1. Vine & Hassell’s Urvum Hero at Beanalrem (Imp Ita). Well, what a terrific start to the day! 10 mth liver/white who gave me a real buzz and was very well handled here. All male, well off for bone and pleasing for size, he presented a super outline with clean neck of correct length to balance, firm back, good depth to brisket, ribbing carried well back, muscular loin, correct croup and docked tail of pleasing carriage. Quality head with pleasing breadth to skull, medium stop, expressive oval-shaped eyes, ears set on high, muzzle proportionate in length to that of skull and excellent dentition. I liked his angles both ends, he stands true in front on compact feet and he has a super forechest for age. Moving freely on the down and back, quite outstanding on the go around and uses himself fully as he goes. Good quality coat. In the challenge, he was the one who did it for me and therefore was my CC winner. He also took Best Puppy and I was thrilled to see he later topped the Puppy Group.

1. Mallinson & Mclaughlin’s Woodybrook Guy. 23 mth old black/white who has a super temperament, is of medium size and has sufficient bone. Pleasing neck, firm back which slopes slightly, brisket of good depth, ribbed well back and docked tail. Masculine head with good skull to muzzle proportions, expressive eyes, ears set on well, scissor bite and good beard. Would like to see more development in forechest, he’s a little untidy coming towards and when viewed in profile he could open up more, however he is accurate going away. Good quality coat.

1. Morris & Evans’ Beanalrem Gwyndu. Two quite different dogs challenged in this class with this 2 yr old black/white coming out on top. All male, carrying strong bone, he pleased in outline with clean neck of correct length to balance, firm backline, brisket reaches the elbows, ribbing well sprung, correct croup and docked tail. Head of good proportions with expressive eyes, moderate stop and scissor bite. Shoulders well laid, elbows close to the body, pleasing forechest, standing true naturally on compact feet and firm, muscular hindquarters. Moving freely fore and aft and has good ground coverage when viewed in profile. Excellent coat.
2. Toynebee-Smith’s Bareve Bronski Beat. 3 yr old who pleased for overall type and carries good bone. He presented a well balanced outline with muscular neck, firm backline which slopes slightly, ribs well sprung, well-muscled loin, good croup and tail for set and carriage. Most attractive head and I actually preferred this boy’s expression to that of 1; pleasing breadth to skull, medium stop, excellent eye and ear, muzzle proportionate in length to that of skull, scissor bite and good beard. Front assembly not quite that of winner and I would like to see more development in the forechest, however he stands on very good feet and is well made in the rear. Couldn’t quite match action of 1.

1. Johnston’s Sh Ch/Bel Ch Glenquin The General. Two 3 yr old litter brothers battled it out here with this black/white coming out victorious. Quality lad shown to advantage and excellent hands on. Carrying strong bone and presented with excellent muscle-tone. Balanced in outline with muscular neck of correct length, firm backline, good depth to brisket, excellent ribbing, well-muscled loin, correct croup and full tail of pleasing carriage. Well proportioned head with masculine expression; oval-shaped eyes of good colour, moderate stop and correct dentition. Soundly constructed both ends, very good forechest and stands on compact feet. When gaiting, he was clean on the down and back and covers the ground when viewed in profile and carries himself so well. Excellent coat. RCC.
2. Turnbull & Keene’s Sh Ch Glenquin The Colonel at Elagram JW. Another black/white and he too has much to appeal but is somewhat different to his brother. Well off for bone and shown here in super nick, he presents a differing outline being a tad shorter in back and his tailed is carried a touch higher. Neck of good length, firm backline, good depth to brisket, well sprung ribs and muscular loin. Attractive head with masculine expression; pleasing breadth to skull, moderate stop, good skull to muzzle proportions, scissor bite and good beard. He stands well naturally in front on correct feet and has pleasing angulation both ends. This boy also went well when gaiting and was handled to advantage here.

1. Skilbeck’s Woodybrook Samburu. 8 mth old liver/white bitch. Only a baby but a balanced girl with pleasing neck, firm backline, ribbing developing well for age, correct croup and docked tail of correct set and carriage. Feminine head with good skull to muzzle proportions, oval-shaped eyes, ears set on high and good beard. She has pleasing angles front and rear but needs to further develop in forechest. On the move, she pleased on the go around, is firm in the rear and ok when coming towards. Pretty good texture to coat for age. Best Special Beginners.

1. Jones’ Caldewriver Tiger Lilly via Mustwork. 12 mth old liver/white who is full of quality and was very well handled here. Excelling for type, strong in bone and a delight to go over given her correct construction. Lovely outline with muscular neck, firm through the backline, brisket reaches the elbows, ribbing well sprung, correct croup and docked tail which pleased for set and carriage. Most attractive head with proportionate skull and muzzle lengths, moderate stop, excellent eye and ear, correct dentition and good beard. Soundly built all through with good forechest, excellent feet and certainly didn’t let herself down when gaiting, clean on the down and back and very good ground coverage. Best Junior. Considered for the RCC.

