Manchester Championship Show 16th January

Irish Setters

I would like to thank my stewards and all the exhibitors for their support and the sporting and courteous way they accepted my decisions. I had a lovely day going over some quality Irish. Most of the exhibits were in an excellent clean condition with the majority having the typical Irish expression and temperament, although I did find a number lacking the correct occipital protuberance and arch of neck. But overall I was very pleased with my winners.

Spec Beginners 2

1. Spencer’s Sheldonite More Romance – Handsome young dog almost 3yrs old, balanced head with good eye shape, clean neck & shoulders, strong topline & well angulated quarters, neat feet, moved OK.

 2. Macfarlane’s Harelferg New Tricks For Umfrido ShCex - Attractive boy, almost 5yrs, taller than 1 but well balanced throughout, short hocks and moved OK just a little proud of his tail.

Minor Puppy 2

1. Hardy’s Cafotaliena Play With Fire - Attractive puppy, very raw as he should be at this stage, best of heads with good eye shape & colour, pleasing in outline with good quarters fore and aft, good depth of chest and short coupled, moved well for a youngster. B.D.P. & B.P. Excellent result in the puppy group gaining P.G.2. well done!

2. Henderson’s Sametsuz Speaks Volumes – Stylish young puppy, of similar age, with pleasing head & expression, good reach of neck into sloping topline, well balanced throughout with tight feet, moved ok. Just preferred the head of 1.

1. Hyslop’s Gwendariff Little White Lie (IKC) – 10 month old puppy with a pleasing head, good angulation front and rear and is well balanced throughout, moved ok.

2. Neill & Stewart & Ellrich’s Gwendariff Marlon Brando Raf – Attractive puppy also 10 months, a little unsettled on the day but he had an appealing head & expression, good quarters, well balanced with tight feet, moved ok.

1. Hemmings’ Orlanset Slave To Love - Nicely maturing young dog of good type, attractive head with correct eye shape, clean over the neck & shoulders, good in outline, well made forehand with good spring of rib & short couplings, strong rear quarters, good tail set, moved well.

2. Abba’s Riqitta Sea The Stars (bb4) – 15 month old young dog of good type, appealing head, well bodied with good couplings, good bend of stifle and short hocks, in good coat, moved ok.

1. Pym’s Marzanne Trigger Happy By Thendara JW - Smart young dog, good head and expression, an overall balanced youngster, well muscled body, topline sloping gently to the rear, strong quarters with a good bend of stifle, short hocks & tail well set on, moved well.

2. Abbott’s Thendara Haribo At Baibreeze - Another young dog with lovely masculine head, well angulated front quarters with good lay back of shoulder, well bodied with good couplings, well bent stifles and hocks well let down, in good coat, moved well.

3. Crocker & Frost’s Ronaldo Lofty At Riverbrue (Imp Pol)

1. Holehan’s Loganrish Tiger Warrior JW - Masculine dog with attractive head, good length of neck fitting cleanly into the shoulders, topline sloping gently to the croup, well angulated with good stifles, short hocks and neat feet moved well.

2. Holmes’ Gwendariff Mr Blue Sky - Well balanced young dog with a nicely chiselled head & dark eye, arched neck and well angulated shoulders, good spring of rib, strong loin, a well angulated youngster, moved well. Close up, preferred the forehand of 1.

1 Levene & Lewis’ Quensha Remember The Name Valasarch - Well balanced handsome young dog, well chiselled head with dark eye , clean through the neck and shoulders, good spring of rib and strong loin into well muscled rear quarters with short hocks & good feet giving good driving movement.

2. Bentley’s Penclippin Jubilee Flame JW - Attractive dog masculine head with dark eye and good head planes, good length of neck and clean shoulders, sloping gently to the rear, well angulated with good loin, well bent stifles & clean hocks, good feet, moved well.

3. Gilks’ Suteresett Mr Mistoffelees At Gochmawr

1 Bott’s Bardonhill Million To One – Masculine dog, excellent headpiece with raised brows dark eye & irish expression, well muscled moderate neck fitting cleanly into the shoulders, good forehand with firm topline and strong loin, good stifles, excellent over the croup with tail set on correctly, won this class with his sound movement. RCC.

2. Lucas’ Gwendariff Bachelor Boy - Handsome Irishman, clean well shaped head with kind eye giving him a soft expression, sound forehand, deep chest and well bodied with powerful rear quarters, tight feet, well handled, moved with purpose.

1 Edwards’ Sh Ch Copper's Get Off My Cloud By Bonhomie (Imp Swe) – So handsome in head, balanced with the correct amount of stop, masculine yet melting expression with a dark eye, raised brows & low set ears of correct length. He is well-built and racy with no hint of coarseness, a strong neck of good length, well laid shoulder placement with a good return of upper arm, deep chest with plenty of heart room & ribs carried well back, a firm sloping topline with good tail set, well bent stifles and short hocks which he used on the move with an effortless driving action. DCC & BOB. Pleased to see him short listed in the group.

