King Charles Spaniels
Minor Puppy Dog 1
1. Jackson’s Amantra Thatchers Gold. 8 months. Ruby. An impressive masculine head with lovely eyes, ample width to the jaw, and an excellent turn-up. Head of correct shape. Good length of neck leading into a secure topline with correct tail set. I would prefer him to be a tad shorter coupled. Good depth of chest. Moved very well.
Puppy Dog 1
1. Spall & Clark’s Khatibi Ken Ya Believe I’m At LLapsttam. 11 months and a lot to like. Well-marked tricolour dog with a large head and good width to jaw, complemented by excellent pigmentation. Attractive round eyes, well set. Well-placed ears and excellent nose and nostrils. Secure topline, good depth to chest, and well ribbed. A touch squarer in outline would be preferable. He moved very well with good reach and drive. Liked his bone and substance.
Junior Dog 1
1. Bowles-Robinson’s Baldragon’s Gold Shot. 11 months and mature for his age. Impressive head beautifully proportioned. Round eyes which are full of expression being well placed. Good pigmentation. OK for underjaw. Neck is well set. Liked his forequarters and substance. Deep chest and body is well ribbed. Moved particularly well, especially in the challenge when it was most impressive. BPIB, CC & BOB.
2. Boyer’s Marchog Make Way For Ellinghurst. 12 months. A top-quality ruby sporting a rich, beautifully presented coat. Super head with very attractive eyes, well-set ears, and good nose placement. Lovely proportions and beautifully balanced, producing an impressive outline. Unfortunately, he was a real handful in the class and gave his owner a torrid time, making it difficult for me to assess him fully. On the odd occasion he settled, he moved true and sound, which made the situation all the more frustrating, ultimately limiting him to 2nd place. However, when recalled for consideration in the Challenge he behaved, moved like a star, so I was delighted to award him the RCC.
Post Graduate Dog 1
1. Bowles-Robinson’s Baldragon’s Pardon My French. 2 years Tri. Compact and cobby exhibit producing a balanced outline. He has a large, masculine head of good shape with a broad skull and well-set ears. His eyes could be darker. Good coat; bright tan markings. He possesses plenty of substance, well laid-back shoulders, a deep chest, and a level topline. Good rear angulations enabled him to move exceptionally well, although his topline just needs to settle.
Limit Dog 2
1. Jackson & Melville’s Amantra Tomatin. 2 years old and clearly there is more to come from this impressive young man. He presents a striking outline when standing and, upon inspection, is well made throughout. Large impressive head with dark, round eyes, wide open nostrils, and sufficient dome. Neck is well-laid and flows into well-laid shoulders. He holds a secure, level topline. Correct, powerful rear angulations and impressive muscle tone aid his effortless movement. Presented in superb coat and condition.
2. Jackson & Champion’s Amantra Kings Oak. 2½ years old. He scores in head and expression, with a pleasing masculine appearance typical of the breed. Impressive to examine, possessing super bone and plenty of substance throughout. He stands square and presents a balanced picture. Very much at one with his handler and clearly a biddable character. A confident mover who covers the ground well whilst maintaining his outline on the move. In splitting these two very nice dogs. I felt that 1 just had the edge in forehand movement.
Open Dog 1
1. Austin’s Baldragon’s Blinkin Hell. 3-year-old tricolour. Squarely built and presenting a balanced picture, with a very good head and sufficient rise of skull. Correct for eye set, ear and nose placement. Adequate underjaw. He has good bone and plenty of substance for his size. Tail set is a tad low. A cheerful, happy character showing well for his handler.
Veteran Bitch 1
1. Boyer’s Ellinghurst Kiki Dee. Ultra feminine 8-year-old presented in amazing condition, with a beautifully presented coat. Correct for size with a lovely head, rounded dome, and large, dark eyes. Well constructed throughout, although I would prefer a better lay of shoulder to aid forehand reach. Strong, straight front legs. She holds a secure topline, deep chest, and short back, which aid a pleasing profile when standing. A happy character.
Puppy Bitch 1
1. Morley & Hitchcock’s Shooting Star For Lizlanmor, This puppy is star quality and I could not take my eyes off her. She is ultra feminine sporting super bone and substance. I particularly admired her head qualities, with correct ear, nose, and eye placement. She has sufficient neck flowing into a well-constructed front assembly and ample chest. When standing, she presents the most beautiful outline and is so correct in many ways. Presented in super coat and condition. I would have preferred a slightly tail set for completeness. Unfortunately, when moving away, she appeared somewhat restricted in rear movement. Notwithstanding, she has many admirable qualities, and with continued maturity and development, she should have a very promising future ahead of her.
Junior Bitch 2
1. Rutherford’s Rignolla Devon Dreamer With Potbelli. 17 months old. A very feminine Blenheim girl who is naturally still maturing, but it is all there to come. She has good bone structure and overall size. To be picky, I would prefer her slightly shorter coupled. Pretty, feminine head with a well-domed skull, good muzzle, and super dark, round eyes. She maintains a firm, level topline and moved very well.
2. Lovel’s Lovetrac Diwali. 16 months. Handled sympathetically to get the very best out of her. She has a super tricolour coat and is ultra feminine being of correct size. Pretty head with a rounded dome containing large, dark eyes. Good lay of shoulder, straight front legs, and a deep chest. Slightly longer cast in body, but a sound and true mover.
Post Graduate Bitch 1
1. Kendall’s Headra’s Killer Queen JW. 21 months old Tri. Maturing nicely. Nice Loved her size. She has bone and substance and elegant with it too! Super coat condition. Secure topline and short loin produces the desired balanced outline. Pleasing head, wide jaws with correct finish and ample cushioning. Well placed dark nose; excellent open nostrils. Medium neck flows into well placed shoulders. Impressive rear angulations. Showed and moved so well even moving up a gear in the challenge to steel the RCC. I am sure there is more to come.
Limit Bitch 1
1. Bowles-Robinson’s Baldragan Remember Me. Tri youngster at 16 months. So feminine and ultra pretty. Impressive, well-shaped headpiece contains lovely eyes; dark pigmentation. Wide muzzle with cushioning to boot. Large nose with wide nostrils. She has ample neck, well filled forechest, good spring of rib. Would prefer stronger rear moment.
Open Bitch 2
1. Lovel’s Ch Lovetrac Kamilla. 3 years. A beautifully well-broken tricolour coat presented in excellent condition. She possesses a classic breed-type head, being ultra feminine. Low-set ears adorned with long fringes, and beautiful large dark eyes producing the softest of expression. Soft muzzle completing the picture. Although not the largest, she is well ribbed, strong, and full of quality throughout. Good chest and front angulations. On the move she is a joy to watch, moving in style with balance, and confidence. A worthy BCC winner.
2. Austin’s Baldragon Gotts Hattitude. A mature 5-year-old presented in lovely condition with a well-broken tricolour coat. Well bodied and possessing good bone and ribbing, giving her plenty of substance without losing femininity. I particularly liked her head qualities and gentle feminine expression. She stands balanced and true, although I would prefer her a shade shorter loin. Steady and sound on the move.
