Blackpool & District Canine Society

Many thanks to the Officers & Committee for the opportunity to judge at my local show and to my ring steward for her patience over a long day. It was a long wait for the breed to get in the ring and the day was quite hot although there was a little breeze. I tried to take account of this and make allowances for dogs who may have been feeling the heat and prevented them showing at their best. I was very pleased with all my ticket winners and by the general quality of the exhibits with very competitive classes,  the depth within bitches was better than the males, with several who I felt worthy of a ticket. Presentation was good with clean coats and only a few exhibits having dirty teeth 

Finally many thanks to the exhibitors for their sportsmanship and the good atmosphere they created around the ring.

A nice class to start with, litter brothers just 6 months old with lots of potential and little to separate them.  

1ST Birmingham’s Sukeshi Shadow Dance for Takatori W/B nicely shaped youngster with well proportioned head set on a good length of neck. Well angulated front with correct feet. Good depth of chest for their age. Gently arched topline with a good length of loin. Nice rear angulation with good length of stifle. Long tail carried low and despite some puppy exuberance he was straight and strode out in profile with good extension. 

2ND Odell’s Sukeshi Dance with Another  W/B with so many of the virtues of his brother good masculine head with veining starting to develop well arched topline but would prefer a bit more length of loin, although he should lengthen as he matures. Confident on the move with typical puppy enthusiasm not quite the profile movement of his brother yet.

1ST Walsh’s Iros Sarov Veya Feya (Imp Skv) 14 mth, w/cream. Balanced head with nice dark eyes and well set ears, veining developing well. Neck nicely arched and carried at the correct angle.   Would prefer less slope of pastern and more cat like front feet and benefits from being stood a little wider. He has a gently arched topline with good length of loin. Steady and straight on the move working well with his handler and well presented. He’s currently at an in between stage of development  and just needs time to body up and mature

1ST Birmingham’s Takatori Barnum 4yo impressive w/gold covering a lot of ground when stood, his full coat beautifully presented. Well proportioned masculine head with a nicely shaped dark eye. Nice shoulder with good return of upper arm excellent depth of chest with prominent pro-sternum providing width at the front, a pleasing topline and good fallaway. I would prefer slightly tighter front feet and slightly more slope of pastern. When I last judged him 2 years ago he was carrying a little too much adolescent weight which affected his movement but today he is muscular, well bodied with straight movement front & rear and good angulation. Just preferred his overall presence today over 2nd. RCC.                                                                                                                                                                                  

2ND Harvey’s Lynx Tell A Tale of Albaneiler (Imp Swe) 23 mth w/mahogany, elegant balanced male with full, flowing coat. Well proportioned head with dark eye, well filled in, gently domed skull with pronounced occiput. Nicely arched topline although I would prefer a little more length of loin. Good depth of chest. Correct feet front & rear. Well angulated rear with good bend of stifle and well let down hocks Light easy movement with drive & reach although he was a little happy which affected his front placement coming towards.

1ST    Harvey’s Ch Astragorn Zeus Glory of Albaneiler (Imp Aus) (ai) Jww23 Cw23 Cjw23 4yo w/sable. A striking dog that to me epitomises a male borzoi. Beautiful, balanced masculine head with well developed veining, dark eyes and correctly shaped skull. Well set ears. Strong neck held at the correct angle. Well angulated front with good width and prominent pro sternum, gently sloping pasterns and correctly shape cat feet. He has a flowing topline, with length of loin flowing into his fall away. Good length of thigh and bend of stifle with nice low hocks. Moved straight going away and coming back. On the go around he was positive with adequate extension, although to be picky I think he has the potential to give more. Delighted to give him CC & BOB.

 2ND    White’s Mischran Luther 8y/o  w/black. Evenly proportioned head with muzzle flowing into the skull with only a gentle stop. Strong, well set neck flowing into a well arched topline.  Nice straight front with gently sloping pasterns and good, arched feet. He has a good depth of chest. At the rear I would prefer more bend of stifle. He was well presented in far fitter condition that when I last saw him which reflected in his movement which was far more balanced and went on with drive.

