Scottish Dobermann Club

Breed: Dobermann

40 years ago I was happy to be showing my own first dobermann at this clubs Ch. Show.

30 years ago I was delighted to win Best puppy in show with one of my homebred pups.

And today I was honoured to judge the Championship show.  Entries of course have reduced vastly but I was pleased with the quality here today, every entry was appreciated. I was surprised to find out many of my winners were sired by the same dog, Ch. Korifey Vanquish, he is certainly making his mark.  Special shout out must go to Tracy McCall the hard working secretary who put on yet another superb show, I was delighted with my gift.

Also big thanks to my stewards for the day, my Golden Girls, Sue Glennon and Allison Bradley.  They kept everything running like clockwork.

Veteran D (3/3) 1st. McLeans Kenaiteen Duck With Nethan. A 7.5 yr old black & rust boy still looking well. Lovely typical head, with a calm confident expression. Well laid shoulders, good depth of chest. Strong level topline and well angulated hindquarters, he moved over well which won him the class and Best Veteran in Show. 2nd. McCalls Via Felicium Vettel. A 9 year old very typical upstanding boy. Super head, elongated wedge with a typical expression. Very strongly built compact lad with terrific bone and lovely compact feet. Just couldn’t match the winner on rear movement today. 3rd. Brodies Otago All American at Jabloch. Minor Puppy D (1/1) 1st. Frames Dobiedar Five Gold Rings. A lovely 6 month old brown/rust lad I’m assuming at his and his handlers first show. He has an excellent head, long strong elongated wedge shape, well filled muzzle, correct almost parallel head planes. Clean neck of good length correctly set into well laid shoulders. Strong bone and very good compact feet. Well angulated rear , he moved very well when settled, in great condition, with a bit more practice and maturity I’m sure he will do very well. Puppy D (1/0) Junior D (1/1) 1st. Kershaws Aritaur Tuscan. What an absolute stallion of a dog. Only 11 months but so full of attitude and swagger I couldn’t take my eyes off him. Very strongly built lad but with elegance in perfect balance. Long strong wedge shaped head with parallel planes, lovely eye, correctly set and carried ears. Clean well shaped neck set cleanly into his correctly angulated shoulders, which flowed seamlessly to his strong slightly sloping topline. Excellent depth of chest and forechest. Strong bone and the best of feet. Clean underline with correct tuckup. Very well angulated hindquarters with super muscle. Balanced vigorous ground covering movement with very accurate footfall. Shown very well on a loose lead, he couldn’t stand wrong at all. Yes he may be slightly too strong in head but for me he was a stand out in the male classes and easily won dog CC, Best Puppy in Show and Res BIS. Yearling D (2/2) 1st. Brown Ingram & Lacks Jojavik Assassins Code JW. An 18 month old well balanced black/rust boy. He has a very typical masculine head with lovely dark almond shaped eyes giving correct expression. Smooth flow of neck to well angulated shoulders. Good bone and tight feet. Powerful well angulated hindquarters, he moved well but I thought he was a bit heavy on the day. 2nd. Hicklings Evalescos Shade of Class. A lovely young lad full of the joys and gave his handler a real workout. Strong masculine head, lovely typical expression but could perhaps be a bit cleaner in lip. More compact than class winner (which I preferred) but he never really settled enough standing or moving. Post Graduate D (1/1) 1st. Merchants Krieger’s Mark Miwords at Mandareus. A lovely 2 yr old upstanding black/rust lad in great condition. Very good head, long wedge shape with almost parallel planes. Beautiful eye shape and colour giving a calm confident typical expression. Clean neck flowed into well laid shoulders. Strong slightly sloping topline. Good depth of chest, strong bone and excellent tight feet. Very compact outline with clean underline. Powerful well angulated hindquarters. I feel he still has a bit of maturing to do before he is at his best, but he is a lovely typical dobe, his profile movement won him the res CC. Limit D (4/3) 1st. Hicklings Evalesco Ego Boost JW. A 3 yr old upstanding compact boy I liked very much. He has a very good head, correct shape of eye giving that typical expression. Good depth of chest and correct forechest. Well angulated both ends, in terrific condition. He retained his strong topline and beautiful compact outline. Moved accurately and soundly when settled but again just wasn’t showing his best on stack or move, in consideration for res cc. 2nd. De Haaffs Krieger’s Limelight JW. Another handsome upstanding black/rust boy of excellent breed type. Another with typical head, strong bone, tight feet and in excellent condition. A very good accurate mover and shown very well, but I preferred the more compact outline of the class winner. 3rd. Gallaghers Manzart Excalibur at Iztalight JW. Open D (3/2) 1st. Evan’s Amazon Showtime JW. A very powerfully built standard size 3 yr old male. Black/rust with rich markings. Very nice long well shaped head with typical expression, but a wee bit more loose skin than I would prefer. He is well angulated both ends and moved accurately, but rather too heavily built for me, lacking the elegance of my main winners. 2nd. Zinedine Zidane Elite Housedel Diego. A black/ rust boy in super condition, smaller than winner. He has a very nice head type with typical expression, I would prefer more angulation both ends, unfortunately this boy didn’t settle standing or moving and didn’t really show himself to advantage. Champion D (8/6). A superb class full of quality. 