NORTHUMBERLAND AND DURHAM COLLIE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
September 20th 2026
I would first like to thank the committee of N&D CC for inviting me to judge their championship show as my first time awarding CCs in our breed.
I was thrilled to have such a lovely entry both numerically and in terms of quality and I thank most sincerely everyone who entered to make the day special for me.
There were a few who were carrying too much weight which affected their movement and cost places.
The higher classes in both sexes were well filled with some lovely dogs and bitches so it was not easy to pick my winners and some difficult decisions had to be made, but I felt my final line up was of the quality I was looking for.
1.Minor Puppy Dog (4)
1.Lockyer’s BY D’COSSIO TIMELESS SOUL AT GATAJ (Imp Esp) NAF TAF 8mth old Blue merle of good colour. Head was well developed for his age and ears well placed. Nice eye shape and placement giving cheeky expression. Good shoulder placement with decent hind angulation. Movement was good and controlled for one so young.
2. Sibbald’s BY D’COSSIO QUIET STRENGTH AT TELFORTH (Imp Esp)Litter brother to 1. Heavily coated blue merle of good colour. Head was clean , eye well placed, though his ears were set rather low so didn’t have the expression of his brother. Construction was good but he needs time to come into his own.
3. Green’s ATIRAKIN LUMINARY NIGHTS
2. Puppy Dog (3)
1.Blake’s CORYDON THE VISIONARY9 month old sable and white of good rich colour. He stood and showed well with nice arched neck, good shoulder placement and balanced stifle. Head is clean and well developed for his age, however I would like to see his ears a little tighter to enhance his expression. Super movement, very controlled for his age and well maintained topline. BPD
2. Cooper’s KELEKONA HEARTS OF FIRE 11 month old tricolour . Not very confident so didn’t show himself to advantage, He has a good head with pleasing expression. Well constructed and moved round the ring fairly well. I just preferred the flowing movement of the winner.
3. Green’s ATIRAKIN LUMINARY NIGHTS
3. Junior Dog (3)
1. Lockyers GATAJ JESSE JAMES 17month old sable and white, in immaculate coat and condition. He has a refined head with the sweet expression created by a flat skull, lovely almond eye, correctly placed and ears well used and placed. Well angulated shoulder and lovely arch of neck. He moved well around the ring . Presentation was first class. I would just like him a size bigger .
2. Williams’ MEJOLA ENDEAVOUR 17 month old sable and white of good size and construction. His head is clean but I would prefer a little more stop and ears tighter to enhance his expression. Moved well around the ring maintaining his topline. Preferred head and expression of winner.
3. Thorne’s CHELBORN LOOK AT ME
4. Yearling Dog No entries
5. Novice Dog (1)
1. Blake’s CORYDON THE VISIONARY As Puppy
6. Graduate Dog (2.1a)
1. Penachio’s MALOUINE’S NEVER ENDING STORY 4 and a half year old pale gold sable and white. Has a very attractive head and expression. He has a wealth of coat but also carrying some excess weight; this unfortunately affected his movement which was a little erratic.
7. Post Graduate Dog (2,1a)
1, McCarte’s ROUGHRIGG RAGS’N’RICHES 2 and a half year old, well coated rich sable and white of good size. Very attractive head with well used and placed ears, nice almond eye and good stop. He is nicely constructed and balanced when standing, however on the move he is rather enthusiastic which unbalances him and spoils the outline. I liked him very much and look forward to seeing his progress.
8. Limit Dog (9.1a)
1. Randall’s LADNAR CALL MY NAME JW. 2 year old blue merle of lovely colour. He is a well made masculine dog of good size. Presents a lovely balanced outline with well laid shoulder, good bend of stifle and firm topline. Skull is flat and head a clean wedge with required “slight but perceptible” stop, eye is well placed and shaped and he has a kind expression, but I would like to see his ears a little tighter. On the move he is calm and collected with good reach. I judged him before as a puppy and felt he would “rarely be ignored”. Well presented and handled. He has matured into a lovely dog and I was delighted to award him DCC BOSIS
2.Harris’s GEOSAMKA LOVES TO LOVE AT ITHILIEN. 2 and a half year old sable and white. He has a lovely head with flat skull and parallel planes and a clean wedge, eyes dark and almond shaped, ears well placed and used giving a most appealing expression. Well balanced angulation with good topline and slight rise over loin. Moved well around the ring maintaining his topline. Just not quite the ring presence of my winner but pleased to award him RDCC.
3. Spendelow’s UFFSPRING UNDENIABLE
9. Open Dog (8)
1. Cronk’s CH CHELBORN GAMBLING LIST 4 year old tricolour. Not a big dog but well balanced and constructed . His head is a nice wedge with flat skull and parallel planes. Eye well placed and good shape. Lovely shoulder placement and topline with good bend of stifle and short hocks. Moved well round the ring with reach and drive
2. Toogood’s HANVALE RALPH LAUREN JW 3 year old sable and white I judged as a puppy. He is of good size. Head and expression are excellent, his head is balanced with lovely dark eyes and well placed and used ears. He has balanced angulation, nice rise over loin and is well muscled. Moved well round the ring but would like to see him a little steadier. In lovely coat and condition.
3.Blake’s CORYDON THE GRANDMASTER
10. Veteran Dog (4.1a)
1. Boyle’s BARRENCLOUGH HEART OF GOLD JW ShCEx OSW VW 9 year old sable and white 9 year old sable and white . Not a big dog but carries a lovely head with sweetest of expressions. Head is well balanced, ears correctly placed and used. Stands and shows well. He moves around the ring with the dignity of his years. BVD
2. May’s CAMANNA CAREERCHANGING FOR MAQUEEBA 7 year old sable of larger type than my winner. Has a nice head and expression. Has good length of back and balanced angulation. However he tends to stand with his front feet turned out which spoils his profile. Moved ok.
3. Leese’s ESSANJAY FIELDS OF GOLD FOR FIRESAGA
11. Minor Puppy Bitch (3.1a)
1. Hawkins & Foy BELDONES ORANGE BLUSH 7 month old golden sable . She has a very pretty head and expression, although her ears are a little light at the moment, I am sure this will settle and it was a windy day! Good shoulder placement and angulation. Nice length of back. Still very raw as one would expect however she moved really well around the ring . I will watch her progress with interest.
2. Boyle’s VIREL ACTISOVER BARRENCLOUGH (Imp Pol) NAF TAF 8 month sable and white. Head is balanced for age with nice wedge and flat skull. Ear and eye placement good and she has a lovely neck and shoulder, with decent length of back. She was somewhat unsettled on the day and showed in her movement.
12 Puppy Bitch (6.2a)
1.Lockyer’s GATAJ MISS SPARKLES 11month old golden sable, was beautifully presented and in lovely coat which fitted her outline. She has a lovely balanced head, flat skull, dark well placed eyes and well set ears which she used, giving the sweetest of expressions. Construction is balanced and is well angulated. 2.Harrison’s GATAJ PEGGY SUE 12 month old sable and white with lovely head and expression, flat skull, lovely almond eye, well set and used ears. Well constructed with adequate length of back and good angulation. Moved steadily round the ring with a light stride. Beautifully presented and handled. Close decision between 1 & 2 but I just preferred the neck of the winner

