Hitchin & District Canine Society open show Working critique 19.04.2026 – Judge Abbi Adair (Darebear)

Bernese Mountain Dog P (2 0) 1. Murray Etterbern The Tigris with Athollbern. Female of nearly 12 months, of good size and substance, and shown in good, silky coat, with correct scissor bite and dark eye. She stands on straight legs, has a good width of chest and level topline held on the move. Slightly overweight for my preference which I felt impacted and resulted in a rolling gait. RBOB and BPIB. 2. Owen Arvella Dazzling Donna. 7 month old female, whose overall shape and rear angulation I preferred, however as a young pup enjoying her day out, she was very exuberant and unsettled on the move (although very happy which was lovely to see). She has a correct scissor bite and her feminine head is developing well with more to come.

Bernese Mountain Dog J (1 1)

Bernese Mountain Dog PG (4 0) 1. Vaychkus & Vaickus Bernaroso Grand Prix. Male rising 2 years, with good bone and substance, masculine head and correct scissor bite and dark eye, leading on to a strong muscular neck flowing on to well laid back shoulders. Well developed fore-chest, standing on straight legs, and he has a broad strong loin. He has well-muscled thighs, with correct bend of stifle, leading to well let down hocks and short pasterns, which enabled his strong, driving rear movement. A would prefer a little more size in a male, however happy to award BOB. 2. Driver & Goodchild Pelhamdreams Yellow Ribbon Around Kingsfleet. 18-month female who has a feminine head, correct scissor bite, and a dark, expressive eye. She has very good muscle tone, correctly shaped croup, good front angulation, however lost out on RBOB due to her top line appearing a little soft on the move today. 3 Ganko Haribo Kielo Cud at Ninnilove

Boxer P (1 0) 1. Stretch Bantambox Honeybee at Braybox , 7 month old fawn female; another lively young pup enjoying her day out however while was initially unsettled on move, this improved. Her feminine head is developing well, with dark, expressive eyes, clean neck, square body with short back slightly sloping, good tail set. BPIB.

Boxer J (3 0) 1. Kuech Mellhawk Coachella For Boese, 12-months brindle female just out of puppy. Despite being young, she is balanced, her head is developing well, with correct angulation demonstrating strong, powerful movement with good reach and drive in profile. A little untidy going away, however happy to award BOB. 2. Wheeler Hipkins Charismatic. 17-month old brindle female who unfortunately had a tendency to run with her head down. She has a feminine head, dark eyes, with a strong neck, correct slope to her back, short loin and well tucked up with correct tail set. RBOB. 3. Catling Lottalove Nordic Gypsy King

Dogue De Bordeaux J (1 0) McKatherine Locoluxe Hope In Her Honour, female turning 12 months old tomorrow. Although slightly unsettled on the move at first, she soon settled into free and supple movement. She has a developing, feminine head with pronounced stop and short muzzle, is well muscled, has a broad chest and stands on strong parallel legs, with strong pasterns. RBOB and BPIB.

Dogue De Bordeaux PG (2 0) 1. McKatherine Locoluxe You So Totally Rock, 4-year old male, with a large, broad masculine head, correct oval shaped eyes, short muscle with correct wrinkle without excess. He has a broad and deep chest with a strong, muscular neck, well sprung ribs and broad loin. He has good angulation front and back which supported movement, however would have preferred better muscle tone on a male of this age. BOB. 2. Jelley Kenleap Calicite 2-year old female whose head is strong and broad without losing femininity, correct ear set. She has a strong neck and her ribs are well sprung, and a slightly tucked up underline. I would have preferred slightly more rear angulation as this impacted on drive when moving, however she moved with enthusiasm.

Giant Schnauzer P (1 0) 1. Staples & Killingback Figosky Wake Me Up at Novavitez, 10-month old stunning female with correct texture coat. She impressed me with her overall balance, appearing almost square with a keen and alert expression at all times with dark eyes. She has a strong but feminine head of good length, with ears correctly set high. She has a correct scissor bite, strong and slightly arched neck set cleanly on to her well laid-back shoulders. Her chest is deep, with a strong back and short loin, with well-sprung ribs and correct tail carriage. Despite her young age, she is well-muscled and she demonstrated free movement with enthusiasm, and good reach and drive as was expected from her correct angulation. BOB, BPIB, WG4, WPG1.

Greenland Dog O (3 3)

Leonberger PG (1 0) 1. Bailey Skjaergaardens Dance With Me Tonight JW (Imp Nor) 20-month old female who presents a balanced, feminine head and correct moderately tapered muzzle with correct scissor bite. Dark, oval shaped eyes with a kind expression. Parallel legs with close fitting elbows with strong pasterns. She has a broad and deep chest, covers the ground well supported by correct angulation, keeping her topline at all times. BOB.

Leonberger O (1 0) 1. King-Cherne Neveah Mishka Champion Tanyvska (Imp Est) 2-year old male, with a masculine head and scissor bite; I would have preferred a darker eye. He has good muscle tone and tail carriage, held his topline on the move, however front legs not standing straight today. RBOB.

Russian Black Terrier J (1 0) 1. Roberts Astra Fidelis Kodiak (Imp Pol) 12-month old male, who was trimmed and presented well, and showed me a strong developing skull, which was moderately broad with dark oval shaped eyes, correct scissor bite, with a strong and muscular neck of correct length, leading on to well laid-back shoulders. He has a level top line held at all times, with deep chest and well-sprung ribs. He has a muscular build all round, correct tail set, short pasterns and demonstrated good reach and drive once he settled. Superb temperament. BOB.

