The third and fourth placed exhibits both displayed many qualities of excellent breed type and merit. While certain developmental considerations influenced today’s placings, all four remain very promising youngsters, and with maturity their future rankings are likely to be quite different.

IST Sangria Solana NAF TAF (Mr I G & Mrs L E S Burden). 8 month. Entire. Scores in head qualities, body and condition. Ideally would prefer him a tad shorter coupled. Presented in super condition. True, sound mover.

2ND Cranvarl Mr Bo Jangles (Mrs L Crane). 7 months Entire. Close up to 1. Another sound true mover. Produces a pleasing outline when standing and a true honest mover. Not quite the maturity of 1.

3RD Spiritisle Midnight Magic (Mrs J G Cushing).

1ST Alstella Golden Warrior (Mrs C & Mrs S Reeves-Sargant & Diment). A breathtaking young dog that instantly captured my eye on entering the ring. He combines excellent bone and substance while still paying full homage to the requirement of being “fine and dainty.” Masculine throughout, he moved soundly and was presented in superb coat and condition. His cobby body, well-placed neck and balanced outline all contributed to a most pleasing picture. His eyes are particularly special — dark, round and with just the right touch of white to create that precious oriental expression so desired in the breed. Sound, honest mover. A youngster of great promise and one I would willingly have taken home. Delighted to award him Best Puppy Dog, Best Puppy in Breed and the Dog CC.

2ND Jaschin Headliner (Mr S & Mr J & Mrs A Rooney & Green & Green). A well-made youngster who is maturing nicely. He has a super body with well-sprung ribs and a secure topline. Presented in excellent condition and handled to advantage throughout. He possesses a good lay of shoulder and pleasing forequarters, which he uses well on the move. Balanced throughout and moving soundly.

3RD Sangria Ninja Warrior (Mr G W Farmer).

1ST Cranvarl's Back in Black (Mrs L Crane) 17 months. A 17-month-old youngster with much to admire. He possesses an attractive head with the correct broad, rounded skull, complemented by beautiful large, dark round eyes that give the desired soft and oriental expression. His muzzle is well cushioned and balanced, completing a pleasing overall picture. Well made throughout with a good body, secure topline and correctly set tail, all contributing to a balanced outline. He moved soundly and true in both directions and was presented in super coat and condition.

2ND Somergemz Pawfection (Mr & Mrs K Calvert). A promising 10-month-old youngster and a close decision to the winner despite giving away a good deal in maturity at this stage. He has a super head with beautiful eyes creating a most appealing expression. Slightly less confident in himself than first, but the more I saw, the more I appreciated his many qualities. Well balanced throughout and showing much promise for the future. Maturity is likely to prove much to his advantage.

1ST Kassui Meyhem (Miss S Westwick). A pleasing boy with an attractive head and expression. He has good shoulders and chest, and while he could be a tad shorter coupled to aid the desired outline, he remains well balanced overall. His high-set tail was carried correctly at all times, and I admired his super hare-shaped feet. A true and sound mover, presented in superb coat and condition throughout.

1ST Somergemz Mister Tibbes at Mujerosa (Mrs A Skinner). 10 months A pleasing youngster with an attractive head and expression. He has good shoulders and chest, and while he could be a shade shorter coupled to complete the desired outline, he remains well balanced overall. His high-set tail was carried correctly at all times, and he excelled in his super hare-shaped feet. Confident when moving, he just needs to strengthen in hind movement. Presented in superb coat and condition throughout.

Post Graduate Dog

1ST Sangria Skywalker (Mr G W Farmer). 3 years. A 3-year-old who is so beautifully balanced in outline and presents a most pleasing overall picture for shape. His head qualities score heavily, sporting a broad, rounded skull contains large dark soft eyes giving that oriental expression so desired. Well cushioned muzzle, complemented by correctly set ears. I particularly admired his body, having well-laid shoulders. Body with good substance and a secure topline. Much to his owner’s frustration and the judge’s disappointment, he carried his well-set tail behind him on the move today, which was a pity as it detracted from an otherwise quality exhibit.

1ST Cranvarl The Red King of Jakconas (Miss J Tong). R/W, mature 3-year-old male, presented in superb condition. A masculine dog whose profuse coat gives the impression of greater size. He has beautiful eyes with a well-set expression, an ideal neck and correct overall placement. Well ribbed with a sound topline and high-set tail. Elegant and aristocratic, with a long, silky straight coat, excellent head and expression, and a well-balanced body. Strong yet fine bone, broad front, level topline and a stylish mover.

2ND Capevidles Chinook (Mrs A J Baranzeck). 2 years. Different in type to 1, although principally ticking many of the same boxes. Ideal for size and possessing a pleasing shape throughout. His skull is rounded with large dark eyes which create an appealing expression, although would prefer a slightly more open facial appearance. Good width to underjaw with the required turn-up and excellent dentition. Ample neck flowing into a well-made front. Impressive high set tail. He moved with confidence and carried himself well.

1ST Alstella Eadweard (Mrs C & Mrs S Reeves-Sargant & Diment). A dog I have previously awarded a RCC to as a youngster. Now 3 years old he has clearly matured exceptionally well. He won this hotly contested class on the strength of his quality head and expression, cobby body and overall breed type. His broad, rounded skull, large dark lustrous eyes and soft oriental expression are the hallmarks of the breed. Presented in super coat and condition throughout. Naturally, he was a serious contender in the challenge, but on the day his young kennelmate just stole the honours. I understand he sits on 2 CC’s and thoroughly deserves his Champion title based purely on the pure breed attributes he possesses.

