Dachshund (Miniature Long-Haired)
My sincere thanks to the exhibitors for an excellent entry of 90, bringing the total number of dogs to 110. I am also extremely grateful to my two wonderful stewards, Grant Hughes and Elizabeth Camindade-Lavault, who once again demonstrated their absolute professionalism and ensured that everything ran smoothly and efficiently throughout the day.
SBD (5 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: Causier’s Captain Caos. 2 years. Pleasing head. Body is well ribbed. Good for neck. OK for front movement. Secure topline. Good turn of stifle. Liked his rear angulations so drives with extension. Holds a secure topline on the move. Well presented coat. Best Special Beginner.
2nd: Bater’s, Donnydax Run The Avenue. 6 months and close up and pushed class winner hard. Good head, eye and ear set. Ok for neck. Well bodied. Neat front assembly. Good length of keel and length of ribbing. He is very promising and this was a close call but on the move was not as settled as 1.
3rd: Turton’s Cornwalldaxs Midnight Star At Damoradaxies.
MPD (11 Entries) Abs: 5
1st: Whitfield-Roberts’s Dandydayo Cowboy And Kisses. 6 months and a lot to like. He is well balanced. Attractive head contains dark, well-shaped eyes. Correct dentition. Body is well ribbed. Nicely proportioned; enough neck and held a secure backline. Moved well. Promising younger.
2nd: Poole’s Findowrie The Field Marshal. 6 months. Many of the same comments as 1apply but he is not quite as mature. I liked his head and carriage. Decent neck and shoulders. Of good bone for age. He is well angulated and already has nicely muscled hindquarters. Sound and typical. Another promising youngster. Close call.
3rd: Bater’s Donnydax Run The Avenue.
PD (5 Entries) Abs: 3
1st: Beach & Dalton’s Llansansior Red At The Door. 10 months and in lovely red jacket. When standing, I admired his outline and balance. On the move he was sound and true making full use of his well angulated front and hindquarters. Neat feet. Level topline. Pleasing disposition and should have a very bright future. Amongst a number of super puppies entered on the day, I was pleased to award him BPD and BPIB.
2nd: Pilling’s Magnificent Mr Mojo. 10 months and maturing nicely. Well balanced, attractive head. OK for neck; well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm on the move. Body is maturing nicely. Body is well ribbed. Secure topline. Well angulated hindquarters aided strong movement.
JD (4 Entries) Abs: 3
1st: Drady’s Indiko Fire And Ice. 13 months. A smart youngster, with ample bone for age. Lengthy well-balanced head. Attractive eyes. Body has a good spring of rib. Good feet. On the move produces a purposeful forehand and strong rear drive. Pity he stood alone but must have a promising future.
PGD (5 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: Causier’s Captain Caos. 1st SBD.
2nd: May’s Scrumptious Red On The Dot JW. 19 months. Correct size and proportions. Appealing head. Prominent forechest. Well bodied and strong topline. OK feet. Enough ground clearance and moved well. Close call.
3rd: Bater’s All For Show.
LD (6 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: Brown’s Dolyharp Rossini At Garbosa. 16 months. Certainly catches the eye for balance. Super head qualities. Ideal for neck. Body is well ribbed and good length to sternum. Good feet. Moves so well demonstrating forehand reach and strong rear drive. Super coat quality. Delighted to award him a well deserved RCC.
2nd: Fairchild’s Restinim Mr Pip. 18 months. Another pleasing young male. Excellent for head qualities. Super B/T coat. Correct front assembly. Body is well ribbed; short strong loin. Just not as agile as 1 on the move but close up.
3rd: Broad’s Bronia Wolfgang Puck.
OD (3 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: Mitchell’s Ch Bronia Maverick. Super for size and balance. 3 years. Classic conical head, dark oval shaped eyes giving a lovely expression. Good neck into well placed shoulders. Excellent front, ribbing and short loins to boot. Tight elbows. Strong well angulated hindquarters. Moved out soundly maintaining an excellent topline and was foot perfect. CC & BOB.
2nd: Ham’s Minard Darque Red For Devondax JW. Nicely proportioned and sports a most appealing head which contains beautiful eyes. OK for neck. He has bone and substance without overload. Good length of ribs and sternum. Moves effortlessly with a decent forehand and strong rear drive from well-muscled hindquarters.
VD (2 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: Woodvine-Shone’s Ch Hanishan Fire Cracker. 7 years old and lots to admire. Produces a balanced shape when standing. Super for head and eyes. Well placed neck and shoulders. Body has good ribbing; strong firm topline. Sufficient keel. Tight feet. Admired his front and rear angulations. Impressive and sound on the move. BVIB.
SBB (8 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: Webster’s Indiko Eternal Flame. Black & Cream 13 months old. Pretty head of good length and finish. Enough neck. Well-developed forechest. Well bodied with nicely developed chest. Strong firm topline. Well ribbed. Impressive on the move and in this respect, she lead the way.