1ST    White’s Mischran Luther BV

2ND    Raczka’s Jamarqui Alchemy Argent ShCEx VW 7yo w/ gold. He has improved with age and with his profuse coat he fills the eye. His head is well proportioned , with a dark eye and well set ears but in profile I would prefer a less concave line from muzzle to skull. Good strong neck carried at a pleasing angle on the move. angle. Good front with correct angulation, straight legs with nice slope of pastern and good feet. He has a deep chest with a good spring of rib.              Standing I would like more length of loin which makes the arch of his topline look more exaggerate than it actually is. This shows on the move where he strides on and moves straight. On the day I preferred the head and length of loin of first.

1ST    Dover’s Sukeshi Hot Dancer at Keanver 13 mth b/w attractive head with dark eye and good veining, her muzzle flows smoothly into a slightly rounded skull with well set ears. Her front legs are straight but I would prefer a little less slope of pastern and shorter front feet. She has a pleasing topline with a good length of loin.  Well angulated rear with length of thigh and well let down hocks. Movement is steady, extending well, although proud of her tail it remained below the horizontal.

 2ND    Parson’s Go Go Bolshoi Sweetest Taboo (Imp Hun) 9mth w/cream a very pretty young lady with potential. She has a very feminine head with a good dark eye, well set on neck. Correct front angulation with a nice gentle slope of pastern and good feet. She has a gentle arch with a good length of loin and adequately angulated rear.  Movement is light and easy with very good extension and drive. She needs to mature and body up but this should come with time to help fulfil her potential.

My favourite class of the day with 5 lovely puppies, I’m sure each of them will have their day.  

1ST  Odell’s Sukeshi See The Fire w/sable Just 6 months. A beautiful young lady with very feminine, well proportioned head. Veining is just starting to develop. Nice dark eye and well set ears.  Well angulated shoulders, straight legs with well sloped pasterns and correct  cat feed. Nice width in front with good depth for her age, attractive topline with graceful arch and good fallaway. She has a nice bend of stifle, long second thigh and low hocks. As could be expected for one so young her movement coming and going was a little loose but she excelled in profile, striding out with confidence. In the puppy challenge she moved out like she owned the ring BP. 

2ND    Baker & White’s Mischran Belladonna 9mth w/ black. Well proportioned head with the muzzle flowing gracefully into the skull, correctly shaped eye and neat ears. She has a powerful well set neck. I would prefer a little more return of shoulder but she has good slope of pastern and neat well arched cat feet. She has good width at the front and deep chest for her age. Gently rising topline and good length of loin. I would prefer a little more bend of stifle.

Her movement was steady and true on the up and down and in profile showed enough stretch and drive to beat her sister.

1ST    Page’s Cennards Precious Ruby (Imp Nor)  16mt self red. Lovely balanced young girl, with everything in proportion. Her head is enhanced by her dark mask with veining developing nicely and well filled in under the eye. She has a gently domed skull with a prominent occiput. Her neck is arched and flows into her topline with a gentle arch and good fallaway and low set tail. Her front has a good return of shoulder, feet are correct but I would prefer slightly less slope of pasterns but these should tighten with time. Nice width at the front with well sprung chest of acceptable depth. Straight on the move with good reach. Her coat was full and well feathered, on the day she had a shaved patch on her back which I forgave when considered against her overall quality. Best Junior.

 2ND    Szumowska & Szumowski ‘s Wendiga Dzikie Historie (Imp Pol) 10 mth w/gold. A more substantial type to 1 but still retaining femininity.  Her coat is well presented with feathering starting to develop on chest and hindquarters Her head is of an old style and is nicely proportioned and well veined. In profile the line from muzzle to skull doesn’t dip and is well filled in below the eye. She has a strong well arched neck. Front angulation is good with a nice return of shoulder and straight legs. With a nice slope of pasterns and good feet. Well developed depth of chest for her age and good spring of rib.  I would prefer a bit more length of loin which would also soften the rise of her topline. She is well constructed at the rear with a good bend of stifle & length of 2nd thigh and low hocks

2 beautifully presented closely matched bitches who both seemed to want to enjoy themselves rather than show at their best.

