1. Hoskisson & Hinds’ Fabio Z Medunkove Strane (imp Cze). 14 mth old pepper dog who won this class with some room to spare. He appealed for overall type, is well boned and was good hands on. Muscular neck, characteristic topline, ribbing still to fully develop, well-muscled loin and tail good for set and carriage. Masculine head with excellent skull, correct proportions, excellent eye, ears of correct set and good dentition. Pleasing on the move and very well handled. Very good texture to jacket. Best Special Beginners and delighted to see he later went on to win the Special Beginners Group. 

2. Plowman’s Calmarlin Idun. Mustard bitch of 11 mths attending her first show and also a first show for her owner/handler. Carrying a touch more weight than would prefer but she has plenty to like. Neck of correct length to balance, acceptable topline, ribbing extends well back and tail pleased for carriage. Correctly proportioned head with feminine expression; good skull, eyes placed wide apart and low down in the skull and pleasing for colour and scissor bite. She is somewhat wider in front and this reflects when gaiting. Fair texture to jacket. 

3. Atkinson’s Poppipetalz Mrbluesky at Hullpride

1. Ness & Nicholson’s Calmarlin Valhalla. 11 mth old pepper who turned out to be the littermate of the bitch who placed second in the previous class. Carrying good bone and pleasing for type. Muscular neck, topline could have a tad more definition, ribcage of good length with ribbing still to fully develop as you would expect, firm loin and tail of good carriage. Attractive headpiece with pleasing skull, correct proportions, eyes of good colour, correctly placed and sufficient in size, ears set well back and scissor bite. Moving well on the go around. Jacket of good texture.

1. Sleight’s Finamor's King of the Road at Bonnybeck. Two very different youngsters competed here with the win going to this 15 mth old mustard. He’s at the teenager stage right now but he scored here in outline with muscular neck, typical topline, ribbing carried well back but still to fully develop and tail correct for set and carriage. Pleasing head with breadth to skull, expressive eyes placed low in the skull, ears of correct set and good skull to muzzle proportions. Very good front assembly both standing and gaiting and he also pleased when viewed in profile. Good jacket and well handled.

2. Jackman’s Carnkie Ragged Robin. Pepper just out of puppy. Well off for bone and another handled to advantage. Neck of correct length and well muscled, topline not quite that of winner, ribcage of good length and tail carried as required. Quality head with strength; broad skull, eyes of good size and colour and set wide apart and low down in the skull, ears set well back, muzzle of correct length to balance and good dentition. Pleasing profile action but winner had the edge coming towards. Good texture to jacket.

1. Harcourt-Morris’ Dainty Dandies Explorer at Lenacourt (Imp Nld) JW. 2 yr old pepper carrying strong bone. Muscular neck, pretty good topline although could have a touch more of a slope to the croup, however tail was carriage was fine. Pleasing head and expression with very good skull, eyes placed wide apart and low down in the skull and of good colour, ears set well back, strength to muzzle which is of correct length and good dentition. Well developed forechest and stands on good feet. Moving ok coming and going and when decided to go, he pleased on the go around. Jacket of good texture.

OD (4,1)

1. Butcher’s Ch Mishahda Mischief Managed. 5 yr old mustard who very much appealed. All male, he presents such a good outline and certainly has a ‘long, low, weaselly body’. Strong, well-muscled neck, excellent topline, ribbing well sprung, firm loin and tail just right for set and carriage. Skull of good size and with the desired breadth, eyes of good colour, set low in the skull and of sufficient size, ears set well back, strength to muzzle and correct dentition. Pleasing angles front and rear, well developed forechest and he stands on well padded feet. Moving freely coming and going and with a nice easy stride. Excellent texture to jacket, well presented and very well handled. CC. 

2. Milton & Kurg’s Ch Barton Dandies Charles Darnay (imp Esp). Mustard of 6 yrs who also has much to like. He is well boned and solid all through. Neck of correct length to balance, pleasing topline, ribbed well back and ribbing well sprung, muscular loin and tail good for set and carriage. Masculine head with excellent skull, super expressive eyes of good size, ears set well back and muzzle of correct length. Very good forequarters both standing and gaiting and he also pleased on the go around but winner had the edge going away. Good jacket. RCC. 

