Scottish Kennel Club - General Championship Show

My grateful thanks go to the officers and committee of the Scottish Kennel Club for inviting me to judge at their double show. It is always a pleasure to judge at this show, which although a very busy show is run with absolute professionalism and good humour. Thank you also must go to my very efficient ring stewards who kept the ring running smartly all day with smiles, despite the early disruption of a fire alarm which held up judging for a while. Most of all I thank all the exhibitors who entrusted me with the evaluation of their dogs, and accepted my decisions with grace and sportsmanship.

1ST 14346 - Ollarena Mini Cooper (Mrs I Holyland) Six month old Brown and Tan Long Coat. Overall good for size and proportion. Nice and Square with good coat coming through. Small head with well set large ears carrying enough fringing. Muzzle was lean, pointed and had a definite stop. Good tight fitting lips, strong jaw and dentition. Fine boned with neat elbows set close. Correct topline, and good rear assembly. Moved briskly round the ring.

2ND 14353 - Moyadacha Good Gosh (K S Leach) Six month old, Red with Black overlay. Good Profile and size. Typical active and lively youngster. Correct head shape with slight rounding of the skull. Large round eyes, well set ears and lean muzzle. Good scissor bite. Well placed and pigmented nose. Lovely neck length and correct shoulder. Slightly sloping top line. Tucked up well under arched loin. Well set on tail. Today I preferred the movement of one.

1ST 14339 - Shishalee’s Sex Bomb (Mrs A Codling) Twenty month old Red with black overlay long coat. This boy caught my eye. In good coat and condition and presented well. He fit the outline and proportion I was looking for. He has a lovely head with well set ears that are starting to carry the required long fringing. Relatively small head, with slightly pronounced cheeks. Large dark eyes, well defined stop and lean muzzle complete the picture. Strong jaws with good dentition. Good front and oval chest. Correct top line with slight arch to the loin and well set on and carried tail. Move out and back with a brisk action which carried him well around the ring. Pleased to award him Reserve Best Dog. 

2ND 14342 - Ollarena Classic Red (Mrs I Holyland) Two year old Red with black overlay long coat. Nice head and well placed ears with fringing. Good round eye, I would have liked to have have seen a little more pigment, but this didn’t detract from the overall picture. Correct front and rear assembly and good top line. Well set on and carried tail. Moved well out and back.

1ST 14357 - Cze Ch Vivaprima Turmalin Royal (Imp Lva) (Mrs A J & Mrs I Orchard & Holyland) Two and a half year old who walked in the ring as if he owned it. He fit the standard very well, to quote “ A small elegant dog, lively, long-legged, with fine bone and lean muscle.” he was just a picture, and didn’t disappoint on the table. Correct head all in balance. Giving a lovely expression. He was presented in tip top order, lean muscle where it should be, strong back and short loin slightly arched giving that all important topline. Lovely sickle tail set on and carried well. Moved with ease and a positive action around the ring. All topped of with a super coat. No hesitation to award him Best Dog and Best of Breed.

2ND 14362 - Bel Ch Grande Misterio Incanto Heaven Eversbabes (Imp Lva) (Mrs E & Mr D J Slack) Black and Tan long coat. Lovely rich tan on this boy and well coated. He is of good size and proportion and well balanced. His head is well shaped with strong jaws, well set and fringed ears. Dark large eyes over slightly pronounced cheeks. Nice lean pointed muzzle. Well fitting thin lips. Good neck with slight arch. Nice front assembly, slightly slopping top line and strong loin with rise. Moved well.

1ST 14363 - Shishalee’s I’m Too Sexy (Mrs J A Wakefield) Eighteen month old Brown and Tan. Well presented and in good body. Correct head with well set on ears with fringing. Nice round dark eye, good defined stop and lean muzzle. Well fitted thin lips and scissor bite. Nicely carried lean neck. Good front with fine bone straight and parallel legs. Correct top line. Moderate angulation and wider rear stance. Well carried tail. Moved ok. Happy to award Best Special Beginner in Breed.

1ST 14354 - Moyadacha Goodroot Tsarina (K S Leach) Six month old Red with Black overlay who is my one to watch. She possessed a lot of attributes from her correct size, shape and outline to her lovely feminine head. She is nice and square, Elegant when stood and on the move. Lovely proportioned head with thin beautifully shaped and placed ears with fringing starting to come. Correctly proportioned muzzle, large round dark eyes that gave a lovely expression. Well placed and pigmented nose. Strong jaw and correct scissor bite. Well bodied. Held her topline standing and on the move. Moved out well. My Best Puppy in Breed

2ND 14343 - Ollarena Ferrary Roma (Mrs I Holyland) Another six month old puppy with promise that bodes well for the breed. Brown and Tan with tan points coming in nicely. Correct head in shape and proportion. Well set on ears of good size and shape. Nice neck arch and length that lead to well placed shoulders and neat elbows. Good rib and strong loin. Well placed and carried tail. Moved ok

1ST 14348 - Ollarena Saffi Ari (Mrs I Holyland) Nineteen month old Red with Black overlay. Feminine girl of a good size and shape. Attentive to her handler. Pretty head with nice shaped, thin ears well set high on her head. Good shape and size to muzzle with well defined stop. Thin neat lips and scissor bite. Good fine bone, open angle shoulder, straight legs and close elbows. Not too wide at the front. Correct top line with gentle slope to croup. Good hind assembly. Moved well.

2ND 14344 - Ollarena Fire Fox (Mrs I Holyland) Twenty month old Red with Brown overlay. Another Feminine girl with a nice shape and outline. Correct head proportions. Well placed ears of good size. Well constructed front, fine boned with neat oval feet. Correct topline with slight arched loin, rounded croup and well set on and carried tail. Wider stance at the rear with moderate angulation to the stifle. Just preferred the movement of one today, but would not be surprised to see these two girls change places on another day.

What a lovely class this was to judge. Filled with quality that is a credit to the breed.

1ST 14338 - Grande Misterio I Love Love Lingkiss (Mrs A Codling) Three year old Black and Tan Long Coat girl in full bloom. Size and proportions are just right. Beautifully marked and showing to advantage. From the tips of her lovely thin ears that were set high on her head to the way she carried her sickle tail all said look at me, and I couldn’t deny her today. Head of exacting proportions, Well set apart dark lustrous eyes framed with lovely pigmented rims. Strong Jaw, thin tight fitting lips, and true scissor bite completed the head, which was carried proudly on her elegant arched neck. Well put together fore and hind quarters, Tucked up belly and drawn up flanks, strong back and slightly arched loin all contributed to her lovely shape. She moved out and back with a brisk action maintaining her top line. Very please to award her Best Bitch

2ND 14352 - Swiss/cze Ch Moyadacha Good Golly (K S Leach) Four year old Red with Black overlay. Another super bitch with so much to like. I wasn’t surprised to see later in the catalogue she is a worthy champion. So nice to go over, with everything where you would want it to be. She really pushed hard for top honours but today it was the Reserve Best Bitch award. Super feminine head piece, well defined from all angles. Large round dark eyes, Well defined stop. Good nose placement and pigment. Lovely scissor bite and dentition with neat tight lips. Good length of neck leading to open angled shoulders and oval chest, fine boned straight legs. Lovely top line which she held stood and on the move. Good tail carriage. Moved well.

Nice head with well defined muzzle. Large eyes set well apart. Good pigmentation to rims. Slightly pronounced cheeks, Nothing exaggerated in her head. Good bite and dentition. Well bodied with good front and rear assembly. Correct top line and tail carriage. Moved ok.