2. Danks-Kemish’s Sh Ch Alolfrana All I Ask Of Eveandabec JW - . Another Sh Ch worthy of his title and still young, turned out in full coat and condition, he possesses a lovely appealing head with the true Irish expression in his well shaped eye, plenty of work but not overdone, good length of neck fitting cleanly into the shoulders, firm topline & well muscled loin, good over croup with the correct tailset, moved with drive.

1 Hemmings Sh Ch Orlanset A New Flame – Masculine dog with a lovely head, correct eye shape, plenty of depth to his chest and well coupled, standing straight and true, well balanced all through, moved well.

2. Russell’s Sh Ch Lynwood Hocus Pocus At Settesoli JW - Handsome dog with good head shape & dark eye, clean neck & shoulders, strong topline & well angulated quarters, good feet, sound mover. Two worthy champions.

2. Thomas’ Meldor-sett’s Fairy Lily - Appealing 3yr old girl with well shaped feminine head with kind eye, well angulated fore & aft with good depth to the chest, strong rear quarters and good hocks, moved ok. Close up.

2. Sketchley’s Sametsuz So To Speak – Litter sister and similar remarks, attractive head and expression, neck of good length set into the shoulders, good body shape & outline with good loin, good angles all through, just preferred size and balance of 1 at present, moved well.

1 Green, Holehan-Green & Selby’s Loganrish Winter Pearl Moon - Attractive youngster, feminine head with dark eye and lovely expression, good neck and shoulders cleanly into smooth topline, well coupled with well angled stifles and clean hocks, moved ok

2 Mclaren Keljaru Taif Rose At Teuschon – Another promising puppy, nice head and expression just preferred head of 1, good overall balanced outline, well angled forehand, ribs carried well back good in the loin and sturdy rear quarters moved ok.

1. Hopewell, Hopewell & Greenan’s Riverwood X Written In The Stars (Imp Bel) – Raw but promising puppy, nice head and expression, good overall balanced outline, well angled front end with better length in upper arm, ribs carried well back, good over the croup, strong rear quarters moved well.

2. Mutch’s Astleyview Crimson Moon - Attractive young bitch of good type, good head shape with pleasing expression, well developed front end with good depth to the chest, well balanced rear quarters, moved well.

Strong class of young bitches making decisions quite difficult.

1. Hadfield’s Marzannes Happy Returns - Young bitch of good size, attractive head with appealing expression, well angulated forehand, correct sloping topline, good rear quarters, stifles and hocks, moved well.

2. Berry & Morris’ Riverbrue Mystique Avec Brinara JW – Nice sized bitch with attractive head, good eye shape and ear carriage, good angulation of quarters, well coupled, well angulated stifles, moved well, preferred topline of the winner.

1. Blackshaw, Rowbottom & Rowbottom’s Lanstara Cherrorvale Moon Dancer - Compact young bitch, attractive head with kind eye and pleasant expression, good neck & shoulders with well angulated forehand, pleasing overall shape and outline with strong rear quarters, moved well.

2. Holehan’s Loganrish Tiger Lilly Pearl JW- Another pleasing young bitch of good type, good head shape with pleasing expression, clean through the neck & shoulders with good depth to the chest, good in outline, well balanced rear, just slightly longer than 1, moved well.

1 Hadfield’s Covarney Time After Time For Marzanne - Attractive bitch with feminine head, dark eye and good ear carriage, good in profile with well angulated front quarters, good depth to the chest, well coupled with good stifles and short hocks, moved to advantage to win this class.

2. Kennedy-Sloane’s Twoacres Contrary Mary - Another quality bitch with attractive head, soundly constructed throughout, well sprung chest with plenty of lung room, short coupled and strong hocks, moved well.

2. Hall’s Harreds Lillie - Feminine headed bitch with good eye shape, clean in the neck and shoulders with good layback, deep chest and strong loin, well bent stifles and short hocks, moved well.

1 Hall’s Glennara Cherry Cola JW - Quality bitch, beautiful head with true Irish expression, good head planes, dark eye and good ear set, won this class with her excellent neck and shoulders, well angulated front & rear, short coupled with strong hocks, moved with good drive. Pleased to award her the CC.

2. Godart’s Multi Int Sh Ch Riverwood The Devil Wears Prada Jun Ch - . Another quality bitch that possesses a lovely head, full of quality, good shoulder placement with correct layback of shoulder, sloping topline and strong couplings, good over the croup with tail set on correctly, moved well with purpose.