2nd: Gunter’s Darwindax Bobby Jean Of Welingtonway. 3 years. Larger than 1. Feminine head which is good for balance and length, contains pleasing dark well shaped eyes. OK for neck. Nicely angulated shoulders. Body is well ribbed. In super condition. Totally sound and honest on the move.
3rd: Church’s Chriskim's Golden Ticket At Floxie.
MPB (8 Entries) Abs: 3
1st: Fairchild’s Findowrie Field Of Dreams. 7 months and a charmer! For her age she is beautifully balanced. Feminine head which is correctly proportioned contains those appealing eyes. Super neck leads into well placed shoulders. Her body has good depth and ample spring of rib. Clean front and well angulated hindquarters. In this competitive class of lovely puppies, I felt she was the most complete.
2nd: Phillips’s Summerview Lucy Locket. 7 months. Another lovely feminine and elegant youngster and many of the same comments apply. I liked her overall size and body shape and her head for proportions and expression. Topline to strengthen. Good for shoulders and body. Steady, true mover.
3rd: Gunter’s Welingtonway Miss Mischief.
PB (6 Entries) Abs: 2
1st: Phillips’s Summerview Lucy Locket. 2nd in MPB.
2nd: Aneke’s Dachadam Diver Damsel. 9 months. Nicely made for her age. Her head is of a good shape and length and contains shapely eyes with good pigment. OK for neck shoulders. Well bodied. Good legs and feet. Once settled, moved out confidently.
3rd: Lander’s Songbirdie In The Thistle.
JB (13 Entries) Abs: 5
1st: Palin’s Sanmik Last Girl. 14 months with lots to like, and I found her the most complete in this class. She sports a beautiful head that is worth a second look. Neat front assembly with elbows well set. Strong forelegs and good feet. Neck flowing into well-laid shoulders. Superb ribbing and a strong, short loin. Well-angulated quarters aid easy, accurate movement. RCC
2nd: Fairchild’s Sanmik Preachers Cream For Restinim. 14 months. Lovely Cream coloured coat. Head portrays typical feminine expression with good bite. Body is well ribbed; good keel with depth and well filled. Topline a touch soft. Sound mover.
3rd: Phillips’s Summerview Midnight Sky.
PGB (11 Entries) Abs: 6
1st: Aneke’s Dachadam Hopes And Dreams. 22 months. Won a competitive class, which was challenging to judge. Pleasing red coat of good texture. Presented a pleasing outline on the stand. Well-made body, though I would prefer a tad shorter loin. I admired her head qualities, dentition, and ear set. In the final go-around she came into her own, holding a firm topline and producing steady, controlled movement, gave her the edge over 2.
2nd: Mason’s Crownlakes Million Dollars. 19 months. Black & Tan. In super condition. Elegant and attractive head with well-placed shoulders. Well ribbed, though a touch long in loin. Clearly appealing for her depth of quality both in conformation and presentation. A flashy mover, but she then lost her secure topline. Well-presented and handled to get the best out of her. A close call.
3rd: Holtom’s Ralines Lemosas For Rivandell.
LB (9 Entries) Abs: 4
1st: Mason’s Crownlakes Million Dreams. 19 months. A bitch of obvious quality. Lovely size and balance, with a beautiful, well-proportioned head and excellent eyes. Feminine and elegant throughout. Shown in very good body condition with correct muscle tone. Well-placed neck flowing into nicely constructed forequarters. Body well ribbed with a secure backline. Moved with accuracy fore and aft and soundly from all angles. Impressed on the table and continued to show herself to advantage in the challenge. BCC.
2nd: Holtom’s Rivandell Osha. 3 years. Another of lovely type and proportions throughout, with much to admire. Ultra-feminine head and expression with dark, almond-shaped eyes. Strong jaws with good dentition. Sufficient neck leading into well-placed shoulders and tight elbows. Plenty of width throughout with a prominent forechest. OK Feet. Well-sprung ribs extending well back, supporting a good, solid topline and short, strong loin. Well handled.
3rd: Way’s Ralines Ways And Means JW.
OB (12 Entries) Abs: 4
1st: Poole’s Ch Findowries Finesse 2 years. Well-balanced head with an alert, intelligent expression. Nicely arched neck of good length flowing smoothly into well-laid shoulders. Well-made front assembly, which is well filled in. Pronounced sternum and good keel, giving the desired depth and strength of forechest. Good ribbing for length and depth; well-muscled hindquarters. Moved true fore and aft. A worthy champion.
2nd: Whitfield-Roberts’s Dandydayo She Lives In You. 3 years. Feminine, dainty and attractive. Super Red coat. Good for topline and ribbing. Excellent feet. I admired her confident attitude which was demonstrated on the move which was positive and decidedly accurate.
3rd: Mason’s Ch Crownlake's Queen Bee JW.
VB (2 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: Mason’s Ch Tolberg Beez Kneez At Teckeltown. A quality Champion of 9 years, shaded red coat which was presented in immaculate condition. Excellent size and balance throughout, with a feminine stamp. Well-constructed front and hindquarters. Good ribbing with correct underline. Strong, tight feet. On the move she was sound and true covering the ground well in profile. Occasionally lost her secure topline. Handled to perfection.
