South Wales Corgi Club

Breed: Welsh Corgi (Cardigan)

SOUTH WALES CORGI CLUB, March 29

The South Wales Corgi Club held its ch show at Penyrheol Community Centre, Caerphilly where there was a warm welcome from Wendy Rees & her team. Nice to see Allan Taylor, so long associated with the best of Corgis in this area, return to the judging ring to sort out the Pembrokes & two top class Pem males were my BIS & reserve. Best was the tricolour Ch Brynlea Creslow Paint It Black at Cottivy, full of quality with a lovely head & expression & super topline, while reserve was Ch Unita Mentale Ernesto, another with a gorgeous head, correct bone & a classic outline. BP was the Cardi BCC winner Lidoffad Tiwlip for Brynlluan & BV the ageless Pem Ch Meitza Dark N’Debonair, another super headed tricolour boy still with teenage enthusiasm & joie de vivre.

CARDIGANS - GD & PGD (1) 1 Anderson & Thomas’ Tamlin Hillbilly Rock, promising brindle point tri, strong but well proportioned head, dark correct shape eye, large rounded ears, sound front with correct bow, typical bone & feet, enough forechest, good ribbing carried well back, moved well in front with good reach, could have a shade more drive behind. LD (2) 1 Irving’s Twinan True Grit, typy brindle, correct size, admired his head proportions, refined but still masculine, well carried ears, even front with sufficient bone, Cardi feet, well ribbed, balanced angulation, moved out well with an even stride & retaining his topline, tail carriage could be lower but a promising young man in so many ways, RCC & RBOB; 2 Langford’s Gowerston Geriant of Caprian JW, bigger brindle point tri, strong male head which is well proportioned if not the refinement of 1, masses of bone, correct shape feet, front not quite as even as 1, long ribcage, well bodied, free active mover though didn’t retain his topline as well as 1. Well done on siring the BCC. OD (2) 1 Taylor & Michalski’s Pol Ch Dom Corgi Easy Boost, such a handsome rich brindle, typical male head with good skull/muzzle proportions, dark eye, rounded ears which he could use a shade more, sound front, typical feet, correct balanced angles, enough neck, the right amount of bone, well bodied, level topline retained on the move where he showed plenty of style & enthusiasm, in good coat well presented. Quality chap who stood out today for breed type & the mature overall picture. CC, his second, & BOB; 2 Thomas’ Aus Ch Mandene Aston Martin, quality brindle point tri of a smaller type, liked his head proportions giving a typical expression without any coarseness, enough bone for his size, good feet, well bodied & muscled, preferred neck & angulation of 1 but liked his overall air of refinement.

VB (2) 1 Langford’s Caprian The Vixen JW, 8 years dark brindle in great form, good overall balance, OK head type if not quite so classical as 2, reachy neck, enough bone, well ribbed, scored on the move today, going with great enthusiasm retaining her shape; 2 Siviter’s Faywaidd Spice ShCEx, 7 years brindle, favourite of mine with a particularly beautiful head type, super chiselling & lovely ears, so feminine, excellent bone & feet, moved steadily with level topline. Rather heavy all through today which made her seem wide in front & couldn’t match winner’s drive & enthusiasm today. PB (2) Two lovely pups at the opposite ends of the type spectrum. 1 Essenhigh & Bishop’s Lidoffad Tiwlip for Brynlluan, impressive 10 month brindle with plenty of scope for the future, the right head proportions, super bone & substance, excellent front & feet, good length of ribbing, lovely outline with enough ground clearance, strong well angulated hindquarters, free true mover, scored heavily in today’s female entry on her reachy neck & clean well laid back shoulders which won her her first CC over more mature contenders. Good luck! 2 Field’s Under Moonlight Ferarry Stile for Caiedw, delightful ultra-feminine 11 month clear b/m, pretty as a picture, charming refined head, bone in proportion, good front, held herself well together on the move retaining her topline. Perhaps could have a shade more neck, but liked her a lot & was a contender for RCC. JB (1) 1 Craske & Finch’s Ancksunamun Fa Mulan JW, beautiful type feminine brindle, loved her head proportions, expression, eyes & ears, reachy neck, correct balanced angulation, enough bone for size, super outline, powerful hindquarters. Now needs lots of time to develop in body but when fully mature should make a super picture. NB (1) 1 Holmes’ Keerside Edie Chaol, pretty feminine red point tri, OK head, muzzle could be a shade shorter, correct size, OK ribbing, good topline, enough bone, could have a bit more angulation, moved true behind, a bit wide in front. GB (3) 1 A Fa Mulan; 2 Anderson & Thomas’ Tamlin Boot Scoot Boogie, heavier marked b/m with plenty of substance, strong well proportioned head, rounded ears, reachy neck, powerful hindquarters, prefer a little less turnout in front, moved OK without quite the reach & drive of winner; 3 K Edie Chaol. PGB (1) 1 T Boot Scoot Boogie. LB (5) 1 Langford’s Caprian Adrianna JW, feminine brindle with a lovely outline, OK head type without quite the refinement of 2, excellent conformation & body proportions, clean shoulders, moved round the ring with plenty of enthusiasm; 2 Davies’ Joseter Ooh Betty at Ceranda, gorgeous headed brindle with the most dramatic ears in the business, super bone, enough neck, plenty of substance & lengthy ribbing, feet could be a shade tighter. Hard decision, just let her topline drop a bit at the wrong moment; 3 Evans’ Lidoffad Celtic Dream. OD (3) Three good bitches of differing styles. 1 Thomas’ Aus Ch Mandene Pink Diamond Of Argyle, neatly made pretty brindle point tri of correct size, loved her head type, so feminine & well proportioned, the right amount of bone, level topline retained on the move, sound mover holding herself well together going round, just fell for the sheer scope of the puppy but she should gain her UK crown. RCC; 2 Fitzpatrick-Graham’s Ch Ancksunamun Hallows Eve JW, smart brindle with an eyecatching outline, quality feminine head with good expression & ears, correct bone, super topline retained on the move, just preferred winner’s front angles; 3 Taylor’s Ch Chris Team Bakalia for Tamlin JW.
