Thanks to the Crufts committee for inviting me to judge and to my stewards Joe and Shirley. Their expertise and smooth running of the ring made for a very enjoyable time. Also to the exhibitors who supported me with a very good entry both numerically and in quality.
This is a breed that I have now judged on a number of occasions and I was pleased to see the quality has improved since my last appointment. There are some very exciting youngsters coming through the classes. This bodes well for the breed in the future.
One of the pleasures in judging this breed is finding good muscular condition on the majority of exhibits. This only helps with accurate movement, however there were a number which were a little untidy on the out and back today due to lack of condition.
Both my CC winners filled my eye and were what I was looking for today. I felt the BOB represented himself and the breed well in the group and I hope to see him back in this country in the future.

1ST 15558 - Arnac Bay Invincible for Dunakitts (Mrs K Duncanson). Masculine and well built throughout. Broad skull, good finish to foreface, just a shade cheeky. Strong arched neck, well made front assembly, straight front and correct feet. Ribs well sprung, firm topline, good width of quarters. Correct oily coat, in hard condition. Moved well in profile but a shade close behind.
2ND 15590 - Battsrock Are You Ready (Mrs V Royle). Masculine head of good proportions with a lovely expression. Strong neck and good lay of shoulder however would like a little more return of upper arm. Deep chest, well ribbed back, croup falls a little. Enough width of thigh. Good coat. Would like a shade more bone.

2 very raw youngsters both displaying the attributes to have potential in the ring.
1ST 15576 - Tideflight Warrior of Kent (Mr P H Milner). I liked his overall make and shape which was masculine without being overdone. Good angulation both ends however needs to fill his frame. Very good coat. Rather playful on the move but I saw enough to see his soundness.
2ND 15586 - Penrose Willpower (Miss C A Pont). Very appealing head and expression. Well proportioned with good neck and shoulder with desired return of upper arm. Needs to fill his frame as expected for his age. Good bend of stifle and width of thigh. Needs more confidence to get the best out of him. Excellent coat. Moved covering plenty of ground just needs to settle.

1ST 15568 - Fair Filippo Od Hošťálky (Mrs Jana & Miss G Kuchařová) CC. BOB. Strong, masculine dog who presents a very typical outline. Broad, clean head with well-defined stop, good strength of muzzle and correct amber eye giving the keen, intelligent expression desired in the breed. Moderate length of neck leading into well laid shoulders and a firm topline, hindquarters slightly higher than the withers. Well-developed chest with good depth and well-sprung ribs providing plenty of heart room. Strong bone and straight front with powerful quarters and a good bend of stifle. Correct tail set and carriage completing the balanced outline. Coat of good harsh texture with the dense, oily quality expected. Moved with drive and purpose, covering the ground efficiently while maintaining a steady topline. A very sound, workmanlike dog who presented the typical picture I was looking for.
2ND 15583 - Riptide Gentlemens Relish (Mr R & Mrs S Playle & Thomas). RCC. Masculine, well made dog of good type. Strong, well balanced head with broad skull, moderate stop and clean cheeks, his clear, intelligent eye giving the correct bright and alert expression. Muzzle of good length with powerful jaws. Strong, medium length of neck leading into well laid shoulders and a firm, level topline. Chest deep with well sprung ribs carried well back, giving plenty of heart room. Straight front with strong bone and tight, well knuckled feet. Well muscled quarters with good bend of stifle and strong hocks providing drive. Coat correct in texture with the desired harsh, slightly oily feel. On the move he was sound and purposeful, covering the ground well with good reach and drive but just not as accurate behind as the winner.

Powerful quarters with good bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Coat correct in texture with the desired oily feel. Moved soundly both ways with purpose and drive, covering the ground with ease. She had carriage and style combined with a little mischief. I loved her and she could not be denied top honours today.
