Breed: Pastoral Puppy Group

WORKING AND PASTORAL BREEDS ASSOCIATION OF WALES

18 APRIL 2026

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of Working and Pastoral Breeds of Wales for inviting me to judge the Puppy Group. What a lovely group of puppies they were and all owners should be proud of their dogs.

For my short-list I had chose the Bearded Collie, Rough Collie, Samoyed Old English Sheepdog, Shetland Sheepdog and the Pembroke Corgi.

PG1 Reeves’ Charmlea Starblazer, Old English Sheepdog. What an impressive young male, a true Bobtail standing so 4 square, like a miniature shire horse, with a capacious skull, so seldom found in the breed nowadays, beautiful pigment and dark eyes, perfect bite, good fore chest, legs with plenty of bone, swan neck and sloping shoulders, deep chest and good spring of rib, top-line good with a nice rise coming, sound well muscled rear quarters, neat hocks and tail of correct length that when stood you can’t see, very true and sound on the move, presented to beyond perfection with all his white sparkling, I will watch his progress with great interest.

PG2 Cronk/Preddy’s Chelborn Blue Me Away, Collie (Rough). So pretty, blue merle with a lovely head, in good proportion with great expression using her ears well, almond eyes, nice stop and lovely dentition, good pigmentation, a good neck with enough muscle and arch, well set shoulder, good forechest, good top-line, nice neat feet and good hocks, sound rear quarters with good angulation, tail of good length, moved with ease and plenty of drive, presented and shown beautifully.

PG3 Irving’s Born to Be Your Unicum with Twinan (imp HUN), Welsh Corgi (Pembroke). Lovely young man of 8 months with oodles of character, loved his foxy expression and head shape with those ears framing his head, nice dark round eyes, correct bite, nice forechest and well boned straight front legs, deep chest, good length of neck, well placed shoulders, lovely top-line, strong well muscled 1st and 2nd thighs, neat hocks and oval feet giving sound thrust and drive on the move, well presented.

PG4 Walker’s Cuilshelties Touch of Class with Grandgenes, Shetland Sheepdog. Very striking blue merle, lovely head with well placed ears and almond eyes, good pigment and nice mouth, neck well arched and of good length, well laid back shoulders and deep chest, lovely top-line leading into broad hindquarters that are well muscled and very sound giving perfect movement, well presented and shown.
