English Toy Terrier (Black & Tan)

Many thanks to my ultra efficient Stewards, Mea Kendall and Catherine Rutherford, for their much valued support and for keeping it all running so smoothly.

Class PD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

The 1st of the challenging classes, being presented with two nice young puppies of completely different type, both having different attributes.

1st: Crowley’s Adargwn Verona. 7 months. Correct wedge shaped head containing dark eyes. Scores in size and overall shape. Deep chest, good front and hindquarters. Lengthy neck. Needs to body up but has plenty of time. Well set ears of good size and carried well.

2nd: Dicker’s Neerodan Last Crusade. 9 months. Completely different in type from 1 and a tad more mature. Pleasing body and coat. Nice overall size and shape. I preferred the finer head of 1. Confident on the move, but ideally, I would like to see more reach of the forehand.

JD (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: Pendlebury’s Ettology Stand And Deliver Of Pendlethrine. 11 months. Appealing long narrow, headpiece with pleasing back skull. Dark eyes. Nice ear set, shape and size. Good dentition. Sound in movement but would like to see more forehand extension. Super coat texture of a lovely deep tan.

2nd: Dean-Armitt’s Etruria I Say. 9 months. Pleasing size and shape and is most impressive when standing. Topline is still to settle. Attractive headpiece, especially those lovely eyes. Well bodied for age but not the depth of tanning of 1. Confident on the move. Forehand movement just needs to settle. Close call.

PGD (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: Dean-Armitt’s Etruria I Say. 2nd in JP.

LD (5 Entries) Abs: 0

Difficult class to assess, as there was considerable variation in type and size.

1st: Pendlebury’s Ettology Small Gods Of Pendlethrine. 2 years old and maturing well. He appealed for size and overall balance. His masculine head is not overdone being nicely wedge-shaped and containing fabulous, dark, almond-shaped eyes which capture attention. Clearly self assured. Positive and confident on the move, but a touch more forehand extension would be preferable. I admired his quality coat and depth of tan. RCC

2nd: Partington-Palmer & Palmer’s Winsome Flames Aussie Gold (Swed Imp). Beautifully presented. 18 months. Super head qualities and an excellent scissor bite. Well-set neck, arched above well-laid shoulders. Clean front. Good depth of tan. Standing, he looks so impressive, and although his movement was good overall, I would have liked a little more from the rear today. Notwithstanding, this was a close call, and they could easily change places on another day.

3rd: Warren’s Rhymswell Fields Of Gold.

OD (6 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Dixon’s Ch Lasagesse Dazed N'confused JW. At first sight, on the initial go-around, his easy, flowing action was instantly identifiable. On closer inspection, he is beautifully proportioned and of a lovely size. Lengthy head, with good fill beneath his dark eyes, a slight stop and a strong jaw. Good dentition. Excellent neck and shoulders, good depth of chest and a well-set tail. Lean, straight front with excellent feet; good body depth and a well-angulated rear. Moved up and back with a smooth, easy stride, demonstrating the effortless movement that first caught my eye. His beautiful, glossy black coat completed the picture. DCC & BOB.

2nd: Partington-Palmer & Palmer’s Etruria Hear The Word. Compact, elegant but masculine 3 year old. Good for size, with an excellent head with well-set and well-used ears. Strong jaws and correct bite. Correct neck and shoulder placement, with a pleasing topline and well-angulated rear. Good croup and underline, with neat feet. Markings could be more distinct. Produces a typical outline with correct overall balance. Sound and steady on the move, covering the ground well. A serious contender for the RCC.

3rd: Phillips’s Ettology Big Bang JW.

VD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Whitehouse’s Twowayshouse Dudor King For Dalmonde. 7 years. In super coat and condition. Balanced head contains lovely eyes. Clean straight front with enough depth. Super for colours and thumbprints. Correct in topline, rear and tail set. Well bodied. Moved extremely well. Push hard for BVIB.

