Schipperke Club Championship Show

Many thanks to the Committee of the Schipperke Club for the kind invitation to judge their Club Championship Show in conjunction with Birmingham National. Thanks to Melanie Reed-Peck for looking after me and to Mick Donaldson for stewarding and to the exhibitors for the nice atmosphere at ringside and the quality of their dogs.

Thankfully Schipperkes are a long lived breed and while as youngsters they are very mischievous and funny, their best years are from middle age onwards, where they develop a confidence and self-assurance, physically their expression sharpens and their trademark silhouette gains substance and dignity. For me this was very evident and my main winners were Veterans, who were just a joy to judge and enjoy.

Puppy Dog (1)

1. Hayes’, Fandals X Offender at Huron, 9 months old, excellent size with a very pleasing outline. Excellent type, nicely balanced head with a dark eye and ears of good size well carried. Nice flow from the neck into an excellent topline. Good bone and feet, coat texture is ok, angulations are balanced. Nice steady temperament, he moved well particularly in the side gait. Reserve CC Dog and Best Puppy in Breed.

Post Graduate Dog (2)

1. Zamachowski & Sobolewski’s, Miofrey Charismatic, 2 years old, he has a balanced head, nice eye, excellent ears well carried. Pleasing outline, could have slightly better proportions in depth of body. Angulations are balanced front and rear and he has good texture of coat, very pleasing temperament. His sidegait was good, but coming towards he is still a little loose.

2. Wearing’s, Miofrey Dazzling, 2 years old, with a very pleasing head, lovely eye and expression and the tiniest of ears, well carried. He has a nice reach of neck and a good topline, he is very deep in the chest which spoils proportions and the outline. Excellent bone and feet, very nice temperament, could have a little more balance on the move.

Special Open Cream Dog (1)

1. Massey’s, Ch Ristine Magical Spice, 6 years old cream, a pleasing type with a balanced head, lovely eyes and his ears are good size and well carried. I would prefer a better flow to his topline and better body depth proportions. Good bone and feet, coat texture is ok, nice steady temperament, he has a nicely balanced sidegait.

Champion Dog (4,1)

1. Donaldson’s, Ch & Ir Ch Zorbaloo Don Julio, 3 years old, he is a pleasing type who is very compact in the body and presents a very nice outline. He has a nice eye and his ears are of good size and shape, nice flow from the neck into a good topline. Good bone and feet, very well handled and presented. Could be a little tidier in front coming towards, but an excellent sidegait.

2. Rollinson & Manners’, Ch & Ir Ch Summerhaze Shafran Among Chadbower, 5 years old and very mature male with a strong temperament. He has a masculine head with very nice eye and expression and ears well carried. Coat texture is ok, he can stand better in front at times. Moves quite wide in front coming twards, sidegait was good.

3. Massey’s, Ch Ristine Magical Spice.

I would prefer a slightly better flow to his topline, he has excellent coat texture. Angulations are balanced, he is a little weak in pastern, but has a really good sidegait for his age, well done to his owner having him looking so well.

1. Manners & Scales’, Roopec Keep Up With Me, 2 years old typy female with a wonderful temperament. She has a balanced head with a nice eye, though a shade prominent. 2. Massey’s, Miofrey Magical with Ristine, 2 years old, pleasing head with a medium dark eye. I would prefer her a shade more compact in the body. 3. Manners & Scales’, Roopec Just One More, 2 years old with balanced head, lovely eye and her ears are well carried. Good flow from the neck, could stand a little better in the front and I found her a little shallow in the body at this time. Very well handled, brisk movement.