2ND Ch Jaschin Paw Star (Mr S & Mr J & Mrs A Rooney & Green & Green). Mature, masculine and well-made throughout. Round skull of good size. Dark eyes, with good cushioning and width of underjaw. Well-set neck above sturdy forequarters. Secure topline. Good depth of chest. Level topline with correctly set and carried tail. Movement impressive in profile.

3RD Ch Jaschin Working Man I Am (Mr S & Mr J & Mrs A Rooney & Green & Green)

This was a very challenging class to judge, and each of these five youngsters possessed commendable breed-specific qualities. It will be interesting to follow their progress.

1ST Kassui Reiko (Miss S Westwick). 8 months. This delightful youngster immediately caught my eye and is full of breed type and quality. Loved the squareness of her outline. Feminine head contains captivating dark eyes producing a soft appealing expression. Excellent neck leading to well-laid shoulders. Secure topline with correctly set and carried high tail completes the picture. Fine, dainty and decidedly feminine throughout, she supports a superb red and white coat in excellent condition. Moved stylishly and with confidence. A very promising youngster whom in the challenge I considered for the RCC. BPB.

2ND Jaschin Cover Girl (Mr S & Mr J & Mrs A Rooney & Green & Green). 7 months and another very nice youngster and many of the same attributes of 1 apply. Slightly longer cast. Sound and true, she moved superbly and clearly most promising. Presented in fabulous coat and condition.

IST Rackuchin Helen Bach (Ms T Ms Pearce and Hann). 17 months and nicely maturing. She stands out for her overall balance and perfectly illustrates those parts of the breed standard which require being ‘smart compact and square’ - attributes that are somewhat lacking in the breed at present. This youngster is pretty, feminine and totally balanced, an exemplary showgirl. Of a lovely temperament she is an impressive sound honest mover and, in the challenge, she simply demanded the RCC which I was pleased to award.

Yearling Bitch

1ST Sharlarna Queen Butterfly (Mr Jc Choong). Almost two years old, she gives the impression that there is still more to come as she matures. She is impressively balanced with a pleasing shape throughout. Her headpiece is feminine and attractive, complemented by sufficient neck length. She is well ribbed with a strong body, moved very well, and was handled sympathetically to bring out the best in her.

2ND Kassui Havoc (Miss S Westwick). 19 months. Well made. Feminine head with large, dark eyes. Good reach of neck leading into well-laid shoulders. Strong, secure topline and correct tail set. Well made, with good bone and substance. A close call, but I just preferred the overall balance and squareness of body of 1.

2ND Spiritisle Queen of Hearts (Mrs J G Cushing). The more I saw the more I liked. She is so well made and of a lovely colour and coat. Well bodied, sturdy legs and has neat feet, good for tail set. She moves very well. Close call and pushed 1 all the way.

1ST Somergemz Oh My Ophelia (Mr & Mrs K Calvert). 2 years and another very promising youngster. She is confident and happy. Feminine head gives typical expression from beautiful eyes. Well-constructed throughout. Level topline. She moved very well.

2ND Sangria Dolly Mixture (Mr G W Farmer). 2 years Feminine and dainty throughout, though not quite the eye and expression of 1. Notwithstanding, she presents a beautiful outline in profile, with excellent body shape and pleasing angulations. On the move she is decidedly fine and dainty, covering the ground with grace, and was handled with great sympathy to advantage.

3RD Cleo Goscinska Przystan (Imp Pol) (Mrs P Dimitrova-Tsintsarova).

Limit Bitch

1ST Bentwood Iki Ningyo (Dr A Schemel). R/W Totally honest and sound she is a classic example of a dule purpose bitch. She scores in head, especially those beautiful eyes; impressive width of chin so often lacking in many exhibits. Well bodied, with an outline of correct proportions. Of good bone, and substance; she is totally honest throughout. Lacking some ear fringing, though this is only a temporary measure. In excellent coat and condition. Sound and true on the move.

2ND Somergemz Balenciaga (Mr & Mrs K Calvert). Nice type. Pleasing round skull contains large, dark and round eyes. Ample cushioning to foreface. Well set neck leading into a good front. Well ribbed body. She is elegant and slender and of balanced bone. Level topline; high set tail. Ideally would prefer her shorter in loin. Moved well.

3RD Adreeam Ruby with Somergemz (Mr & Mrs K Calvert).

1ST Ch Sharlarna Eye Candy JW (Mrs T & Mr A Quinn). 4 years. Scores in head qualities and expression which must be acknowledged, especially her correct width of chin. Well-proportioned body. OK for neck. Excellent tail set and carriage. Good bone and substnace throughout whilst maintaining femininity. She moved with such confidence in the class and then later in the breed challenge she surpassed my expectations with a flawless performance, asking for top honours which she duly received. BCC & BOB.

2ND Ch Norvanik Candy Kisses (Mr C & Mr D Van De Burgt & Strange). 2 years. Another worthy Champion with many qualities to admire. She is a true, honest mover, covering the ground soundly and effortlessly while working in complete harmony with her handler. Her balanced, well-cushioned head has ample fill, complemented by nice open nostrils, although I preferred the eyes and expression of 1. Presented in excellent coat of good texture. Well bodied. Well set tail. She moved around the ring with style and confidence, and always at one with her owner.
