I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of the Leeds City & District Canine Association for the honour of inviting me to judge. My sincere thanks also go to my stewards, Mrs Pauline Wales and Mrs Gwynne Wright, for their invaluable assistance throughout the day.

I would also like to thank all the exhibitors for giving me the opportunity to assess their dogs. I was pleased to have 25 dogs present from an entry of 27. The very windy conditions caused the ring tapes to flap about, which unsettled some of the dogs and, at times, made movement more challenging.

Overall, I was very pleased with the quality of the exhibits presented and particularly satisfied with my final line-up. I was delighted to find some outstanding examples of the breed and thoroughly enjoyed my day judging.

Class Puppy Dog – 4 Entries (Abs: 1) 

1st: Kiziuk & Gallagher – Magicmaltie Space Cowboy 

8 months old, with a good spring of rib, firm body and level back. Tail carried well over the back, with very deep pigmentation. Beautiful masculine head, dark eyes and a lovely expression. Complete scissor bite. Should have a bright future. Moved round the ring soundly and with style. Presented in immaculate condition. Best Puppy Dog & Best Puppy in Breed.

2nd: Welbourn – Zumarnik Scandalize 

7 months old, a quality little fellow with so much to like about him. Good pigmentation and a coat of good texture. More mature in body, but I preferred the head and expression of the winner. Moved round the ring very soundly. Presented in excellent condition, as always from this kennel.

3rd: Balfour – Suncube Romeo Save Me 

Class Junior Dog – 2 Entries (Abs: 1)

1st: Jacunskiene – Yobbo Yo Dzeusas Artemide By Deluxedream (IMP LTU)

 14 months old, another with good, dark pigmentation. I like his head and dark eyes, with a lovely expression and long, well-feathered ears. Firm body, level topline and tail carried well. He was unsettled on the table, which I put down to the very windy conditions. Coat of lovely texture and presented in superb condition.

Class Limit Dog – 2 Entries 

1st: Flannigan & Dornan – Benatone Bows And Buttons For Snowkai

19 months old. A super-quality dog in every way. So sound and moved very well. Lovely head and sweet expression, with long, well-feathered ears set correctly. Lovely reach of neck set into good shoulders. Excellent to go over and really appreciate what is underneath the beautiful coat. Presented in sparkling condition. I was delighted to award him the Reserve CC.

2nd: Balfour – Adonis Senayo At Suncube (IMP POL) 

2½ years old. Lovely masculine head, with a very good-textured, long coat, presented in super condition. Good, firm body and a lot to like about him. Sadly, the gusty wind caused the ring tape to fly about wildly, which unsettled him and affected his performance today.

Class Open Dog – 5 Entries (Abs: 1) (Excellent quality class) 

1st: Jackson & Jennings – Omissilleb Nimbus At Benatone  

Just turned two years old, a quality, masculine dog who caught my eye on entering the ring. Firm body beneath a beautiful coat, with the darkest of pigmentation. Beautiful masculine head and expression, with a correct scissor bite, lovely dark eyes and well-placed ears. Level back. A pity there was only one red card, as all three in this class were first class. Presented in immaculate condition, as always from this kennel.

I was thrilled to award him the CC and Best of Breed. I was later informed that this was his second CC. I am sure his third will soon be here.

2nd: Welbourn – Ch Zumarnik Made You Look 

Three years old. A dog I have judged before, at the WKC in 2024, when I awarded him the CC. Unfortunately, today he was not as settled as my winner. Good reach of neck into well-laid shoulders, with a level topline, but he was definitely affected by the windy conditions. Presented in excellent condition. A pity, as I like him a lot, but today was simply not his day. I see, however, that he has now obtained his crown, which is very well deserved.

3rd: Flannigan & Dornan – Snowkai Proclaimer 

Puppy Bitch – 3 Entries (Abs: 2) 

1st: Oliver – Zumarnik Speculation 

Just six months old. A quality, feminine girl with the sweetest expression, lovely dark eyes and excellent pigmentation. Very confident when being handled on the table, which I believe must have been her first show. Lovely temperament, moved soundly and with style, with a level back, quality coat and nice, firm body. Presented in gorgeous condition. I was delighted to award her Best Puppy Bitch.

Class Junior Bitch – 2 Entries (Abs: 1) 

1st: Flannigan & Dornan – Snowkai’s Defying Gravity  

15 months old. A beautiful, feminine girl, one you really need to handle to appreciate how well she is put together. Lovely, firm body with a good front. Pretty, feminine head and good reach of neck into well-placed shoulders. Level back and a lovely, cobby body. Moved soundly and presented in lovely condition.

Class Limit Bitch – 2 (Abs: 1) 

 1st: Oliver – Sarasuma Made In Wonderland JW 

22 months old. An excellent-quality, feminine girl with a beautiful, silky coat and dark pigmentation. Lovely expression, with correctly set ears that are long and well feathered. Good reach of neck, moved very well and showed with a lovely, sweet temperament. Presented in immaculate condition. Went around the ring soundly and with such style. I was thrilled to award her the Reserve CC.

Class Open Bitch – 5 (Abs: 1) (Excellent quality class)

1st: Welbourn – Wampum Go Like the Wind At Zumarnik JW (IMP ZAF)

Almost two years old. Another quality, feminine girl with an excellent, straight, pure-white coat covering a lovely, shapely body. Nice and short, with a good reach of neck, carried her tail well and moved very well. Her feminine head is beautiful, with lovely, well-set eyes and excellent black pigmentation. As always, presented to perfection. I was delighted to award her the CC and Best Opposite Sex.

2nd: Jackson & German – Benatone A Dream Comes True 

21 months old. Another good bitch from this well-known kennel. Good movement and a level topline, and she moved well. Unfortunately, she just lacked the depth of pigmentation of my winner. Perhaps she was about to come into season, which may have accounted for the slight lack of pigmentation. Presented in excellent condition.

3rd: Lees – Ch Lafford Beauty Queen
