HUNGARIAN WIREHAIRED VIZSLA — BREED CRITIQUE- Scottish Kennel Club

It was a pleasure to judge the Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla. I was looking for the qualities described in the Royal Kennel Club standard: a medium-sized, distinguished, wire-coated dog with a robust build and stronger bone than the shorthaired Vizsla, whilst remaining harmonious and functional.

Construction is particularly important in this working breed. I was looking for well-laid, muscular shoulders, straight forelegs, a strong and well-proportioned body,a long with economic correctness movement.

Lots to like in this dog. A moderate, well-substantial male with good bone and plenty of the robust construction required by the breed. I particularly liked his head, which has good proportions and the characteristic Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla expression.

Good furnishings and an appropriately harsh jacket,. The chest still needs to drop and develop further to give the depth

Moved okay, although a little untidy today. I would like to see greater animation and a more flowing, ground-covering action with stronger rear drive.

A pleasing dog with plenty of quality and substance.

A very typey dog with many of the qualities I look for in the breed. Strong bone and good substance, together with a well-furnished, characteristic head.

Straight front and good overall construction. straight forelegs with well-laid, muscular shoulders, and I liked the front construction.

I would have liked more positivity on the move with more animation and flowing and ground-covering movement with strong rear drive, and I would have liked to see him show this more positively today.

Nevertheless, a quality dog

CLASS — PUPPY BITCH — 1 Entry

A smart puppy full of breed type. She is a little up on legs at the moment, but still has a very pleasing overall picture and plenty of promise.

Super head with plenty of characteristic furnishings. Good reach of neck and moderate angles, giving her a good foundation at this stage.

At this age I would expect the body and chest to continue developing considerably. The standard calls for a strong body with a deep chest reaching at least to the elbows, so she has plenty of time to mature into this.

A very promising young bitch and a worthy Best Puppy.

A moderate bitch with good overall breed type. The head is well proportioned and nicely furnished, giving the characteristic appearance I was looking for.

Good shoulder placement and a pleasing overall construction. The chest needs to drop further to achieve the depth as she matures.

Steady on the move, although I would like to see more drive from behind. Showing an animated, flowing, ground-covering movement with strong rear driving action.

A good quality bitch with plenty to like.

CLASS — OPEN BITCH — 2 Entries

1st — SH CH ENRYB SKYE BLUE — J Elders Best BITCH & BEST OF BREED

A super Champion bitch and my star of the day.

She has excellent breed type and plenty of substance whilst remaining feminine. Strong through the neck, with a firm topline and very good overall balance.

I particularly liked the balance between her front and rear construction. moderately angulated, well-developed hindquarters, and she brings these elements together very effectively.

She moved very well with an animated, flowing action, good ground coverage and strong rear drive.

A super Champion with correct construction and excellent movement. I was delighted to award her the Best Bitch and ultimately Best of Breed.

2nd — VERNUM VENTULUS HANGA AT GENLUSA (IMP HUN) — Mrs D Wearing

A good bitch with good breed characteristics and a pleasing overall picture. Harsh jacket deep chest and moderate angulations all through correct furnishings on head . She moved better in this class , keeping it together .