3. Davies & Kettle’s Bettyhill New Kid In Town

1. Davies’ Calmarlin Ophelia. 11 mth old pepper who very much appealed and was a delight to go over. Feminine throughout, she presented a lovely outline with characteristic topline, excellent ribbing for age, muscular loin and tail correct for both set and carriage. Most attractive head and expression with breadth to skull, eyes of good size and placed low down in the skull and wide apart, ears set well back, strength to muzzle and good dentition. I liked her angulation both ends and when gaiting she moved freely coming and going and she has good carriage. Excellent jacket. Well handled to take Best Puppy. 

2. Sleight’s Bonnybeck Miss Independent. 7 mth old pepper who is very raw right now and therefore needs time. Excellent neck, pretty good in topline but not quite the overall outline of winner and rib still to fully develop as you would expect. Feminine headpiece with eyes of good colour and set wide apart, ears set well back and scissor bite but would like to see more width to jaw. On the move, she went well enough all through and was well handled here. Correct texture to jacket which was well presented.

1. Small’s Carnkie Scarlet Pimpernel at Malindibeach. 12 mth old mustard who wasn’t in full coat on the day. She pleased in outline and has a good neck, typical topline for the breed, ribbing extends well back, muscular loin, correct croup and tail of good set and carriage. Feminine head with excellent skull, expressive eyes of good size and placement, ears set well back, correct length of muzzle and scissor bite. Well developed forechest, standing on good feet and moving pretty well all through. Fair texture to jacket right now.

PGB (2,1)

1. Atkinson’s Coupe D'hebe at Hullpride. 4 yr old mustard out of a smaller mould who has a super temperament. She has sufficient length of neck, ribbed well back, ok in topline however croup could be better but tail carriage was good. Feminine head with breadth to skull, eyes of good colour and placed low down in the skull, ears set well back, muzzle of correct length and good dentition. On the move, she pleased when coming and going and went well enough when viewed in profile. 

LB (2,1)

1. Kurg & Milton’s Etsill Evie JW. Quality pepper of 2 yrs. This girl appealed for overall type and was so good hands on. Strong, muscular neck, topline low at the shoulders with correct arch over the loins and slight slope to croup, excellent ribbing and tail set and carried just right. Feminine headpiece with good breadth to skull, the best of eyes and ears, strong muzzle of correct length to balance and good dentition. Well laid shoulders, good forechest and firm, muscular hindquarters with hocks well let down. Super strong rear on the move and she also pleased on the go around and has good carriage. Excellent jacket and presentation. RCC.

OB (9,3)

1. Ness & Nicholson’s Barton Dandies Marianne Dashwood. 6 yr old pepper who presented just the outline I was looking for with the long, low weaselly body as outlined in the standard. She is strongly built all through yet still retaining femininity. Muscular neck of correct length to balance, excellent topline, well sprung ribbing, firm well-muscled loin and tail set and carried just as you would wish. First class head and expression; excellent skull, intelligent eyes of good size and colour and placed low down in the skull, ears set well back, strong muzzle of correct length and good dentition. Soundly constructed both ends and well developed in forechest. When gaiting, she was nice and free fore and aft and moved out well on the go around with excellent carriage. CC & BOB. 

2. Sleight’s Ch Finamor's Voulez Vous with Bonnybeck JW. This 2 yr old mustard is another who appealed and she too, was a pleasure to go over. Weaselly in outline with correct length of neck, characteristic topline, ribbing carried well back, firm loin and tail pleased for both set and carriage. Attractive headpiece with well developed skull of good breadth, eyes correct for size, set and colour, ears set well back, muzzle of correct length and with strength and good dentition, however overall winner had the edge in expression for me. She is well made front and rear and stands on well padded feet. On the move, she moved freely coming and going and also pleased on the go around and was very well handled here. Good quality jacket and presentation. 

3. Jackman’s Dryfevalley Willow at Carnkie ShCEx

VB (2,1)

1. Atkinson’s Kingcottage Alberline West at Hullpride. 12 yr old pepper bitch who is feminine all through. Muscular neck which is sufficiently long, low at the shoulders and topline rises but would like to see a touch more slope to croup. Pleasing skull to muzzle proportions but there could be more breadth of skull to enhance, eyes are good for colour and set wide apart and dentition is correct. Jacket of good texture. Age is beginning to catch up with her but she moved pretty well all through and was certainly enjoying her time in the ring. Best Veteran.
