To all exhibitors — thank you for allowing me to assess your dogs, and for the sporting way you accepted my decisions.

MINOR PUPPY DOG

1st — No.1862 Webb's Gazstaffs The Gambler — Black Brindle, 7 months — Lovely black brindle. Eyes dark as coal. Nice straight front, slightly turned out at pasterns. Good chest — developing well. Nice level topline, slight slope to croup. Well-bent stifle, good length of tail. One to watch for the future.

2nd — No. 1830 — K. Jones' Royal Bruce 6½ months — A little overwhelmed today, put down to experience. Good head, nice distinct stop, correct bite. Dark eyes, level topline. All the attributes to succeed — I look forward to seeing him in a years time.

PUPPY DOG

1st — 1848 Rhodes - Kentstars Good Luck Charm. Red, white chest & paws, white sock on right. 9 months. Dark eyes, dark mask. Broad shoulders, well-sprung ribs, level topline, slight slope to croup. Would have preferred tidier ear carriage. Still growing, nice presentation, moved well. One to watch maturing.

JUNIOR DOG

1st —1805 Davis K&C. Sharmara Fidelius Charm j.w. Brindle with white, blaze on head — Flashy youngster. Strong head, distinct stop, dark eye, correct bite. Straight front, deep chest, well-sprung ribs, well-bent stifle. Level topline, slight slope towards croup. Oozes confidence today — bright future ahead.

2nd — No. 1838 — McDermott & Arntzen. Proudstaff Day Dreamer. Preferred the head shape of the first over the second. Broad head, distinct stop, dark eye. Straight front, level topline, good spring of ribs, well tucked up into the loin, well-bent stifle. Handled beautifully. Very close — could swap places on another day.

3rd 1831 Jurascheck Riennastaff Juggernaut 

YEARLING DOG

1st — No. 1809 Desmazes. Waywardstaff Volens Nolens — 23 months — Oozes quality. Dark eye, rose ears, good head, distinct stop, correct 2:1 muzzle ratio. Straight front, deep chest, well-sprung ribs, tidy loin. Slight slope to croup, well-bent stifle, well let down at hocks. Handled superbly — not overdone. Excellent dog. Awarded this dog RCC

2nd — No. 1795 — Bassford Lane. Jojalane I Drink Wine Red, 22 months — White chest & two white paws. Not quite as mature as 1st — close decision, could reverse on another day. Strong shoulders, good ribspring into loin, slight slope to croup, well-bent stifle, nicely balanced. Not as powerful as winner, still very nice.

GRADUATE DOG

1st — 1819 Gutierrez Gonzalez. Dusklight Small Town Boy at Maskalon - Red and White Pied — I would have preferred a slightly darker eye, but it is acceptable within the breed standard. Exceptionally fit & well-toned — full credit to owner. Nice shoulders, well-sprung ribs, level topline, slight slope to croup. Good bend of stifle, strong first & second thigh. Beautifully presented, happy in ring. Quality dog.

2nd — No. 1864 -Wells. Wellsstaffs Young Warrior jw — Preferred head shape of 1st over this one. Still good type — true Bull & Terrier balance. Correct head & muzzle ratio, straight front. Slightly smaller than winner. Level topline, slight slope to croup, well-bent stifle. Excellent condition. Unlucky to meet such a strong winner — would place highly on another day.

3rd 1800 Keep it Lowkee at Pindybystaff Blagg

POSTGRADUATE DOG

1st — No. 1811 Emery's. Casails Fight or Fall — Red & White — Nice dark eye — opposite to 2nd. Two extremes, but this one fits the breed standard. Lovely white chest, flashy — four white paws. Strong head, extremely fit — full credit to owner. Excellent muscle tone, good ribspring, well tucked up loin, well-bent stifle, strong first and second thigh development, Level topline slight slope to croup. Overall a quality dog. Handled well. 

2nd — No. 1834 — Martinez- Bullbrothers Time Lord - Fawn Dog with black mask — Very close decision — two extremes. Preferred the first, but this is still a good dog. Strong head, good chest, powerful shoulders, straight front. Level topline, good ribspring, well tucked up loin, well-bent stifle, slight slope to croup. Tried to pull but handled superbly — well managed. Very worthy.

MID-LIMIT DOG

1st — No. 1835 — Martinez- Bullbrothers The Navigator-Martine Dark Brindle, white chest & one white paw — A dog I’ve long admired. Cannot understand why he has not taken top honours before. Lovely dark eye, broad head, correct head & muzzle ratio, distinct stop. Straight front, good shoulders, well-sprung ribs. Neck blending smoothly into withers. Level topline, well tucked up loin, slight slope to croup. Good first & second thigh, well-bent stifle, hocks well let down. Body close-coupled, hindquarters well muscled. Feet medium-sized, strong, well padded. Gait free, powerful and agile — moving with economy of effort. Quality dog all through.