1ST    Conroy’s Everwyck Caladria at Enolam  w/red 2yo  her head is set off with a black mask which highlights her dark almond  shaped eyes and the filling below them, her neat ears are set high.  The muscular neck is carried at the correct angle with her topline flowing through her arch to her fallaway and low set tail, although I would like more length of loin.  She is well angulated front and rear. On the move she was more interested in playing with her handler and consequently her front movement was erratic but showed sufficient profile movement.  In the challenge she was far more settled and moved with more accuracy and purpose.                                                                 

 2ND    Baker & White’s Mischran Cleopatra self black 2yo she caught the eye as her well presented black coat gleamed in the sunlight. With what I think of as a classic Manitias type head, it is long and lean with strong powerful jaws, her muzzle flows into her gently domed skull. Her neck is powerful but carried too upright for my personal taste. I would prefer more return of upper arm but her front legs are straight with a nice slope of pastern and neat cat feet. She has a good depth of chest with a nice spring of ribs. Her topline is graceful with a good length of loin Her tail is low set and well feathered  which she proudly showed off on the move. Although straight going away her front movement was a little loose and I would prefer more drive from her well muscled rear quarters.

1ST    Harvey’s Lynx Fairy Tale of Albaneiler (Imp Swe) w/gold 23mth a lovely bitch, well proportioned with plush coat. Her head is powerful but feminine with beautiful veining, almond shaped  eyes and neat well set ears. Strong neck held at the correct angle flowing into a well arched topline. Her shoulder are well angulated with straight front legs and gentle bend of pastern and neat cat feet.  She has well sprung ribs with a good depth of chest and pronounced pro sternum. Good width at the hips with good second thigh and bend of stifle and low set hocks. On the move she was straight on the out and back with drive and extension in profile, carrying her tail low. BCC.

 2ND     Catilina’s Borscana Solglimt at Dofro Imp Swe w/red 2yo. Going over this bitch I was pleasantly surprised by her. She is well balanced and presented in full coat with length under her chest and well developed feathering on fore legs and hindquarters.  Her head is well veined and nicely proportioned with a clean line between muzzle & skull. Nicely arched neck carried well when stood and on the move. Her front is nicely angulated with good width and depth of chest. The topline has the required arch and good fallaway with low set, well feathered tail. Her movement is straight and easy with tail carried low but I would prefer more reach and drive in profile.  RCC

1ST    Dove’s Ch Takatori Madam Butterfly at Saringa JW 4yo One of my favourite bitches currently being shown. She is large and powerful whilst retaining her femininity with a super coat with length and profuse feathering. A strong head in proportion with her body but softened by her veining, attractive dark almond shaped eye and high set ears. Well laid back shoulder with good return of arm leading to well boned, straight forelegs. She has a good forechest with excellent depth, profusely fringed along her tuck up. The topline is nicely arched with a good fallaway with long, low set well covered tail.   The picture is completed with a long thigh, good bend of stifle and low hocks. On the move she moves truly on the up and down with her tail carried low, in profile she seemed a little lethargic. Sadly her movement let her down in the challenge. 

2ND    1867 Lynx Bright Light Rae (Imp Swe) (Mr R A Heap)    2yo w/cream.  Attractive bitch lighter in build than 1. Her head is long and lean with a dark eye well filled in below with prominent veining. Her muzzle flows cleanly to her gently domed skull with nicely set ears. The topline flows nicely into a gentle curve with a long loin and a gentle fall away.  She has good shoulders and front assembly with sufficient width and well sprung ribs and depth of chest. The hind quarters are well muscled with length of thigh and good bend of stifle and good low hocks. The tail is long and well covered carried low on the move. Movement is light and easy with good reach and drive, but let down slightly when coming towards, turning her front left in.                                                                                                                

3RD    Jackson’s Mischran Ciri at Padztar
