Thank you to the Committee for their very kind invitation to judge their very prestigious show and for making me feel so welcome, it was an absolute privilege and honour. The atmosphere around the ring was fabulous and so friendly with all my placing’s and top awards so well received. The quality of the dogs and bitches was of the highest standard and the future of the breed is in a very safe and healthy position. Finally, I would like to thank my steward Gail for all her hard work and support throughout the day. Again, thank you to everyone for making my day very special.
Minor Puppy Dog (2)
- Monk & Jones OLEARIA WESTFALEN ONE LOVE, 8m old he presented a very balanced picture for his age, compact with a quality broad skull, correct depth of muzzle with small pendant shaped ears dark oval eyes and an alert expression. His body is maturing nicely for his age with a muscular neck correct shoulder placement and straight forelegs with ample bone. He has ample depth of chest with a firm straight back slightly sloping croup with correct tail set and carriage. His hindquarters are still work in progress, but he has good angulation and ample muscle. Fabulous markings all well-defined. On the move his back was nice and firm and he had good stride as he moved round the ring with ease. BPD and pleased to award him BPIS. He certainly has a bright future ahead of him.
- Aspinall’s OLEARIA WESTFALLEN THE ONE, 8m litter brother to 1, slightly heavier in build and well-proportioned for his age. His head is balanced of a good width with close set pendant ears and a dark watchful gaze. He has a good length neck, strong well boned forelegs with a firm back and ample spring of rib. His hindquarters are developing nicely with sufficient muscle and compact round feet. He was on his toes moving round the ring but needed to settle to give a balanced picture.
Puppy Dog (1)
- Brereton’s HEIDEVANS MARIUS PAVEL, 9m well developed for his age, solid with plenty of bone. His head is masculine in appearance with good width and depth of muzzle, neat high set pendant ears and dark oval eyes full of expression. He is slightly longer in the body than I would have preferred with good shoulder placement, a muscular back and well sprung ribs. Whilst his hindquarters are well muscled, he is straighter in the stifle than I would have liked. His movement was free and unrestricted with correct tail carriage.
Junior Dog (4, 1)
- Moss’s CHANTAVORY’S WONDER BOY, this 16m youngster certainly lived up to his name Wonder Boy! Whilst he stood out in his class, he excelled in the Challenge despite being up against some top-quality older opposition. He certainly has all the desired qualities outlined in the Breed Standard and is a fantastic example whilst still not the finished product! His head is exceptional, broad across the skull, of a good length and moderately arched with a deep clearly defined muzzle and well-marked. His ears are set high of the correct size and lying close to his head. He has bags of expression coming from his deep dark almond shaped eyes and powerful jaws. His neck is muscular and round set on well-defined sloping shoulders; his forequarters are strong well boned with elbows set close to his body. In profile he presents a balanced picture with a broad chest and deep ribs, a very firm muscular back nice and straight with short loins and a gradually sloping croup. His hind quarters are well developed, powerful with ample muscle, strong hocks and well bent stifles. On the move he excelled, driving round the ring with a level back and a strong rotary motion from the hindlegs, especially in the challenge for the DCC & BIS when he stepped up a gear! Both the handler and dog were always in tune with each other. I had no hesitation in awarding him the DCC and pleased to follow this up with BIS even though he was up against an equally formidable bitch CC winner, it was his day!
- Fell’s TANEVEN DUTCH, 17m longer in length and height to 1 but still in proportion. He has a good width masculine head with a deep muzzle and dark almond shaped eyes with slightly larger pendant shaped ears. His neck is muscular with sloping shoulders, well boned straight forelegs with a firm level back, although longer in the loin with ample chest and deep ribs. He has good hind angulation with ample muscle and a well bent stifle. On the move he held his tail well and whilst he covered the ring ok, I would have like to have seen more drive as he moved round.
- Bradley’s TANEVEN DANJO.
Yearling Dog (5, 1)
- Gibson’s FLASH WIZARD MONTENEGRO ROTT DIESTER (IMP MNE), 19m I liked the look of this dog from the moment he entered the ring, very compact and powerful in appearance, very alert and on his toes and raring to go! He has a very strong masculine head, broad and nicely arched with a deep muzzle and strong jaws, with high set close lying pendant shaped ears. His neck is muscular and round set on powerful sloping shoulders with well boned straight forelegs and tight elbows. He has a deep chest with well sprung ribs, a firm muscular back with short loins and a gradually sloping croup with correct tail set. His hindquarters are very muscular and well angulated with strong hocks. Overall, his markings are very clean and well defined. On the move he presented a very balanced picture, powerful with plenty of forward reach and good stride. He certainly has the wow factor, and I was very pleased to award him the RDCC on merit.

His neck is of a good length nicely rounded set on a good length straight back gradually sloping at the croup. He is well angulated with strong forelegs and ample bone, well sprung deep ribs and level flank and strong tail thick at the root and well set. His hindquarters are powerful with well-muscled thighs and strong hocks enabling him to drive round the ring with ease and purpose.
- Jarvie’s MARRAMEAD PRINCE OF MORAR, he presented a very square picture in profile shorter in length than 1. His head is in proportion to his body broad with a clean muzzle and dark almond shaped eyes. I would have preferred more length of neck especially as his coat is longer in this area which detracts from his outline. He has a muscular body with a strong back, well boned straight forelegs and a deep chest with well sprung ribs. His hindquarters are muscular and powerful with a well bent stifle and good angulation. On the move he held his back well and ran round the ring with ease.

Champion Dog (8)
By far the strongest class of the day and all outstanding dogs competing on their own merit as Champions. Unfortunately, 3 dogs had to go cardless, which was no reflection on them.
- Appleyard’s CH JANTAVIA FLEETWOOD MAC JW, a very imposing male stalwart in every way, physically strong, sturdy and dependable. He is correctly proportioned with a very broad masculine head with good width and a moderate arch; his muzzle is well defined, and his jaws are powerful with firm flews. - Monk & Jones CH WESTFALEN OLERIA TEAM SPIRIT JW, in preparing my notes I noticed that his sire is the class winner and it is plain to see many of his qualities have been passed down the line.
