Scottish Kennel Club - General Championship Show
Lowchen (Little Lion Dog)
My grateful thanks go to the officers and committee of the Scottish Kennel Club for inviting me to judge at their double show. It is always a pleasure to judge at this show, which although a very busy show is run with absolute professionalism and good humour. Thank you also must go to my very efficient ring stewards who kept the ring running smartly all day with smiles, despite the early disruption of a fire alarm which held up judging for a while. Most of all I thank all the exhibitors who entrusted me with the evaluation of their dogs, and accepted my decisions with grace and sportsmanship.

1ST 14139 - Arfenco’s Warrior King Ivar for Hollinsclose (Mrs D A & Miss Z A Richardson) Seven month old black and cream baby with correct head, well defined stop, short muzzle, strong jaw and round dark eyes. Well balanced for age. Ears with good fringing. Nicely arched neck, well laid shoulder and straight forelegs. Good rear assembly and level top line. Moved well.
2ND 14135 - Golbourne Marcello (Mr R J Morgan-Stanley) Just 6 months cream coloured baby with lots to like. Loved his size and shape. He has a lovely head well carried on a good length of neck. Appealing eyes with the look of intelligence and nice eye rims. He is well put together with short body, well sprung rib and strong loin with a moderate tuck up. Well muscled for his age. He was I feel a little overwhelmed on the day not helped by the earlier fire alarm. But certainly one with a bright future.

1ST 14131 - Ch Jameneli Back to Black (Mrs J Graham) Two year old Black and Cream. A dog I have admired from ringside and was delighted to be able to judge. There is very little I can add to what has already been said by others about this boy. Just to say that he did not disappoint in any way. Presented to perfection and at one with his handler he is a picture standing and a delight on the move. He is classic text book in head and body exhibiting all the characteristics you expect from a Lowchen, Happy, lively and undoubtedly intelligent. His head is simply beautiful and with everything in balance he has that certain something that sets him apart. I was delighted to award him Best of Breed and to see him progress to higher honours in the group.
2ND 14140 - Hollinsclose As It Was (Mrs D A & Miss Z A Richardson) Two year old Black and Cream of good size and all in proportion. Masculine head with well defined stop and strong muzzle. Good bite and regular dentition. Large round dark eyes and well pigmented rims. Well placed nose with good nares. Well placed ears with good fringing. Nicely arched neck lead into well laid shoulders, level top line, well sprung rib and a good strong loin. Nicely angulated stifle. Move out well. Reserve Best Dog.
3RD 14133 - Kerryken Keir Rob ShCEx (Miss L & Mrs J Mcfarlane) Nine year old dog who I do not appear to have notes for my apologies to the owners. I do recall he gave a good account of himself in the open class and eventually came back in to be awarded Best Veteran in Breed.
