A number of top quality Pembrokes present, my main reservation being shoulders with many forward placed or somewhat upright. 

Beginners D (3): 1 Roper’s Cardigan Bay, one I judged as an unruly youngster, now a veteran and the transformation is amazing, a tribute to his owner’s hard work. Smart outline, good neck & shoulder, not as much bone as some but has such neat feet, level topline, slightly fine in head, moved with an even stride if slightly close coming & going, in super condition & showed himself so smartly today; 2 Manson’s Smokey iz Byrshtunovogo Kraju under Titantails, masculine attractive headed youngster, good reachy neck, a shade upright in shoulder, level topline, used himself well on the move with good reach & drive, not in the best of coats today. Going through that teenage stage at 13 months, when he fills out in body with a shade more width all through he will look a different dog; 3 Evans’ Hortonpoint Blue Lagoon at Elorence. VD (1) 1 Haslam’s Ch Meitza Dark N’Debonair, unbelievably this handsome tri bobtail is 9 years old but seems to look younger every year, an impression which his helped by his tremendous enthusiasm & joie de vivre. Has a really lovely head & expression with correct skull to muzzle proportions, dark eyes & the right size, set & carriage of ears, very much in the old Blands/Belroyd style. Enough neck, true front with the right amount of bone for his size, correct forechest without exaggeration, good topline standing & strong well angulated quarters, in super coat & condition & responds so well to his handler. Today he epitomised ‘Low set, strong, sturdily built, alert and active, giving impression of substance and stamina in small space’, so won the CC as well as BV. PD (3) Found this a difficult class, all three with aspects to like but of totally different styles & at different stages of development. Will be interested to see how they all progress. 1 Rees’ Stadwen Dagwood Bumstead, smart deep red boy who scored on outline, correct size, foxier expression than many, reachy neck, super topline, correct shaped feet, OK length of ribbing. Needs plenty of time to gain a bit more width all through; 2 Allen, Bott & Blance’s Penliath Frankie Goes To Allenie, quality pup with excellent head proportions, good reach of neck flowing into clean shoulders, enough bone, well ribbed, true coming & going. At this stage rather bum high, sure he will balance out with a bit more time; 3 Allen & Matthews’ Craigycor Duke Caboom at Headholme. JD (4) 1 Irving’s Born To Be Your Unicum with Twinan, such a smart young man with a real quality look, really uses himself in the ring, loved his head type, refined but still masculine, stands well on a true front with sensible amount of bone, super topline, matching hindquarters, correct size, moved true both ways, steady side gait. Slightly more compact type than some. BJ & JG4; 2 Rees’ Stadwen Sidney, quality tricolour bobtail, attractive head, well shaped & carried ears, enough bone, oval feet, winner had a shade more hind angulation, level topline, well made hindquarters. Just out of puppy & still looks a baby, another who needs time to body up all through; 3 Young’s Levisbrooks Lunar Eclipse. PGD (4) 1 Irving’s Twinan Put Some Jam On It, a cheerful heavier made chap with a striking outline, masculine head with dark eye, strong bone with OK feet, reachy neck, well laid shoulders, strong well angulated hindquarters, moved soundly with some style; 2 L Lunar Eclipse, smart eyecatching tri, attractive head type, enough bone, level topline, neatly made hindquarters, steady mover, not quite shoulder & front of those above; 3 Davis’ Coquetmoss Copper Beech at Ermyn. LD (7) 1 Young’s Ermyn Lionheart, such an excellent all-round Pembroke of a more compact type, lovely head type with the correct skull to muzzle proportions, good eyes & ears, bone appropriate to his size, immaculate topline, good to find clean well laid shoulders with matching upper arm, well ribbed, neat hindquarters with good bend of stifle & low hocks, sound mover, steady going round, a contender in the challenge; 2 Wyer’s Cottivy Coronation Prince, another quality dog, smart boy of a similar style, quality head, typical ears & eyes, showed smartly with a level topline, well made hindquarters, sound mover, winner scored slightly in forehand; 3 Scott’s Saniaquinto Black Magic. OD (6) 1 Wyer’s Ch Brynlea Creslow Paint It Black at Cottivy JW, this handsome tri has such a ‘smooth’ classy look, his head is a model for the breed, masculine but refined with good chiselling, correct shaped dark ears & excellent ears which he uses well, slightly arched neck, level topline, sufficient bone, well ribbed, sound mover both ways, steady going round if not quite the reach & drive of CC winner. RCC; 2 Irving & Trefan-Török’s Ch/Multi Ch Craigycor Golden Ticket at Twinan JW, another top quality dog, correct size, again a super head type, excellent arched neck, well laid shoulder & level topline giving a flowing outline, just the right amount of bone. Was torn between these two who both have so much to like, winner a shade steadier behind today but they will continue to change places regularly I’m sure; 3 Hulse & Adams’ Babaneira Kensington at Fablecroft ShCEx.

