YKC Members’ Junior Handling

28th MARCH 2026

Well done to all the juniors taking part in these classes for the professionalism and for the very sporting attitudes demonstrated in the ring. A lesson to us all.

6-11 year olds

4 keen handlers in this class each treating their charges sensitively and with respect. A small piece of advice; do listen to what the judge asks you to do. For example, a small triangle does not mean use the entire ring.

1st-Libby Burke handling a Papillon. Close contest for 1st and 2nd here. Libby was very calm, had her dog in the correct place whenever I looked at her and moved the dog very well.

2nd-Mia Craney handling a Cavalier. As I said was close up. Very calm performance, exhibiting the dog and not herself. The dog looked a picture standing and Mia moved her charge well.

12-17 year olds

1st Alexis Kirkwood-Emery handling a Chinese Crested. Excellent performance from this young lady. Had the dog looking good whenever I glanced over and concentrated on getting the best out of the dog. Gaited at just the right pace. Well done.

2nd Amelia Patterson handling a Peke. A different style of handling required for this breed and Amelia did it very well. Kept the dog tidy but was not constantly brushing. Had the pace just right for the dog and listened to instructions.

18-24 year olds

A very good standard of handling in this class.

1st Sophie Wildig handling an Affenpinscher. Flawless performance from Sophie handling a puppy. She had the puppy showing perfectly, stood foot perfect and moved her beautifully at just the right pace with no complicated lead changes. Well done.

2nd Emily Moores handling a Pomeranian. This young lady gave Sophie a run for her money. Was equally accomplished and worked hard to get the dog to present a pleasing outline. Moved beautifully.