1. Jones’ Mustwork Maximum Affect. Two liver/whites challenged here with this 2 year old comfortably taking the win. She appealed for overall type, carries strong bone and pleased hands on. Balanced in outline with clean neck, correct backline, chest of good depth, excellent ribbing, muscular loin, correct croup and docked tail. Very nice head and expression with pleasing breadth to skull, oval-shaped eyes, ears set on high, moderate stop, scissor bite and good beard. Well laid shoulders, straight forelegs, pleasing forechest and stands on compact feet. When settled, she moved out freely all through. Excellent coat.
2. Simpson’s Ida vom Holstef at Ovetil (Imp Svk). This 2 yr old is quite different to the winner, out of a smaller mould and carrying less bone. Neck touch shorter than preferred and not the flow into the shoulders that I was looking for, but she pleased for topline and croup and her docked tail is carried correctly. Feminine head with good skull to muzzle proportions, pleasing eye and ear and correct dentition but preferred overall expression of winner. Would like to see more development of forechest and this affects her action when coming towards but she went pretty well on the go around and is firm in the rear.

1. Turnbull & Keene’s Kimmax Two Kan Play at Elagram (AI). This was another class where very different exhibits competed. The winner was this 5 yr old liver/white who carries strong bone and I would guess is at the top end of the standard. Muscular neck, firm backline, brisket reaches the elbows, well sprung ribbing and full tail. Well proportioned head with feminine expression; pleasing breadth to skull, medium stop, expressive oval-shaped eyes, ears set on high and scissor bite. She pleased in front assembly, which won her the class; shoulders well laid, well developed in forechest, straight forelegs and compact feet. When gaiting, she opened up well and has good self carriage. Very good texture to coat.
2. Simpson’s Ijildez vom Holstef at Ovetil (Imp Svk). 2 yr old who I see is littermate to the girl who placed second in the previous class. This bitch has much to like, pleasing for size and is feminine throughout. Pretty good neck, firm in backline, good depth to brisket, well sprung ribs, muscular loin, correct croup and docked tail. Attractive head with very nice expression; skull and muzzle and proportionate in length, her stop is moderate, eyes are oval-shaped and she has correct dentition. She stands well naturally in front and has good feet but forechest doesn’t quite match up to that of 1. Pleasing profile action but winner had the edge coming towards. Well handled.

1. O’Brien’s Sh Ch Caldewriver Storm N' Teacup for Katillien JW. Lovely class with some quality girls present and was headed by this super 3 yr old liver/white. Totally feminine, just right for size, carrying good bone and shown in firm hard condition. So good in outline with clean, muscular neck of correct length to balance, firm backline, good depth of chest, first class ribbing, well-muscled loin and correct croup. Sublime headpiece with skull and muzzle proportionate in length, oval-shaped eyes, ears set on high and of medium-size, moderate stop and excellent dentition. She was first in line when construction was being dished out and she stands foot perfect whenever you look at her. On the move, as one would hope, she is accurate when coming and going and covers the ground when viewed in profile, using herself as she goes and so very well handled. CC & BOB.
2. Johnston’s Sh Ch/Bel Ch Glenquin Athena. 7 yr old liver/white who I see is the dam of the two boys in Open. Another quality girl who was so good to go over and presented in excellent condition and shown to advantage. She carries strong bone and presented a lovely outline with muscular neck of good length, firm topline with slight slope, good depth to brisket, super rib, correct croup and full tail which pleased for set and carriage. Quality head which is well proportioned, expressive oval-shaped eyes, moderate stop and correct dentition. Shoulders are well laid, elbows close to the body, straight forelegs and she stands on such good feet. Gaiting freely fore and aft and opens up well on the go around with such good carriage. Excellent coat. RCC.
3. Pinkerton’s Bareve Beyoncé

1. Morris & Evans’ Sh Ch Bareve by Kind Permission. 7 yr old liver/white standing alone here but more than worthy of company such is her quality. She appealed for overall type and is so good in outline with strong, clean neck, firm backline with slight slope, brisket reaches the elbows which are held close to the body, excellent ribbing, muscular loin and correct croup. Balanced headpiece with very nice expression; pleasing breadth to skull, oval-shaped eyes, ears set on well, muzzle proportionate in length to that of skull and scissor bite. Carrying strong bone, I liked her angulation both ends and she stands true in front and has very good feet. Covers the ground with ease when viewed in profile. Good texture to coat. Best Veteran and very pleased to see she later went on to top the Veteran Group.
