Gordon Setter
Delighted to judge in Scotland for my first CC appointment. Thank you to the society for the invitation. My super steward and to the exhibitors for entering - I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment.
A quality entry overall I felt the bitches had the edge in quality.

YD 2 Two super youngsters
1st Sinclair Laurelhach Bugatti at Siochail 21m . Liked this young boy. Super head on him with a soft melting expression. Lovely hind angulation with good muscle tone. Good forechest and balanced through. Presenting a lovely outline and all male. He was a little erratic behind today but moved well in profile. Lovely coat coming but would prefer a cleaner tan.
2nd Hogg & Hogg Gailiech Wirnpa. 21m. Finer boned boy and I preferred the angulations on 1. He has a good head on him that flows into level topline. Not quite as developed in forechest. Balanced through. In good coat and better tan than 1. Just needs a bit more time to come together.

1st Cuthbertson Lainnireach Star Gazer JW 2yrs. Such a super outline on this young dog. He has a beautiful head, lovely length of neck into a super topline. So masculine throughout. Well angulated front and rear. He still needs to fully develop in forechest and spring of rib. In great coat and shown in great condition. His movement was fabulous with great reach and drive. Considered for top honours, I am sure he will do well.
2nd Miller Cafotaliena Heart of a Hero JW 2yrs A dog of good size with great angulations fore and aft. Head could be more defined in stop but he has a kind expression. Lovely coat and good colour. Moved well.
LD 1
1st Miller Liric Just the Ticket. 7yrs. Balanced dog but tended to drop his topline. I liked his head with good low ear set. A little throaty. Arched neck into good shoulders and good bend of stifle. He has a good depth of chest. Moved out well.

What a class of excellent dogs. Spoilt for choice and really close call between 1 and 2. Just WOW! Thank you!
1st and DCC Michalak Sh Ch Forester’s Northern Hunter of Darkmoor with Gadieburn JW (IMP DEU) 3yrs. Pipped 2nd to 1st place on his overall substance ‘a true weight carrying hunter’. Loved him. From his super masculine head with ears low set and the most beautiful expression. Arched neck strong level topline and tailset, balanced fore and aft with strong muscled hindquarters. Just flowed tip to tail. In super coat with clean tan. Really powerful, tidy movement covering the ground well. So pleased to go over him as have admired him ringside. Pleased to award him the DCC.
2nd Collins-Pitman and Cox Sh h Amscot Air Apparent 3yrs So much to like about this young male. A lovely size and very balanced. His handler really does get the best from him. Loved his head. Again level in topline with super angulation and another with great muscle. His movement was a joy to watch. He just needs a tad more substance which will come with age. Tan could be a cleaner. RCC.

Super class showing that the Gordon just get better and better with age. All 3 were in fabulous condition and could easily swap places. It was a close decision between all three. Well done on the owners keeping them in great shape.
1st and BV Harker Sh Ch Hernwood Achilles at Ettrick JW A favourite of mine! He his still looking great at 8yrs and still can move it. He really had to pull the stops out to win. But it was his movement than pushed him to first – just powering round the ring. He has a typical Gordon outline. His angulation is excellent front and rear and whilst up for size very balanced. A super head on him. In good muscle still. In good coat. In the challenge he decided he didn’t want to stand and tended to drop his topline.
2nd Bain Sh Ch Palangor Moonlight Echo at Pangarak 7 ½ yrs. Again in great shape and muscle tone which meant he covered the ground with ease. A lovely size boy. Another balanced dog with great angulations. Really like his head undeniably male! Level topline and great depth of chest on him. Good rear angulation. In good coat and a lovely tan.
3rd Bell, Millar and Bell Balnakeil Beinn Corradail of Blairbelles Another super veteran dog. Moving well just didn’t match the first two. Masculine head with kind expression with a glint of mischief.

Close decision as each could change place another day.
1st Collins-Pitman Amscot She’s No Angel She presented a striking outline and topped the class with her effortless movement. Head is feminine and she has a kind expression. Straight front and good rear angulation with excellent muscle. A strong level topline and tailset. Liked her a lot.
2nd Bell, Millar and Bell Laurelhach Mercedes at Blairbelles JW Lovely compact balanced bitch. Another with a beautiful feminine head. She presents a lovely outline - a tad bum high today. Has substance, excellent bone and well muscled. Another who covered the ground well. Am sure these two will swap places often.

1st Green Balnakeil Creag Rainich JW 3yrs Easy winner of this class a compact b but with substance without being heavy - sadly she tended to drop her topline standing - but held well on the move. Straight front and balance. Loved her clear tan markings. Easy movement - I forgave her tending to fly her tail today.
2nd McFarlane Ardnadam Willow Coppice at Macdui 3yrs Carrying a little weight today which spoiled her outline. She has a good head and kind expression. Couldn’t match the forechest of the winner. Level topline and good tailset. Really good tan. She had a tendency to pace so handler needs to recognise this and work on it, but when she didn’t she moved out very well on strong hocks.
3rd Pearce Ardnadam Hazelnut Litter sister to 2 and very similar remarks just not moving her best today.
LB 3 (1a)
1st and BCC and BOB Cuthbertson Lainnireach A Star is Born JW 3yrs An absolutely stunning b. So much to like about her. Her outline is all Gordon. I loved her size and shape. A beautiful headpiece which is so feminine. Everything flowed from tip to tail! Really balanced with a solid strong topline. Excellent forechest, good neck and super angulation, good bone. In lovely coat and condition but it was when she moved she came alive with super reach and drive. Really loved her! In the challenge for BOB she upped a gear and I couldn’t take my eyes off her.
2nd Yates Gailiech Iris Goddess my notes say fidgetpants! 3yr b that gave her handler a hard time but well done for keeping her on track! Feminine b with a good outline when she stood still! Good front and rear angulation - moved well.
OB 3
Another fabulous open class
1st Roberts Sh Ch Moonglade Lily Mae Magic This b won this class on her substance and forechest. Liked her for size - compact b and well balanced all through. Last judged her as a youngster and she still so wonderful! She is a quality b and so feminine. Pretty head, dark eye and soft expression. Excellent angulations. Moves so well but the Limit bitch just had that extra something today. RBCC.
2nd O’Kelly and Hancock Sh Ch Caradilis Sparks Will Fly JW larger framed b but still quality and feminine. She has a fabulous head. Strong neck into a good topline which she held on the move and standing. Good depth of chest. Lovely mover - really drives out well.