1st. Downies Ch. Knecht Mirko. Almost 3 year old black/rust boy in excellent condition. He has a super head with length, strength and a well shaped eye giving that typical expression. Lovely depth of chest, forechest, strong bone and the best of feet. Strong topline and presented a good square outline. He moved very well with accuracy, but to nitpick I would prefer a bit more rear angulation. A very worthy champion and very close up for res cc. 2nd. Straceys Ch. Krieger’s Lasting Image. A very stylish young male shown to perfection. Another lovely head. Strong bone and best of feet. Strong topline, good angulation both ends and he moved accurately. I feel he could still body up a bit more and would like to see him in another year or so. Another worthy champion, as was 3rd. Blackburns Ch. Knecht Little Richard JW SHCEX OSW. Veteran B (0/0) Minor Puppy B (0/0) Puppy B (4/4) 1st. Evan’s Amazon Until I Found Her. A beautiful 11 month old girl, very well grown and mature for age. She had an excellent head, long, strong and in proportion to body. Almond shaped dark eye. Correct balanced angulation both ends. Deep chest with good forechest. Strong short topline, strong bone and good feet. Very typical outline and she moved very well. I thought she was lovely, best puppy B and Res CC. 2nd. Hicklings Supetas Black Widow at Evalesco. Yet another lovely black/rust pup with a lovely strong well shaped head. Lovely outline with strong topline, nice depth of chest and good tuckup. Perhaps a wee bit straight in shoulder but very promising and I would like to see her in a year or so. 3rd. Cannons Supetas Jazzylicious. Junior B. (2/2) 1st. De Haaffs Krieger’s New Illusion JW Jun Lux Ch. This was a really lovely 15 month old brown/ rust girl, lovely colour and markings. A very compact standard sized girl in super condition. Very typical head and expression. Deep chest , good forechest and tuckup. Correct angulation and moved well while retaining her topline. Look forward to seeing how she matures. 2nd. Sharps Miannas Full Circle with Martifers. A taller black/rust girl, very elegant and in superb condition. Long wedge shaped head, markings a wee bit light. Not quite the outline of the winner, but a sound accurate mover. Yearling B (3/3) 1st Ingram & Lacks Jojavik Bera Brawnyboots. A strong brown/rust 18 month old girl out of a slightly larger mould. A lovely strong yet feminine head with typical expression. Strong bone and excellent feet. Good depth of chest and forechest. A sound accurate mover when settled but a wee bit on the heavy side for me today. 2nd. Robinson Korifey Matchy Matchy JW. Less mature looking black/rust girl in great condition. Lovely head and expression. Strong topline and compact outline. Could have more angulation both ends and this affected her movement. 3rd. Sharps Mianna Full Circle with Martifers. Post Graduate B (6/5) 1st. Straceys Krieger’s Mirror Image. A 2 year old compact brown/rust girl, and well named as she was almost a mirror image of her younger full sister who won the junior class. Many of the same comments apply, standard sized girl, in super condition and presented a very well balanced picture both standing and on the move. Shown very well. 2nd. Becks Sacarias Blue Jean Baby at Bekesha JW. Another lovely girl, this time black/rust and slightly taller than winner. Another typical head and expression, elegant but strong girl who had a lovely outline. Unfortunately by this time the wind was quite strong and quite a few of the exhibits struggled to settle standing or moving. 3rd. Blackburns Knecht Mirelle JW. Limit B ((3/3) Moss Amazon Fever. Another 2 year old brown/rust compact lass. Elegant and of standard size, with good bone, compact feet and a short strong topline. Good long strong feminine head. Very good balanced angulation and she moved accurately and powerfully, but without much enthusiasm. 2nd. Wards Aritaur Dyptique at Jagelka. Another nice young brown/ rust girl, slightly finer all through than winner. In great condition. Nice head, but the windy conditions didn’t suit this lass and she was roaching her topline on stack and on move. 3rd. Broughtons Korifey Anything Goes. Open B ((6/5) an excellent class. 1st. Taylor & Straceys Krieger’s Mirror Image In Style JW. A striking taller black/rust girl aged 4. One of the few I have judged before, I liked her as a minor puppy and she has matured well. A classy, strong yet elegant girl. She has a very feminine well shaped head which for perfection I would prefer a touch stronger. Good depth of chest, correct forechest and a rock solid topline. Well angulated both ends and she is shown to perfection. On the move today I felt she was going at a slightly faster pace than suited her, perhaps the windy conditions didn’t help. Very close up to top awards. 2nd. Downies Knecht Mileena. Another beautiful black/rust girl who surely also will get her title. In excellent condition, ideal balance of strength and elegance, super typical outline with balanced angulation and an accurate and powerful mover. Her head is long, strong and feminine, but head planes not parallel and I felt her stop was a touch too deep. None the less a beautiful typical dobe. 3rd. Tousent, Ingram & Lacks Jojavik Spangled Mob JW. Champion B ((2/2). A super class 1st. Pardoes Ch. Aritaur Daring at Dobiedar JW. An absolutely classic girl of outstanding breed type. Almost 3 years old and at her peak. Loved her head, eye shape, expression. Her neck just flowed so smoothly into well laid shoulders, and continued along her strong topline to her beautifully carried tail. Deep powerful chest, great forechest, strong bone and tightest of feet. Excellent rear angulation, a clean underline and good tuckup gave her that oh so typical dobe outline. On the move she was powerful and accurate, I just loved her. In excellent condition and shown in an understated manner that let her quality speak for itself. CC and Best in Show.