AVNSC P (3 2) 1. Mardle & Barton Winterklous Sun Kissed at Auldhelm. 7-month old, female PWD. Beautiful puppy, her skull is developing well, tapered muzzle with dark, round eyes. She has a correct scissor bite, with a short, strong neck, laid on to well-laid shoulders. She has well sprung ribs and short loin, well angulated and correct shaped feet, and correct tail carriage and light on her feet. BAVWNSCP, WPG2.

AVNSC J (4 3) 1. Kirk Adventurer’s All The Nights Like This of Belezaflour (Imp Fin) 16-month old female PWD with stunning presentation. She was a pleasure to watch on the move, showing me light but very energetic movement. She has a stunning head-piece of correct proportions, correct scissor bite, and dark, round eyes who were all for her handler. Strong neck on to well laid back shoulders, good depth of chest, and well-sprung ribs with excellent tail carriage. BAVWNSC, WG2.

AVNSC O (4 2) 1. Herring Bel/Lux/Nld/Dk Ch Womlu Worth The Wait with Heffalump Lux/Nld JCH DJW24 BW24 HCW 25 Rising 3 year old male Mastiff, who presents as a large and well-made dog, with a masculine, broad skull with typically short muzzle and dark eyes. He has a correctly arched and very strong neck, standing on well-boned legs, with a deep chest, and correct length of tail. Despite his size, he moves very soundly and covered the ground well. Perhaps carrying a little too much weight for my preference, and his topline can appear a little soft but this is often dependant upon how he is stood as he carried it well when moving. RBAVWNSC 2. Woodger Hightimbers Ticket to Moon 6-year old male Hovawart, with a clean head and strong, deep muzzle. He has a correct scissor bite and dark eyes, however these are rounder than I would prefer. He is well muscled, balanced in length, with a deep and strong chest, and moved well around the ring with good reach and drive.

AVW P (6 3) 1. Sharp, Sharp, Goodall & Goodall Mianna Full Circle with Martifers 10-month old Doberman female, with a feminine and well-developing head with correct dentition. She has the correct length neck, and stands on straight legs, with a short, firm back, with well-sprung ribs and undercarriage well tucked up. She has well-arched feet, is well-muscled despite her young age, and showed free movement covering the ground well, although a little untidy going away. 2. Dumbarton Howlvalley’s Cute Cookie 7-month old Siberian Husky female, medium sized, developing well, although a little longer in body that I prefer but this did not impact on her topline at any point. Despite her young age, she was shown in full coat and was well presented. Arched neck of medium length, shoulders well-laid back, upper thighs well-muscled, stifles well-bent and she moved at one with her young handler, and was quick and light on her feet. 3 Bentley & Pachecco Poderoso Zeus.

AVW J (3 3)

AVW PG (7 4) 1. Moore & James Starnewf Mr Dark Sky JW 21-month old male Newfoundland who is developing well. His masculine head is of good proportions with a scissor bite, correct ear set and expressive, dark eyes. He has sufficient bone for his size with a strong neck, shapely croup and correct tail set. He held a level topline at all times, he is extremely well-muscled and clearly capable of doing a days hard work. He covers the ground well with good reach and was presented immaculately. 2. Pamplin Jaqary Kiss From A Rose, 2-year old Rottweiler female, with correct dentition, dark eyes, a strong but feminine head with good ear set and correct dentition. She is well muscled, however due to a straighter rear angulation than is correct, she lacked the drive I would hope to see from this breed. 3. Fairclough Bernaroso Red Dragon

AVW O (4 3) 1. Mardle & Barton Auldhelm Charmed One. 3-year old male PWD, he has a correct, masculine head with a dark enough eye colour to compliment his coat, and correct scissor bite. He is correctly angulated with good footfall and demonstrates good reach and drive, and excellent tail carriage. His movement is very energetic, he is well muscled and was presented in very good condition.

AVW V (5 2) 1. Coldwell Ch/Jsy Ch Zentaur This Is Jam Hot (AI) JW ShCEx OSW, 7-year old brown Newfoundland female, who doesn’t show an ounce of her age. She is substantial bitch with a feminine head, and a kind, yet mischievous expression. She has a strong and muscular neck, well-set shoulders and good bone and substance. She has a broad and deep chest, well-spring ribs, shown in full coat and excellent condition and moves with excellent reach and drive holding her topline at all times. Congratulations for being awarded BVIS. 2. Tyler Milion Diddles From Newlaithe, 7 year old female boxer who has a feminine head of correct proportions, with a dark eye of good shape. She is balanced with a strong, clean neck, correct angulation demonstrating strong, powerful movement with good reach and drive in profile. Another girl not showing her age. 3 Bole Harvlin Hot Toddy.

WG1 - Doberman - Ingram, Imgram & Lack Jojovik Bera Brawnyboots 17-month old brown bitch. She caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring and she is stunning in every way. In profile, she has a feminine wedge shaped head, correct eye shape, well placed ears, nice strength of muzzle, muscular neck with correct arch, well laid shoulders with good fore chest. Her ribs are well sprung with a firm back and top line; extremely well-muscled hindquarters with good rear angulation and correct tail set. She moves effortlessly with great grace and power and looks like she could move all day without tiring. WG2 - Portuguese Water Dog - Kirk Adventurer’s All The Nights Like This of Belezaflour (Imp Fin); WG3 - Newfoundland Bel Ch Twillin Gate Villustrious Among Zentaur (Imp Bel) JW. 3 year old black female of good size and substance. She has a feminine head and darkest of eyes and impresses with her overall balance. She stands on well-boned straight legs, has good depth of chest, and holds her topline at all times. Moves well and was extremely well presented and handled. WG4 – Giant Schnauzer Staples & Killingback Figosky Wake Me Up at Novavitez
