Irish water spaniels SKC

Can I thank the committee of SKC for inviting me to judge, this is a breed I so enjoy judging as its challenging, however I'm sorry to have to say this but the nervousness of a couple was a little surprising for me. Thanks to my stewards today its must have been a long day for you both.

1ST 3966 - Foulby Storm Warning (Mr J & Mrs A Hackett & Williams) the well-used term of this breed is the “clown” and he certainly is 100%. He gave is handler such a hard time to be honest I liked him. He is so full of character. He is young and no doubt he will go on to other things as he grows and develops his mind to concentrate if only for a few seconds. When he is on the move he certainly moves freely and soundly. RDCC

1ST 3964 - Curlyco Sirius at Cairteila (Mrs C Foody) absolutely lots to like about this dog from his head to his quarters. his overall outline is good with great ribs, strong couplings and good quarters. his head and expression is so true. However I would prefer to see a better tail set. But this certainly didn’t detract from his free striding movement.

2ND 3975 - Ir Sh Ch Bogbairns Down The Rabs at Weemaes (Mr F & Mrs J Mccallum) for me this dog fitted the standard and breed type well, his head and expression is a delight to see. good shoulders and front, good ribs and strong quarters. just when on the move I preferred the winner today.

1ST 3961 - Sh Ch Stanegate Standing Ovation (Mrs J L Carruthers) absolutely nothing overdone at all in all departments, she is strong and upstanding, and without doubt compact. Nothing exaggerated in any way. I loved her head shape and balance, her strong clean neck and good shoulders, excellent ribs and strong loin. She uses her quarters to the full on the moved displaying that typical rolling when on the move which can only come from the good ribs she has. I was delighted to award her the BCC and BOB and thrilled to see her win group 2 later in the day.

2ND 3960 - Sh Ch Stanegate Stage Debut (ai) ShCEx (Mrs L A & Mr P Bradley) how I love this bitch in all areas of her body and head. She is an absolute delight. 1ST 3976 - Bogbairns Lagoon Lass (Mrs Sylvia Potter) she was 3rd in post grad today and at that point both owner and dog wasn’t sure what to do or what to expect. She settled and became relaxed and she certainly showed her qualities when on the move especially when viewed in profile. Please keep showing her and both will come to enjoy this great hobby and enjoy every moment.
