Polish Lowland Sheepdog

Thank you to the exhibitors for their sporting entry and warm welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment and was presented with a quality collection of Polish Lowland Sheepdogs. Temperaments throughout were excellent making the dogs a pleasure to assess.

I was pleased to find good breed type throughout the entry. Whilst all were recognisable as Polish Lowland Sheepdogs, the consistency of breed type varied, with some exhibits displaying the desired breed characteristics more strongly than others. Movement in profile was generally sound, although rear movement was less consistent across the entry. In a number of exhibits, greater rear muscle tone and over condition would, I believe, improve stability and drive behind. Presentation was of a high stand. I would, however, encourage exhibitors to remember that grooming should enhance rather than alter the dog’s natural appearance, allowing the breed to retain its honest, functional, rustic character.

1st 2433 - Naylor & Cudworth’s Skaijak's Make N'mayhem

11mths. A well-balanced youngster with a pleasing head and expression, complemented by a lovely dark eye. Good muscle tone for his age with sufficient croup. Moved cleanly coming and going, displaying an easy, rhythmic side gait that caught my eye. A promising puppy with a bright future. RBD & BPIB.

1st 2424 – Fooks’ Mybeards Marble

13mths. Balanced overall with a pleasing dark eye and typical expression. I would have preferred a little more angulation, which was reflected in his rear movement, although he held a satisfactory outline in profile. Would just like to see a little more reach on the move.

1st 2423 – Crosier’s Skaijaks Last N’limitless

2yrs. Balanced and well proportioned, presenting a pleasing outline. Moved freely in profile with an easy stride and was clean moving away, which gave him the advantage in this close class.

2nd 2437 - Mybeards Starstruck (Mr As Squires)

Almost 3yrs. Another quality exhibit who pushed the winner hard. Just lacked the length of neck of the winner, giving a slightly shorter outline in profile. Moved satisfactorily in profile and remained tidy going away.

1st 2428 – Hillier’s Ch Mybeards Zip (ai)

4yrs. The abundance of coat on the feet initially gave the impression of weakness in pastern, although this was not the case on examination. Balanced throughout with pleasing proportions and a good dark eye. Typical make and shape, moving soundly away and maintaining his outline in profile.

2nd 2438 - Warwick & Wilkins’ Ch Mybeards Cococabana

5yrs. A slightly cobbier dog than the winner. Tended to slope away a little from the withers, which affected his outline. Moved adequately in profile, although I would have preferred a tidier rear action.

1st 2425 – Hardie’s Ch Mybeards Huckleberry

7yrs and presented in hard, well-muscled condition. Pleasing head and expression with an overall make and shape that appealed. Moved with an easy, rhythmic stride in profile and remained tidy coming and going. BD, BOB & BVIB.

Junior Bitch 3,1

1st 2431 – Naylor’s Borgakers Vi Ska Bada Bastu at Skaijak (Imp Fin) TAF NAF

14mths. Nicely balanced throughout with good muscle tone and an attractive expression. Moved freely in profile, showing herself well, and remained tidy enough coming and going. Alert and attentive throughout.

2nd 2426 – Heavens’ Ponitaspring's Abbey Road

14mths. Another balanced young bitch who is a little finer throughout than the winner. Shows plenty of promise and just needs time to come together.

1st 2421 – Churchouse’s Mybeards Trickle

18mths. Balanced overall with a pleasing outline in profile. Rear movement still needs to strengthen and tended to toe in a little on the return. Nevertheless, enough overall quality to head the class. RBB.

Limit Bitch 2,0

1st 2429 - La Frenais’ Skaijak’s Just N’joyous of Ponradosc

5yrs. A quality bitch with pleasing overall balance and sound construction. Particularly liked her reach and outline. Moved cleanly coming and going with a lovely profile action. Would benefit from more polished handling, but her overall quality was sufficient to secure the class and go BB.

2nd 2432 – Naylor’s Skaijaks Last N'luksurious

2yrs. Balanced throughout and presented in immaculate condition. Expertly handled. I would have preferred a little more angulation and she could not quite match the reach or overall profile movement of the winner.

1st 2427 – Heavens’ Rozmaryna Pastereczki (Imp Pol)

4yrs. Feminine head and expression with pleasing balance throughout. Finer in bone than some, but in keeping with her overall make and shape. Moved well in profile and remained tidy enough coming and going.

Veteran Bitch

1st 2434 – Shrieves’ Ch/int/ir/nld/lux/dk/bel Ch Mybeards Hope Bel/nl/lux/de Vch Ir Cent Ch An Ch22 Cw19/22/23 Bw22

10yrs and still presenting a pleasing overall make and shape. Balanced throughout, although a touch close behind. Moved soundly and maintained a pleasing outline in profile.
