Driffield Championship Show – Junior Stakes

I was absolutely spoilt for choice in both the Dog and Bitch classes, with so much quality on offer that I genuinely could have handed out more red cards. I was delighted with my final line-ups in both classes, which represented a lovely variety of breeds, all shown in excellent condition and with great breed type.

Dogs

1st – PIKE, Mrs G, PIKE, Mr Stephen & WOODS, Ms Rebecca – Penbro The Viscount Eivisah

A very smart young Miniature Schnauzer who immediately appealed for his balanced and well-proportioned outline. He has a pleasing head with good proportions, enhanced by correct furnishings, and a moderate length of neck flowing into a compact and balanced body. Strong, well-muscled hindquarters gave him plenty of power and propulsion on the move, where he covered the ground with purpose and confidence. Loved his attitude and ring presence; a young dog who really knew how to make the most of himself.

2nd – HOWARD, Miss H L – Tameron Mr Amouage

Another gorgeous youngster, this Shih Tzu was full of character and possessed that all-important “look at me” attitude. Pleasingly balanced and of correct body proportions, with a super head and the soft, warm and friendly expression so characteristic of the breed, enhanced by his large dark eyes. He moved around the ring with style and confidence, showing surprising drive and purpose for one so young. A lovely puppy  with plenty of personality and presence.

3rd – MITCHELL, Miss Charlotte – Afterglow Amadeus

A pleasing youngster who completed a strong and competitive class.

Bitches

1st – HALL, Miss M D – Shenedene Hasta La Vista

This gorgeous,  Lhasa Apso caught my eye from the moment she entered the ring. A real little pocket rocket, full of confidence, attitude and breed character. Feminine throughout and pleasingly longer from point of shoulder to point of buttock than her height at the withers, giving the correct overall proportions. She has a strong neck, is well ribbed back, with a level topline and correctly carried tail. Presented in excellent coat for a puppy, she moved around the ring with style, assurance and plenty of confidence. A stunning puppy who thoroughly deserved her first place.

2nd – JOHNSTON, Mrs Helen & WILSON, Mr Jake – Danluke Legs Eleven

A feminine and elegant Whippet with a lovely outline, particularly when on the move. She displayed the characteristic graceful curves of the breed, with a slight arch over the loin and a corresponding tuck-up to her underline. Pleasing head with a soft expression from her dark eyes and good pigmentation. Moved truly, with sound action in front and maintaining her elegant outline as she covered the ground. Presented in good muscular condition and a very worthy second in such excellent company.

3rd – CARRUTHERS, Mrs J – Stanegate Stephanie

Another quality youngster who completed a lovely final line-up in this particularly strong class.
