Portuguese Pointer. A very typical youngster with a pleasing head and expression. He has the characteristic broad, well-proportioned head, with a round, expressive eye, well-defined stop and correctly set, high-hanging ears. Pleasing proportions throughout his developing body, with ribs already showing good spring and well-muscled hindquarters. Moved with an easy, free stride, although a shame that he was somewhat reluctant to raise and use his tail today . A promising youngster with plenty of breed type.

1st TOWNSEND, Mrs Fiona & TOWNSEND, Mr Peter – Fidelix Obsession

Korthals Griffon. A masculine dog of good overall type, with a broad head and pleasing amber eye giving the desired expression. Good facial furnishings and eyebrows, which add to his characteristic breed appearance. Straight forelegs and good bone, although I would have preferred a little more fill and development through the forechest. Presented in a hard, harsh jacket of good texture. Moved soundly enough and covered the ground reasonably well.

1st FOX, Mrs L & STILGOE, Mr Paul & STILGOE, Mrs Diane – Teisgol King Arthur

Portuguese Pointer. Masculine and typical, with a pleasing head, round expressive eye and well-defined stop. Good length and strength of neck, flowing neatly into his well-placed shoulders. Deep through the chest and giving a pleasing overall outline. Particularly liked his free, easy movement, where he covered the ground well with a clean action behind, remaining sound through the hocks and using his rear quarters effectively.

Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer. A mature, masculine male of excellent breed type and balance. Loved his head, with the lighter eye giving the desired characteristic expression. Correctly proportioned and balanced in length, with well-laid shoulders and a body showing good ribbing and substance. Presented in excellent coat, with the correct harsh texture and good facial furnishings completing the typical outline. On the move he showed a lovely, long-reaching front stride and covered the ground with purpose. Just a shade close through the hocks behind, but his overall quality, type and movement won him Best Dog.

2nd DAVIES, Mrs Clare – Bel Ch Adonis Sheep On Hunt At Barbamor (Imp Pol)

Barbet. A smart, substantial male with much to like. Large, well-developed head with a pleasing dark eye and good expression. Short, strong neck leading into a powerful body, with a firm back and level topline. Good bone and substance throughout. His profuse coat was presented in the natural, rustic manner so characteristic of the breed, with plenty of curl and density. Moved well around the ring and maintained good tail carriage. Reserve Best Dog.

Korthals Griffon. A pleasing exhibit of good breed type, showing the characteristic head and facial furnishings of the breed. Presented sympathetically and handled to advantage. A sound, honest exhibit with a pleasing outline and attitude. Pleased to award her Best Special Beginner.

1st SLADDEN, Mr Ian – Khyannes Villette At Canemamans (Imp Hun) ShCEx VW

Braque d'Auvergne. A quality veteran who has retained her breed type and overall balance. Pleasing head and expression, with the characteristic appearance of the breed, and still showing a sound, athletic outline. She moved around the ring with purpose and enjoyment, demonstrating that she has retained her ability to cover the ground. . Would like to see more use of her tail to compete the picture , never less, a worthy winner of the class and Best Veteran.

2nd CROWTHER, Mrs C – Magnum Kiss Curl Pickle Paulette Doubs Of Corve

Barbet. A super rustic example of the breed, with a harsh, dense coat of good, even curl. Large head in proportion to her body,a relatively short neck. Moved with pleasing reach and a positive action, although a little close behind. Her excellent rustic presentation and correct coat texture were particular pleasing.

Barbet. A lovely feminine puppy with a pleasing expression and good dark eye. Correctly proportioned, with a large head in keeping with the breed and a short, strong neck. Still very much in puppy coat, but already carrying an abundance of characteristic curly covering. Moved steadily and truly for one so young, maintaining her outline well. A promising youngster who went on to take Best Puppy.

Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer. I had judged this bitch at one of her very first shows and it was pleasing to see how she has developed. She has a super head and a kind, characteristic expression. Pleasingly balanced throughout, with moderate and balanced angulation front and rear, and particularly liked her shoulder placement. Active and free on the move, covering the ground with good drive and maintaining a sound outline. Correct coat texture and a very pleasing overall type. Used her tail well in movement and showed herself to great advantage. A lovely bitch who was my Reserve Best Bitch.

2nd TAYLOR, Ms J – Topfields Kinkyboots Ir J Ch C.I.B-J

Korthals Griffon. A youngster with plenty of potential and a pleasing slightly rectangular outline. Good bone and substance for her age, with a typical head, good facial furnishings and a characteristic amber eye. Moved well and freely, although a little close behind today. A promising bitch with much to develop into.

POST GRADUATE BITCH (5, 0 abs)

1st CROWTHER, Mrs C – Corve Conqueror

Barbet. A very typical bitch with an exceptional, rustic coat of correct texture and good curl. Carrying an abundance of coat, particularly over the head and forequarters, giving her the characteristic breed appearance. Well-laid shoulders and good depth through the chest, with a balanced outline. Moved positively and maintained good tail carriage. A quality exhibit whose coat and breed type particularly appealed.

2nd BIRD, Ms Hannah – Novaforesta The Universal

Barbet. Another good type, with a large head, dark eye and pleasing expression. Short, strong neck and moderate angulation giving a balanced overall picture. Her coat was a little looser in texture than my winner's today, but she moved well and showed herself to advantage.

3rd BLAIR, Miss Sallie – Fidelix Spice Is Right

LIMIT BITCH (4, 2 abs)

1st DRAJ, Ms Nina – Forrests Impah Into Griffonview

Korthals Griffon.. She has good length to her forelegs, which helped to create the desired slightly rectangular outline. Pleasing head and typical expression, correct facial furnishings with good length of neck flowing smoothly into the shoulders. Moved freely and actively, covering the ground well and showing a sound, purposeful action.

2nd BOREHAM, Mrs V – Aligngriffs Hawkfinch

Korthals Griffon. A pleasing bitch with a typical head and good facial furnishings. I would have preferred a little more overall length to complete the desired proportions    found her slightly stuffy through the neck. However, she was super on the move, where she showed freedom of action and covered the ground well.

Portuguese Pointer. A quality bitch who immediately impressed with her overall breed type and balance. Super head and expression, with the characteristic well-defined stop and pleasing eye. Good length of neck flowing into well-placed shoulders, with a deep chest and a balanced outline throughout. Moderate rear angulation complemented her front assembly and gave her a harmonious picture when standing.

It was on the move, however, that her real quality showed. She covered the ground with reach and drive, maintaining her outline and moving with the free, easy action expected of breed. A very worthy Best Bitch and, over the quality Best Dog, my Best of Breed.

2nd BLAIR, Miss Sallie – Fidelix Serendipity

Korthals Griffon. A bitch I liked for her balance and substance. She has a great head with good facial furnishings, giving the desired characteristic expression. Presented in a harsh, correct jacket and showing good overall breed type. Moved well and maintained a pleasing outline.
