I would like to thank the Three Counties committee for the invitation to judge, my first time awarding CC’s and what an honour and a privilege. Thank you to the exhibitors for your entries and accepting my decisions so sportingly, and to my wonderfully efficient stewards Steve and Eddie. I had some beautiful dogs to go over all with super temperaments and, the open classes in particular, made for some tough decisions. I was pleased we were able to be outside and the weather held for us!
Minor Puppy Dog (1,0)
1. MacBain, Harrison & Bellamys Moontorn Drops of Jupiter with Fecimus
L&W A very smart 7 month old puppy. Still very much a baby but presents a lovely compact shape, showing balance and harmony throughout. Very pleasing front assembly and moderately angulated rear with good bend of stifle and neat short hocks. Lovely bone and already showing strength through body. Neatest of feet. Head is of good proportions, skull to muzzle and he has a well shaped eye, still needing to darken. Confident and happy on the move holding his topline and with good stride and footfall. I liked him a lot, he just lost out to the puppy bitch for BP as I felt she was more forward and I slightly preferred her head, but I think this boy has it all to come.
Puppy Dog (1,1)
Junior Dog (3,1)
1. Jenkinsons Eastriding Devotion
B&W 17 month. Very much in the development stage at the moment. He has a pleasing outline, good front assembly and depth to body with ribs springing and good quarters. Good length of leg which gave him a more balanced, racier shape over 2. Head is still developing and needs a bit more strength to muzzle but he has a well shaped dark eye with a kind soft expression. He was a little erratic on the move today and consequently didn’t hold his topline, but when he did settle I could see he has a good stride.
2. Watts Peasblossom Eros
B&W 17 month. Well bodied for his age with pleasing bone, straight front and neat feet. Moderate all through. Nice length of neck into strong topline. Head is a little strong but of good proportions with depth to muzzle and a kind dark eye of correct shape. Moved soundly and steadily.
Post Graduate Dog (7,3)
1. Jenkinsons Eastriding Royal Gold
L&W Striking 22 month masculine boy. Compact and strong in body with good length of leg, he makes a pleasing shape on the stack. Reachy arched neck into well laid shoulder. Well developed chest and ribbing, strongly coupled into strong muscular quarters, which are well let down. Skull and foreface in proportion with depth to muzzle and fairly square as required. Soft expression from his almond shaped eyes, although still need to darken a little more. Movement is impressive, straight on the out and back and in profile, plenty of front reach with his hocks driving well under.
2. Turrells Forgespring Tomfoolery
B&W 2 year old. Heavier framed dog. He shows substance through his body, with super fill of chest, well sprung ribs, strong couplings. Good front angulation with matching rear, not overdone with nice bend to stifle. Stronger in head than one, kind expression from his well shaped eye. His movement won him 2nd place over a very good dog in 3rd, really sound ground covering stride, showing excellent reach and drive.
3. Hills Teignvalley New Beginnings JW ShCEx OSW
Limit Dog (4,0)
1. Topliss’s Beresford Stand n’ Stare JW
L&W 2 year old. Masculine yet elegant with a hint of raciness with his excellent height to length proportions. This stylish dog has a reachy, slightly arched neck into a well laid shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Well developed chest and ribs. Strong and compact in body with width to quarters which are well let down. Pleasing in head with chiselling and fluting evident and a melting expression from correctly shaped eyes of correct colour. Strong powerful mover showing plenty of drive.
2. Stephensons Peasblossom Brogan at Gaolachcara
L&W 3 year old. Smaller framed dog but nicely made. This boy would definitely take the prize for best muscle tone today, he is absolutely solid! Pleasing front, chest and ribbing. Very good mover and carries himself well. Masculine in head of correct proportions with nice amount of stop and eyes of correct shape and colour.
3. Reynolds Clentonian Pitch Perfect
Open Dog (5,0)
Top quality class, all worthy champions and one who should be. All moved well and it really was splitting hairs here!
1. Topliss’s Sh Ch Sandylands Stand N Deliver
L&W 5 year old. Fully mature upstanding male, who just commanded attention. He has style and ring presence in abundance and carries himself so well. Gorgeous head with the required work, just the right amount of stop and kind gentle expression from well shaped eyes. Straight in front standing on lovely bone and feet, elbows well tucked in. Good length of leg, giving very balanced proportions. Excellent front assembly, which gave him the swing from his shoulder on the move. Depth and strength through his compact body into a well angulated muscular rear, giving such powerful drive. He holds a solid topline and his movement is effortless and groundcovering. In superb condition with glorious full furnishings DCC
2. Eyeingtons Sh Ch Meadowdale Daisydale Lightning Bolt
BW&T 7 year old. Up to size masculine dog. His outline and shape scream breed type. He is moderate all through and so balanced. Best of fronts and strong quarters with width of thigh and nice bend of stifle. Short neat hocks and tight round feet, he stands on lovely bone. Compact and strong in body and in glorious coat and condition. Slightly stronger in head than 1, correct muzzle to skull ratio and kind, melting expression from dark almond shaped eyes. His movement is totally English Springer, free flowing, happy and at one with his handler. RDCC and BVIB
3. Rowlinsons Meltarose Midshipman
Veteran Dog (2,2)
Minor Puppy Bitch (0)
Puppy Bitch (2,0)
1. Calverts Calvdale Infinity
L&W 10 month. A sweetheart full of the joys! She moved out well for her age. She has such a beautiful feminine well shaped head with good eye colour. Pleasing length and arch to neck leading into a good front. Well developed for her age with moderate but nicely angulated rear. Standing on quality bone and neat round tight feet. Typical in outline making a lovely package topped off with a well conditioned dark liver coat. BPIB
2. Keelys Alhambian’s Sally Traffic
LW&T 9 month. A touch finer than 1 and not quite as forward and balanced at the moment but she has lots to like. Head is developing still but shows work. She has length to neck, good front, chest and ribbing for age. Moderate in rear angulation with nice bend of stifle. On the move, once settled, she showed a good stride.
