Special Awards

Class A. Special Award JD/B (1,0)

1. Broomfield’s Glaneils Echo Beach

Promising brown bitch pup of 7 mths who was standing alone here but she is more than worthy of having company to challenge. She pleased in outline with neck of correct length to balance, firm topline with hindquarters slightly higher than withers, ribbing developing as it should but still to fully drop in brisket as you would expect, muscular loin and tail pleased for both set and carriage. Feminine headpiece with good skull to muzzle proportions, eyes placed wide apart, ears of correct set and excellent dentition. Pleasing angulation both ends and she stands true in front on excellent feet. On the move, she was clean when coming and going and had a nice easy length of stride when viewed in profile. Thick coat with dense woolly undercoat.

Class B. Special Award PGD/B (9,1)

1. Corcoran & Jones’ Oakmarsh Kingsley Adsila. 2 yr old brown bitch who was very well handled here and so good hands on. Presenting a pleasing outline with strong neck of moderate length, firm through the topline, good depth to chest, well sprung ribbing, short muscular loin and tail correct for set and carriage. Totally feminine in head with correct skull to muzzle proportions, pleasing eye and ear, pointed muzzle and scissor bite. Carrying good bone, she stands straight in front on very good feet and was well muscled throughout. Pleasing action on the go around. Excellent quality coat.

2. Hewitson’s Melseed Dont Stop Believing. 2 yr old brown who was also shown to advantage and close up to the winner here. Balanced in outline with strong neck of medium length, firm topline, brisket reaches the elbows, pleasing ribbing, well-muscled loin and tail good for set and carriage. Nicely proportioned head with feminine expression, eyes are placed well apart, very good ears for size and set, moderate stop and scissor bite. I liked her angles front and rear and she stands well naturally in front on good feet but winner just had the edge in forechest. Moves out well when viewed in profile but not quite down and back action of 1. Good coat.

3. Baxandall’s Battsrock So Fine from Sharbae

Class C. Special Award OD/B (9,3)

1. Broomfield, Mahon-Hunns & Newton’s Glaneils Don’t Worry Be Happy. Three pleasing girls headed this class, although they are all quite different. This 4 yr old sedge came out on top and she was particularly well handled here. I thought her good for overall type, well off for bone and so very well balanced. Neck of moderate length, firm level topline, good depth to brisket, excellent ribbing, muscular loin and tail pleased for set and carriage. Balanced headpiece with feminine expression, excellent skull, ears set wide apart, very good ears, correct pointed muzzle and scissor bite. Well laid shoulders, elbows close to the body, straight forelegs, excellent feet and well developed forechest. Moving freely on the down and back and very good length of stride on the go around. Super coat.

2. Thompson’s Sh Ch Arnac Bay Harvest. 7 yr old brown who also appealed and is another who is so good for type, carries very good bone and substance and is excellent for balance. Strong, muscular neck, firm backline, good depth to chest, well sprung ribbing, short in the couplings and tail good for both set and carriage. Lovely head and expression; good skull to muzzle proportions, moderate stop, eyes are placed well apart, ears correct for size and set, distinctive muzzle shape and correct dentition. I liked her angulation front and rear and she stands true in front on the best of feet. Moving soundly but didn’t seem quite as focused when gaiting and therefore didn’t give her all. Super quality coat with desired oily texture and dense woolly undercoat.

3. Blaber’s Oakmarsh Laurel JW
