Norfolk Terrier

It is always a pleasure to judge the Norfolks and they are one of my favourite terrier breeds to judge. My last appointment was a club Ch show where I was very much spoilt for choice. On this occasion I found an overall slight dip in quality and more variation in type than I have previously seen, particularly in the heads with quite a variety of head types and ears. One or two were lacking a bit of attitude.

On the plus side coats and presentation were very good, handling was good and generally they were in good condition. My principal winners were all quality Norfolks and the puppies were a joy to judge..

Norfolk Terrier-Veteran Dog

1ST Watercroft Brown Boots (Miss L V Powell)-very typical, super temperament and moved ok in all directions. Not the most masculine of heads but he made the very best of himself and in good nick for his age.

Norfolk Terrier - Puppy Dog

1ST Watercroft Rumour Has It (Mrs R Gee)-presents a good outline, holds his topline well and is correctly proportioned. Looks good on the move. Has a lovely jacket in great condition. Just a touch long in foreface for me but Norfolk heads can be slow so he has time on his side here. Typical of his breeding and shows promise.

1ST Belleville Turn The Tables (Mrs C S Thompson-Morgan)-lots to like about this youngster, scores heavily for compactness, good topline, sound and showy, correct head proportions and a very typical head, eye could be a touch darker. Good drive from the rear.

Good class to judge

1ST Kinsridge Dark Moon (Miss D Jenkins)-I like the masculinity of this boy as he is masculine but not coarse. Good body proportions. Best head in the class and correct ears. Moves well. Good jacket and well presented. Is slightly frustrating as he can be a bit uncooperative and this pegged him in the challenge. When he stood he looked lovely.

2ND Littlemount Celyn Y Mor (Mrs P A Ward)-competitive dog, presents a good outline and has good temperament, decent topline, not quite as tidy in front as the winner and not quite as good in head but will always be there or thereabouts.

 3RD Belleville in A Word (Mrs J & Mr N Thompson & Pope)

Norfolk Terrier - Open Dog

1ST Ch Watercroft Easy Tiger JW (Mrs R Gee)-came in meaning business and scores heavily in temperament and showmanship. On first look he is very typy, in good coat and condition and well presented, compact and unmistakeably a male. Super headed boy, good in front, decent proportions and a good outline. Is on form and easy to see why he does so well. CC and BOB.

2ND Ch Layhefields Great Ridge by Belleville (Mrs C S Thompson-Morgan)-I liked the type of this boy too, good head and expression, very good topline, nice front, in good coat and condition and showed well. Res CC

Norfolk Terrier - Puppy Bitch

Entries: 4 Absentees: 0

These puppy bitches were a delight. Puppy bitches do alter a lot as they mature so it will be interesting to see the competition between them as they develop.

1ST Jaeva Rings A Bell (Mrs K Tate)-this one took my eye today. Super attitude, good proportions, has the makings of a lovely head, good fronted girl, well presented and handled. Should have a bright future as she shows great promise. Best puppy

2ND Littlemount Raspberry Leaf (Mrs P A Ward)-another that was typy, looked good standing and going round. Not quite the quality head of the winner and front needs to tighten a little, in lovely puppy coat and is overall very pleasing. Good attitude.

3RD Watercroft Flamin Nora (Mrs R Gee)

Norfolk Terrier - Junior Bitch

1ST Layhefields Cheesecake by Belleville (Mrs C S Thompson-Morgan)-14 months, not very happy today so not easy to assess, I liked her head and body proportions looked ok..

Norfolk Terrier - Post Graduate Bitch

Entries: 2 Absentees: 1

1ST Kinsridge Pink Diamond (Miss C Barrow)-good coat and decent body, delightful temperament, would prefer a little more bone and substance.

Norfolk Terrier - Limit Bitch

Entries: 2 Absentees: 1

1ST Jaeva Poker Face (Mrs K Tate) another in good coat and condition with good temperament, very typy, pretty head correctly proportioned. Still needs to drop a fraction in body. One of the best tails of the day as it was straight and upright.

  Norfolk Terrier - Open Bitch

Entries: 5 Absentees: 0

1ST Ch Kinsridge Strawberry Moon (Miss D Jenkins)-very much my type, takes the eye when she comes into the ring, in lovely coat and well presented, feminine but not fine, lovely head, compact body, good outline standing and moving, moves well in all directions. A well deserved CC

2ND Villassa Quota of Kisses at Earthtaw JW (Miss J & Miss K Haydon & Hurrion)- I liked this one the more I looked at her, compact, good type, shows well and presents a good outline. Feminine but with enough bone and substance. Tail could be a little better set but overall a quality Norfolk. Res CC

3RD Ch Watercroft Stitch in Time JW (Mrs R Gee)
