I thoroughly enjoyed my day with your lovely breed. Thank you all for your support and your sporting good manners. I was blessed with two excellent stewards in the form of Jan Reynolds and David Allman and apart from the rather bothersome wind it was a perfect dog show day. I was told by some Labrador exhibitors that URC was always a lovely show – they were right.

1st Place 373 - Glaneils Enjoy The Silence (Mr D N Rigby). Best Puppy. A handsome, masculine youngster. Good head proportions, large nose pad and kind expression. Good depth and breadth of chest. Firm topline and good spring of rib. Excellent feet. Displayed some power and drive on the move. I was pleased to learn that he was awarded Reserve BPIS later in the day. Congratulations. A promising

2nd Place 359 - Oakmarsh Naughty Paws (Mrs L & Mr L & Miss K Blaber). A promising young dog, not the maturity of the winner as yet, in either attitude or body. Good breadth of skull, strong jaw and clean lip line. Strong, muscular neck, still needs to develop in brisket and rib. Good bone and nicely angulated hindquarters. Moved soundly.

1st Place 366 - Susqudilla Yankee Shadow (Imp Usa) JW (Mrs M V & Ms J & Miss R Mahon-Hunns & Middleton & Haskin). In my rough notes, I wrote that he was certainly CC quality. Very typey and beautifully balanced and he stands naturally with his legs well under the body. Powerful, strong body with typical tuck up. Excellent feet, well knuckled and tight. Muscular hindquarters. Sound and free moving and with a good, double coat.

Four high quality dogs in this class.

1st Place 365 - Sh Ch Arnac Bay Huron at Bergelle JW (Mrs M V & Mr J & Mr J Mahon-Hunns & Hunns & Newton). Well-proportioned head with good breadth of skull, kind eye. Strong, powerful jaw. Good forechest. Good breadth and depth of chest with very well laid shoulders which enable him to stand with his legs well under the body. Perfect topline and tailset. Typical hare feet. His profile action is particularly good as it is smooth and very effortless. Excellent double coat. Shows to best advantage. CC & BOB.

2nd Place 361 - Sh Ch Glaneils Count On Me (Mr S A & Mrs C L Broomfield). Close up and he too is nicely balanced and in great form and condition. Good skull, neat ears and well-developed nose pad. Strong, muscular neck and excellent forehand. Good spring of rib and some tuck-up. Well set, thick tapering tail. Sound and free moving. Reserve CC.

3rd Place 360 - Sh Ch/nld Ch Pixiesrock Mr Tumnus by Bleyos JW (Mr G & Mrs T Boyles)

Reserve (4th Place) 364 - Sh Ch Tideflight Floki (Mr J M & Mrs J M Hayes)

Class 89. Special Beginners

1st Place 374 - Tideflight Cassiopeia (Miss G & Miss A Tarling-Roberts & Ilbury). This feminine, junior bitch was shown in a good coat and her happy temperament was apparent for all to see. Well-balanced with good ribbing. Well angulated and with good muscle tone. Particularly good hind action, just a shade untidy coming back to me.

Class 90. Veteran (7+ years)

Entries: 1 Absentees: 0

1st Place 372 - Sh Ch Chesepi Waco (Mr D N Rigby). Best Veteran. A very well balanced dog of obvious good type and quality. Strong, masculine head with a kind, intelligent expression. Strong, moderate neck and good forehand. Pleasing, typical feet. Good rib and body. Sound and free moving.

Class 91. Special Working

1st Place 369 - Sh Ch/int/multi Ch Arnac Bay Hebe Wgc ShCEx VW Ew22 Ww24 (J & C Middleton & Mayhew). Reserve CC. Really appealed to me for type and balance. Rounded, broad skull and neat ears. Clean lips. Kind, feminine expression. Good breadth and depth of chest with a strong, well ribbed body. Very firm topline and well-set tail. Moved soundly with a fluid, powerful action. Quality, double coat.

Class 93. Puppy Bitch

Entries: 2 Absentees: 1

1st Place 362 - Glaneils Echo Beach (Mr S A & Mrs C L Broomfield). I see she is litter sister to the Best Puppy and they are sired by the handsome Veteran dog. She is most impressive on the move with an easy, flowing stride – she pleases both out and back and in profile. Good skull and eye. Kind expression. Good neck and shoulder and decent breadth and depth of chest. Has some tuck up and presents a most attractive overall picture.

Really pleasing to handle as she is well put together, nicely balanced and makes the most of her attributes. Kindly expression, good breadth of skull. Decent forechest and good forehand and she stands with her legs well under the body. Well ribbed with some tuck up. Very good profile action. Good quality coat.

Class 100. Open Bitch

Entries: 4 Absentees: 1

1st Place 358 - Oakmarsh Laurel JW (Mrs L & Mr L & Miss K Blaber). Typey and well balanced with a grand head and kind expression. Nicely arched, muscular neck and good shoulders. Well ribbed and these expternd well back to a strong loin. Very good topline, tailset and carriage. Nicely knuckled, tight hare feet. She impressed on the move and I was very pleased to give her the CC which I was later told was her second such win. Good luck for a third soon!

2nd Place 363 - Glaneils Don’t Worry Be Happy (Mrs C & Mr S & Mrs M & Mr J Broomfield & Broomfield & Mahon-Hunns & Newton). Good skull and kind expression. Ears could be neater. Very good breadth and depth of chest and strong, well ribbed body with good topline and pleasing tail carriage. Moved out well with a very easy, flowing gait.
