Welsh Corgi (Cardigan)

Judge Sarah Taylor

The entry in Cardigans seems to have dropped off a little recently which is probably understandable with the cost of fuel etc. There were quite a few absentees in this entry which was disappointing however I do thank all the exhibitors for their entries.

Special Beginners Dog (1)

1st Smiths Ancksunamun Host of Goa’uld with Yecartracey

A 17 month old brindle point tri of good size and length. Pleasing head type of good proportions with large well set ears. Would prefer more angulation as he lacks forward reach on the move and tends to toe in behind.

PD(1)

1st Cliftons Joseter Jensen

Just 6 months old this brindle boy shows lots of promise. He needs to develop in head and settle on the move but has all the essentials in make and shape.

LD (1)

1st Irvings Twinan True Grit

Well grown young brindle not yet two and a bit unsettled on the table today. Well off for bone, round feet and good masculine head type. Could use a bit more drive in the rear.

OD (3, 1Abs)

1st Goddard & Burgoynes Pemcader Diamond Geezer

Some take their time to come to their best and this five year old blue merle is one of them. He has a lovely classic Cardi head of correct proportions and expression. Good bone and substance leading to correct feet and well developed front. Well angulated rear propelled him soundly and with purpose. Losing a bit of coat which at this time of the year many are but delighted to be able to award him the CC which I genuinely did not realise made him up.

2nd Thomas Aus Ch Mandene Aston Martin (impAus)

Good looking brindle point tri who scored for overall size and shape. I just preferred the winner in eye and angulation but nevertheless a quality dog well deserving the Reserve CC

VD (1)

1st Goddard & Burgoynes Ch Waterdeep Ranger One JW Shcex Sh.cm

Rising 10 this brindle boy is of good overall type possessing substance and good length of ribbing. He went well on the move. Best veteran.

SBB (3, 2Abs)

1st Smiths Ceranda Gower Diamond JW

Brindle very feminine with good head proportions. Well ribbed back. Went well on the move. Slightly shorter nails would improve foot shape.

MPB (2)

1st Cliftons Joseter Morgan Brooklands

This six month old brindle is litter sister to the PD winner. Of very similar type with good front and feet well ribbed back giving correct length and has the angles front and rear to move soundly. Although a long way from being finished my eye kept returning to her for her classic Cardigan make and shape and on the day I found her many virtues enough to award her the Reserve CC and BP.

2nd Hewitts Bethwyn Briar Rose (TAF) (Ai) (Imp Aus)

Real eye catcher a red/white with at the moment some sable shading she is a glorious colour. So much to like about her, she has a lovely eye giving feminine expression. Well made in body with good front and feet. Just needs to strengthen in topline on the move.

PB (3)

1st Hewitts Bethwyn Briar Rose (TAF) (Ai) (Imp Aus)

2nd Goddard & Burgoynes Waterdeep Black Queen

Good sized tri and another with attractive head type. Feet could be tighter.

3rd Sanders Do You Love Me Z Jurajskiego Zamku Gowerston

JB (5, 3 Abs)

1st Bisphop & Essenhigh Lidoffad Tiwlip for Brynlluan Naf Taf

Lots to like with this brindle girl who today was sadly lacking her clothes. Well balanced she displays a good outline and is well ribbed back supporting a level topline. Must have a bright future.

2nd Goddard & Burgoynes Waterdeep Black Queen

PGB (1)

1st Downs Elessar Eclipse The Stars JW

Brindle of good size and type very feminine outlook with good eye and ear set. Well constructed front and feet good length of rib leading to well angulated rear.

LB (4, 1 Abs)

1st Irvings Twinan Truly Outrageous JW

Brindle whose head markings can detract a little from overall look. Scored here with better feet well let down good length and bone. Can carry tail a little high

2nd Davies Joseter Ooh Betty at Ceranda

Brindle with lovely head and expression. Just wish she had tighter feet and can also carry tail high at times which affects her topline on the move.

3rd Smiths Ceranda Gower Diamond JW

OB (5, 3Abs)

1st Cliftons Ch Joseter Morgan Plus Four

A classey brindle she is a classic shape with such good breed type and not overdone in any way. Well developed forequarters with correct front and feet. Possesses the angulation to move smoothly covering the ground with ease. Good head proportions and expression. CC & BOB

2nd Thomas Aus Ch Mandene Pink Diamond of Argyle (Imp Aus)

Brindle point tri of quite different type. A touch lacking in neck but shown in lovely condition and went well.