13 Junior Bitch (5.1a)
1.Lockyer’s YOUR MAJESTY ANGEL SYLVESTRE AT GATAJ (Imp Bel) 17 month old golden sable and white of sound construction. She is in lovely well presented coat and condition. 2. Williams’ MEJOLA EDGE OF GLORY almost 18 month darker sable and white of different type to 1. She has well laid shoulders, good length of back, nice bend of stifle and is longer cast . Head is a clean wedge but I would prefer a little more defined stop. She moves steadily around the ring maintaining her topline and with a good length of stride.
3.Mills’ LEMIVEE CONNIE’S SONGBIRD
14. Yearling Bitch (5.3a)
1.Spendelow’s UFFSPRING UNIQUE ESPOIR 20 month old tricolour of lovely shape . Clean wedge head with desired parallel planes. Ears well placed and used, nice eye and expression. 2. Williams’ MEJOLA SOME GIRLS DO 17 month sable and white. Good angulation front and rear. Used her neck well and moved well around the ring. She had left her clothes at home so was able to see her nice length of back and neck.

2. Penachio’s GENTLE IMAGE CHAMPAGNE TIME (Imp Ger) Heavily coated 4 year old sable. I found her head rather deep through giving her a heavy look. She was well presented and moved gently around the ring.
17. Post Graduate Bitch (5)

18. Limit Bitch (13.2a)
1. Hawkins & Foy’s BELDONES FANTASY Almost 2 year old sable and white. Caught my eye as she stood in the ring and didn’t disappoint on closer inspection. Her head is balanced with lovely shaped eye, good stop and well placed and used ears, all giving the most melting expression. Construction is sound and she stands straight using her neck to advantage. Good length of back and tail with desired slight rise over loin. Excels on the move , has good forward reach and drive from rear. Even in challenge with a change of handler, she moved with lovely light stride. I will watch her progress with interest. I was delighted to award her BCC BIS
2. Llewellyn’s SALSINA BLUSHING ROSE 2 and a half year old golden sable in lovely coat and condition. Another lovely bitch who caught my attention on entering the ring. Well developed head with flat skull, correctly placed and well used ears, almond eye and nicely rounded muzzle all combining to give lovely expression. She has well laid shoulder, good length of back , nicely arched neck and well bent stifle. Presents a lovely profile in standing. Unfortunately today she moved rather close behind. Really well presented and handled.
3. McCarte’s ROUGHRIGG ONE OF A KIND
19 Open Bitch (6.1a)
1.Cronk’s Ch SKABONA IF I SAW YOU IN HEAVEN FOR CHELBORN JW (Imp Swe). Beautifully coloured blue merle of 3 years old. She has a well balanced head , good ear and eye placement, well rounded muzzle. RBCC RBIS
2. Hodge’s JOPIUM FOLLOW MY HEART 2 and a half year old sable and white. I judged her as a puppy and she has matured in to a lovely adult.
