youngster with a lovely, typical head and pleasing expression. Correct harsh coat texture, well presented. On the finer side for bone and would benefit from more substance as she matures. Front not her strongest feature at present and would like to see more development and strength in forechest. Nicely ribbed with good hindquarters, allowing her to move with drive and purpose. Coat of correct texture and shown in excellent condition. Overall a very nice exhibit, though I would have preferred a better front assembly to complete the picture. Expertly handled and presented to advantage, the handler did an excellent job. 2. Humphries’s Serbonche Breuddwyd Mam. A nice 12.5 year old, honest dog who still shows good breed type and character. Pleasing head and expression, with a firm topline and well-set tail. He moved steadily and showed well for his age. However, time is beginning to show, and he no longer has the strength in movement or overall finish of his younger days. Nevertheless, a credit to his owner and presented in good condition.

She presents a lovely outline with great angulation, allowing her to move with drive and purpose while maintaining a firm topline. Her coat is of excellent texture and shown in first class condition. William’s Whippet. Eryri Sweetie Pie. An exceptional 2 year old bitch of the highest quality. Beautifully clean, flowing outline with correct proportions and a lovely, graceful neck flowing into well laid shoulders, allowing for excellent reach in front. Firm topline flowing into a correct tuck-up, accentuating her classic sighthound curves without exaggeration. Well muscled throughout, demonstrating both fitness and strength. Particularly pleasing were her well padded, tight feet essential for a breed built for speed and endurance. On the move she was simply superb, covering the ground effortlessly with balanced, low and driving action. True coming and going, maintaining her outline at all times. A breathtaking mover and a thoroughly deserving Group 1 & Best in Show win.