Junior Bitch
1. Hills Peasblossom Emotions with Teignvalley
B&W 17 month. Well proportioned girl, in lovely condition with well presented coat. Lovely head with correct muzzle to skull ratio, breadth and depth in muzzle with brows, chiselling and fluting all contributing to a soft expression from dark eyes. Good depth and ribbing and well let down hindquarters. Standing on neat feet and decent bone. Happy mover.
Post Graduate Bitch
A very nice class
1. Nicklins Daenerys Girl on Fire at Dexbenella JW
L&W Very nearly 2 and utterly feminine, showing balance and symmetry, every bit of her in harmony. I liked her leg length, in proportion to her body length which is “neither too long nor too short”. Good chest and spring of rib into short strong loin and good width to quarters, which are moderate in angulation with lovely turn of stifle. Feminine in head with very good proportions and work, dark well shaped expressive eyes. Moved true with impressive reach and drive. Top class presentation.
2. Jenkinsons Eastriding Royal Style
L&W 22 month. Compact with strength through body. Straight front with good bone. Excellent front construction with plenty of chest and well ribbed back to strong couplings. Hindquarters are well developed. Pretty head with soft expression from almond shaped eyes, darkening nicely. Movement is impressive showing reach and drive.
3. Stephensons Spuffing Daiquiri at Gaolachcara JW
Limit Bitch
1. Topliss’s Beresford Stand on Ceremony JW
L&W 2 year old. Like her litter brother in LD, this striking girl is elegant with a hint of raciness with excellent height to length proportions. Compact with well developed chest and ribs, she has plenty of substance but retains her femininity. Good for angulation front and rear. Elegant neck and the most attractive head of correct proportions with moderate stop, chiselling and fluting evident and a melting expression from correctly shaped eyes of correct colour. Lovely freeflowing movement with swing from her shoulder and plenty of drive behind.
2. Strovers Seaspring Windcatcher at Chipewyan
B&W 4 year old. Nicely made girl who is moderate all through. A little finer in bone than 1 and not as compact but she does show good balance and makes a pleasing shape. She is well bodied with spring of rib and enough chest. Neat, tight rounded feet. Good head proportions with depth to muzzle and heart meltingly dark eyes. She won her place over a very nice bitch on her better movement today, sound and covering the ground well on a good stride, at one with her handler.
3. Pattisons Crackerjanne Cassiopeia
A lovely bitch who didn’t want to play ball on the move today, which was a shame.
Open Bitch
Some top quality bitches in this class, with a variety of types. I really had to split hairs several times over!
1. Casey and Jayes Sh Ch Sandylands Send the Roses
L&W 5 year old. Exquisite, elegant, feminine, balanced and flowing are all words I would use to describe this beautiful bitch, I was totally captivated! She has a raciness about her yet is not without substance and strength. Excellent leg length, in perfect proportion to body. Pleasing angulation front and rear, not overdone, just right. Beautiful head with chiselling and fluting evident and a gentle soft expression from her dark well shaped eyes. She is in tip top condition with her well feathered liver coat gleaming. Her movement is a joy to behold, superb carriage, swing from the shoulder and drive from behind, so light on her feet, she floats with effortless ground covering stride, at one with her handler. BCC and BOB
2. Calverts Sh Ch Calvdale Flutter JW
LW&T 5 year old bitch. Another beautiful classic bitch, in her prime. Very pretty and eye catching. Lovely balance. Straight front standing on lovely bone. Elegant neck of good length into a well laid shoulder. Depth to chest and well ribbed strong body. Quarters broad, strong and well muscled, nicely angulated, not overdone, with good turn of stifle. Short neat hocks and tidiest of feet. Gorgeous typical head with work and dark well shaped eyes giving her a melting expression. She carries herself very well on the move with swing from the shoulder in front and strong drive behind. Beautiful coat and condition. RBCC
3. Smiths Sh Ch Melverly Iridescent
Veteran Bitch
3 lovely older veterans all in lovely condition, a credit to their owners.
1. Hydons Ir Sh Ch Clentonian Pandemonium JW ShCEx OSW VW
B&W 9 year old. A bitch I have judged before and she is still as impressive. She is very honest, sound and without exaggeration. Feminine and very balanced all through and with just the right amount of substance and bone for her frame. Sweet head with soft expression from dark eyes. She excels in her movement, carrying herself so well holding her topline, she is so light on her feet, she just floats covering the ground with ease, absolutely typically ESS, and totally at one with her handler.
2. Reynolds Clentonian Picture Perfect
L&W 9 year old. Litter sister to 1. and a little heavier in build. She has super balance and very good for chest, ribs and strong couplings into strong rear with breadth to thigh and moderate angulation, good turn of stifle into neat short hocks. Very good head which fits the standard well. She moved soundly and correctly but I felt just couldn’t quite match her sister today.
3. Wests Grosbreuil Abricot Regal