Beginners B (4) 1 Coates’ Durrcor Luna Eclipse, good looking young bobtail with plenty of substance, well proportioned head, clean neck & shoulder line, front could be a shader truer, OK topline, strong well muscled hindquarters, in excellent condition, good footfall coming & going. Best beginner; 2 Dickenson’s Brynmay Star Explosion, such a pretty feminine bobtail of a different style, very nice head type, neat front, correct bone for her excellent size, well ribbed. Winner scored in hindquarters but this one has much to like; 3 Evans’ Modlen Mair at Elorence. VB (1) 1 Hogg’s Daleabbeys Anything Goes Keltybrae, such a typy 7-year-old, super outline, very typical head & expression, well ribbed back, strong hindquarters, correct bone, moved smartly & was generally in fine form. PB (5) 1 Hollingworth’s Highashes The Bees Knees, this little doll made my day, just 6 months & full of confidence & sass, beautiful overall type & quality, super outline, pretty feminine head, clean well laid shoulders, plenty of ribbing & firm hindquarters. Would happily have stolen her, hope she fulfils her ample promise. Good luck! BP; 2 Irving’s Twinan Cherry Picker, such a pretty puppy at a more ‘bumbly’ stage, will be interesting to see how she matures & grows into herself, lovely quality head, sound front with good bone, OK topline, settled to move soundly, winner had a shade more neck; 3 Kubickova’s Great By Lucky Your Love Is Miracle. JB (3) 1 Blance’s Merthyr Wanda Take Ten to Penliath, eyecatching girl with plenty of length & elegance, lovely well chiselled head with dark eyes & well carried ears, neat front with OK shoulders, moved true both ways, looked a picture standing, can just firm a little in topline on the move; 2 Wyer’s Creslow A Town Like Alice at Cottivy, pretty & feminine, quality head, a shade finer in bone, elegant shoulderline, correct topline, strides out well. Both 2 & 3 are much less mature than winner & need time to mature in body but have the scope to grow into in due course, will be interesting to see them in a year or two; 3 Hogg’s Swingatefarm Te Aroha at Keltybrae. PGB (6) 1 Kurien’s Levisbrooks Divine Queen, real eyecatcher with the most exciting outline, lovely reach of arched neck into superbly laid back shoulder with corresponding upper arm, excellent ribbing, firm level topline & well angulated hindquarters, stood true & moved soundly with that rarely seen reach & drive retaining her topline, dark eye, good ear carriage. Close up in the challenge, preferred expression of winner but this one’s make & shape couldn’t be ignored. RCC; 2 D Luna Eclipse; 3 Modlen Mair at E. LB (3) 1 Hollingworth’s Highashes Hits The Spot JW, classy girl full of quality & style, pretty feminine head, good arched neck, well ribbed, firm front, enough substance, moved true with plenty of animation. At times can be lazy with her topline standing but it levels out on the move. I recall giving this class to her dam last time I judged, hope this one follows her to a title; 2 Roper’s Twinan Raise Your Game JW, attractive elegant girl with a very appealing head & expression, OK front, good strong bone, reasonable shoulder, free active sound mover but not so firm in topline going round; 3 Franchi’s Saniaquinto That’s Amore JW. OB (7) Enjoyable class, quality all the way. 1 Warner’s Ch Never Ending Love Story Rudens Legendos, one I admired as a youngster & with maturity & maternity she has really blossomed, a classical type all through with an excellent head, her expression having mellowed with the years, super neck, excellent topline, super overall balance without exaggeration, combines substance with quality, correct amount of bone, true coming & going & a good free even stride going round. The closest to the complete picture today. CC & BOB; 2 Rutherford’s Ch Twinan Dance To The Beat JW, such a pretty girl of a lovely size, refined feminine head with such a typical expression, neatly made all through with perfect topline, enough bone, good feet, well angulated hindquarters, responsive showgirl. Strong contender for the top awards, winners just had a shade more length of stride; 3 Rees’ Ch Stadwen Lucia.