2nd: Warren’s Pedara The World. 8 years. Of a good size and balance. Has the typical wedge shaped lenthy head, with correct ear shape and carriage. Well sprung ribs and strong topline. Well bodied and correct for rear angulations. OK for tan and thumbprints. Steady on the move and presented in good coat and condition.

PB (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Phillips’s Ettology Worth The Wait. At just 8 months, from the outset I appreciated there was a lot to admire. She scores highly in head, being of correct shape with appealing small, dark eyes, and uses her well-placed ears to advantage. Good neck and shoulder layback, with an impressive topline, super rump and tail set. On the move, she demonstrated correct forehand extension coupled with strong rear drive. In the challenge she moved up a gear, and I asked her to move again purely through admiration. She clearly is something special. Delighted to award her the BCC, after two RCCs I was told later, and Best Puppy in Breed.

2nd: Pendlebury’s Lasagesse A Kind Of Magic Of Pendlethrine. 8 months. Another promising youngster. Balanced on the stand. Her kind, wedge-shaped head contains appealing eyes. Ears of good size and shape, well set. Good, straight front with enough depth of chest. Typical topline, rear and tail set. Movement needs to settle but she has plenty of time. Super coat and condition..

JB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Phillips’s Ettology Worth The Wait. 1st in PB.

2nd: Crowley’s Adargwn Milano Cortina. 7 months and still very much a baby, with refinement in bone and substance at this stage. A nice size and shape, with a pleasing head, lovely dark eyes and well-placed ears. Appealing shiny coat with acceptable markings. Good length of neck, flowing elegantly into good shoulders. Moved with an air of confidence both coming and going. A promising youngster who simply needs time to mature and develop.

LB (5 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: Dean-Armitt’s Twowayshouse Touch Of Class. 3-year-old and reaching the zenith of maturity. Loved her size and balance. Appealingly, alert and attentive to her handler. Well-balanced, feminine head, well finished and containing appealing small, dark eyes. Ears are well placed and used to advantage. Super thumbprints and tan. She moved OK. Presented in super coat and condition.

2nd: Dicker’s Neerodan Thyme Bomb. Another nice bitch, mature at 5 years. Presented in super coat and condition. Good type, of a nice size and balanced bone. Would prefer a tad more length to neck. Appealing head shape with OK eyes and well-set ears. Nicely arched neck. Moved well.

3rd: Warren’s Lasagesse Angel Of Harlem With Rhymswell.

OB (6 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Dixon’s Ch Lasagesse Kashmir JW. Judged her as a raw baby at her first show and now a mature smart lady of excellent quality. I admired her size, compactness and style. Excellent head with strong jaw, clean back skull and contains super eyes and well-placed ears. Gently arched neck into well-laid shoulders; clean front and tight feet. Body is well ribbed and of ample depth. Ok forehand. Well-angulated hindquarters. Tail well set. Rich tan coat with well-defined thumbprints and pencilling completed the picture. RCC.

2nd: Harman’s Ch Nasabe It's On The Cards For Boimans JW. Three years. An impressive bitch, with excellent balance and a lovely overall shape, standing at the perfect size. Well-balanced head with a lovely, well-shaped dark eye, and she makes good use of her well-set ears. Well-developed body, excellent coat condition and good depth of tan. Moved well, although I felt she could have given more.

3rd: Love’s Lasagesse Whole Lotta Love With Tettoy JW.

VB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: Haffenden & Wood’s, Ch Witchstone Minnehaha VW. 9 years. It was my pleasure to meet this lovely lady once again, and remarkably she has retained the qualities and attributes she possessed in her prime. Feminine, beautifully sculpted head with well-placed ears and appealing almond-shaped eyes. Scores highly in size and breed type, with an impressive profile and overall balance. Sound and true on the move. Presented in fabulous condition and a credit to her owner. BV

2nd: Benson’s Ch Nasabe Lily Marlene JW. 7 another lovely one. Superbly put together and in wonderful coat and condition. Feminine head gives a lovely expression from super dark almond shaped eyes. In good jacket. Super body. Moved superbly. Pressed 1 all the way.
