SCOTTISH DACHSHUND C, April 11

MINIATURE LONGHAIRED - Nice to revisit Glasgow for this show held along with Scottish Hound. Unsurprisingly, given the fuel price uncertainty, there were a number of absentees but I had some classy Min Longs to go over, one litter in particular.

V (1) 1 Woodvine-Shone’s Ch Hanishan Fire Cracker, handsome 7 years shaded red, one I’ve judged before & am pleased he made up, quality head, arrogant expression, super bone & feet, true front, good slope of upper arm, correct topline, well ribbed, neat hindquarters, moved round with style, true coming & going. Close up to RCC, just preferred puppy’s neck & lay of shoulder. BV & BVIS, yet another winner by Bright Future. Beginners (2) 1 McNulty’s Unlocked Heart at Abbykiera, cream female of good general type with plenty of bone, feminine head, good upper arm, reasonable shoulder, OK rib & topline, a shade long in loin, moved true but could have a little more drive behind; 2 Holmes’ Donnydax Galaxy Galore, smaller more refined type cream, at 7 months needs plenty of time to fill out in body & gain more confidence, smart outline, feminine head, OK angulation, could be a bit firmer in front. MPD (3) 1 Mason’s Crownlake Rolls Royce, most promising b/t baby, super type & outline, masculine head, good eye & expression, super neck, excellent front angles, well ribbed, enough forechest, ideal topline retained on the move, moved out smartly with plenty of drive from strong hindquarters, just 6 months but couldn’t resist him for RCC on his many virtues; 2 Woodvine-Shone’s Hanishan StarlightExpress, another with great potential, 8 months b/t with much to admire, good male head, sound front, plenty of bone, good feet, reachy neck, correct matching angulation, true coming & going, close up here, it came down to the final go-round where winner showed a shade more reach & drive; 3 McNulty’s Daniello Felix Star at Abbykiera. PD (1) 1 D Felix Star at A, another nice puppy with a quality look at 8 months, b/t with good bone & feet, well bodied, nicely made hindquarters, moved steadily going round retaining his topline. Not quite so true in front as those who beat him, nor quite the neck. JD (2) 1 Drady’s Indiko Fire And Ice JW, eyecatching masculine cream with an impressive head, correct eye shape giving a super expression, reachy neck, good slope of upper arm, plenty of bone, super body & topline, well angulated hindquarters, long ribbing, came into his own in the challenge where his balanced reach & drive & super head & tail carriage made a lovely overall picture. CC, BOB & BIS; 2 Kasprowicz’s Daniello Diamond Dove, more compact type choc/t, excellent bone, correct topline retained on the move, OK ribbing, slightly upright in front, not quite reach & drive of winner. PGD (3) 1 May’s Scrumptious Red On The Dot JW, well proportioned red, good forechest, body & topline, reasonable shoulders, well angulated hindquarters, OK head type, would prefer a more almond eye shape, scored here going round; 2 Kasprowicz’s Daniello Dreamer Boy, choc dapple, liked his shoulder & upper arm, excellent ribbing & forechest, enough bone, OK feet, preferred winner’s head type, moved true but without much enthusiasm, winner retained his topline better; 3 Cameron & Sutherland’s Kenleap Fire Power. LD (3) 1 Dalton’s Llansansior On The Rocks, cream with smart outline & plenty of coat, masculine head, well boned, feet could be more compact, reasonable shoulder, OK upper arm, retained his outline going round; 2 Kasprowicz’s Wishadax’s Blonde Showman Daniello, nicely balanced cream of similar general type, good eye & expression, shapely body, not quite bone of 1, firm topline, OK upper arm, slightly heavier over the shoulder than 1 & not quite the drive behind; 3 K Fire Power. OD (3) 1 Drady’s Tolberg Black Adder at Indiko, excellent type b/cr, good male head with correct expression, plenty of bone, reasonable shoulder, OK upper arm, well ribbed, strong hindquarters, firm topline, could have a shade more width through the front, looked the part going round; 2 McSorley’s Barlaine Midnight Charmer, quality b/t, excellent bone, prominent forechest, firm topline, good hindquarters, could have a shade more reach in front, not quite as outgoing as winner today; 3 K Fire Power.

MPB (2) 1 Kasprowicz’s Amberdach Inca Lily Daniello, promising 7 months cream, real baby but well balanced overall, feminine head, correct eye shape, enough bone, well angulated, level topline, well made hindquarters, looked well on the move when she settled; 2 D Galaxy Galore. PB (2) 1 McNulty’s Kenbloom Nix Boxwood at Abbykiera, 11 months shaded red of a leggier type, needs to drop into herself, plenty of bone & substance, head could be a shade more feminine. Scored here on side gait; 2 Kasprowicz’s Daniello Sapphire Moon, lower to ground 8 months silver dapple, refined feminine head though muzzle could be a shade stronger, reasonable front angulation, OK ribbing, at this stage topline tended to roach on the move - sure she will grow out of it as she matures. JB (3) 1 Bell’s Indiko A Touch Of Cream at Tolberg JW, classic type b/cr, so satisfying to go over, ideal proportions, lovely head & expression, plenty of bone, true front, matching angulation, super ribbing & topline. No trouble in winning the CC. Hard decision for BOB, filled my eye standing but her brother was more ‘together’ on the move today; 2 Kasprowicz’s Daniello Dream Lady, nice type choc dapple, good head, correct eye shape & expression, good body with prominent forechest, reasonable shoulder, OK upper arm, not quite topline or drive of winner; 3 Unlocked Heart at A. PGB (1) 1 Bell’s Indiko Cast In Cream at Tolberg JW, such a pretty feminine cream, slightly more compact type than her littermates, pretty as a picture, good head, eye & expression, reasonable shoulder, good upper arm, true front, correct feat, well ribbed, steady mover retaining her topline, close up to RCC. LB (1) 1 Webster’s Indiko Eternal Flame, yet another from this top class litter, congratulations to their breeder & parents. Beautiful type b/cr, again a quality head, sound front with correct angles both ends, plenty of bone, stood true in front, lengthy ribbing, strong hindquarters, sound steady mover. CC winner had a shade more neck. RCC. OB (1) 1 Mason’s Crownlakes Million Dreams, quality feminine red of super overall balance, decent front with good bone, correct angles both ends, well bodied, level topline, true coming & going. Preferred heads of final winners, a little reluctant going round today, sure she will have better days.