2nd — No. 1849 — Robinson Cox - Hamason Sweet Little Mystry- - Brindle & White— Very close decision. Preferred the head shape of the first over the second — otherwise little between them. Lovely straight front, well balanced. Neck flows smoothly into withers, firm level topline, slight slope to croup. Good spring of ribs, well tucked up loin. Strong first & second thigh, correct bend of stifle. Close-coupled body, well-muscled quarters, hocks well let down. Feet strong and well padded. Moved freely and powerfully. Handled superbly — got the very best out of him. Unlucky to meet such a winner

LIMIT DOG

1st — No. 1840 Moult - Kamaristaff Royal Legend — Black Brindle —This is the dog I wanted to take home. A dog I have admired ringside before. No stranger to the awards — what a quality dog. Beautiful dark eye, brilliant head shape, distinct stop, perfect 2:1 muzzle-to-skull ratio. Straight front, legs straight, slightly turned out at pasterns. Strong neck flowing smoothly into withers. Good level topline, well-sprung ribs, neatly tucked loin. Exceptionally fit — full credit to owner. Slight slope to croup, excellent bend of stifle, strong first & second thigh development. Body close-coupled, hindquarters well muscled, hocks well let down. Feet strong, medium-sized, well padded. Movement free, powerful and agile — moving with economy of effort. A truly fantastic dog. Went on to take the Dog’s Challenge Certificate and Best of Breed — thoroughly deserved.

2nd —1806 A Dawe- Marstaff Butch Cassidy Red dog, white chest — Also dark eye. Straight front, neat pasterns. Very close decision — only separated by condition, the winner being slightly fitter. Level topline, good ribspring, neat loin. Good bend of stifle, strong first & second thigh, slight slope to croup. Well balanced, close-coupled, sound quarters. Unlucky to meet such a strong winner — still a very good dog.

OPEN DOG

1st —1852- Stevens & Raynsford- Raynataff Old Fashioned - Black Brindle, white on chest. Straight front, slight turn at pasterns. Good blend of Bull & Terrier. Correct head & muzzle ratio. Strong neck into withers, powerful shoulders. Level topline, well-sprung ribs, neatly tucked loin. Strong first & second thigh. Handled superbly — excelled on the move.

2nd — No. 1843 A. Norris - Labrastaf magma at Haidastaff — Brindle & White — Very close decision. Preferred movement of the 1st. That was all the difference that separated the two. Level Topline, good Spring of rib, well tucked up in the loins. Slight slope down to the croup. Good bend of stifle, quality dog.

VETERAN DOG

1st — No. 1832 —Manito's - Catstaffs Used To-- 7 years 7 months — Still exceptionally fit — full credit to owner. Nice head shape, correct 2:1 ratio. Strong shoulders, straight front, slight turn at pasterns. Good deep chest, neck flowing smoothly into withers. Level topline, well-sprung ribs, well tucked loin. Good bend of stifle, strong first & second thigh. Showing plenty of muscle — beautifully presented and handled.

2nd — Hopkins- Trufflestaffs Papinaashuash jw. - 11 years Bless his cotton socks — a lovely dog. Father Time has caught up a little, but still showed true spirit of the breed — a pleasure to see. Good head & muzzle ratio, nice dark eyes. Straight front, deep chest, good ribbing. Strong neck into withers, level topline. Still retains strong first & second thigh despite his years. Slight slope to croup. Full of heart — a credit to the breed.

SPECIAL BEGINNERS DOG

1st — No. 1831 Reinstaff Juggernaut- Jurascheck— Black Brindle, 16 months — What a powerful head! Still developing, but what a future he has in store. Good head & muzzle ratio. Strong neck into withers, level topline. Straight front, slight turn at pasterns. Well tucked up loin, nice bend of stifle. Overall — a very promising dog.

2nd — No.1837- McCafferty - Wonderstaffs this boy - — Had seen this dog before — previously nervous, believed not fairly treated by an earlier judge. So pleased to see him place here — full credit to dog and owner. Once settled, I believe he will go on to do very well. Nice dark eye, rose ears, correct bite. Perfect 2:1 head & muzzle ratio. Deep chest, straight front. Strong neck into withers, level topline, good spring of ribs. Well tucked up loin, strong first & second thigh, nice bend of stifle, slight slope to the croup.

VETERAN BITCH

1st — No. 1828 A.Johnson— Ch El Chance Once Upon A Time — Black Brindle — Junior Warrant — A most worthy champion. Strong, typical head, well deserving of her title. Still in excellent condition and wonderfully fit for her age. Strong shoulders, deep chest, level topline, well tucked loin. Remains well muscled and toned throughout — truly impressive.

2nd — No. 1813 -P.Funnell— Powerpack Alora Finvara — Black Brindle — Junior Warrant — A lovely bitch, though not quite as strong all through as the winner. Nice dark eye, neat rose ears, good head shape. Straight front, slight turn at pasterns. Level topline with a gentle slope towards the croup. A sound, honest bitch

MINOR PUPPY BITCH

1st — No. 1796 — Bassford's - Waystaff Let's Play Conquer With Jojolene —Red & White — A puppy who could easily slip through the net — judges must be alert! On close assessment, she is pure quality. Nice dark eye, well-shaped head with correct head & muzzle ratio. Straight front, deep brisket, level topline, slight slope to croup. Only just over six months — all the maturity yet to come. Very promising.

2nd — No. 1855 — Jelly-Thomas & Griffiths - Gazstaff Write Your Name- Black Brindle — Very close decision — unfortunate to meet such a standout winner. Another quality minor puppy. Lovely dark eye, good head shape, neat rose ears. Deep brisket, good shoulders. Strong neck flowing smoothly into withers. Level topline, slight slope to croup. A lovely puppy — sure to place highly before long.

PUPPY BITCH

1st — No. 1826 — Chelsea - Gazstaff Let It Be — Black Brindle — As noted previously, this is a quality puppy bitch. Lovely dark eye, good head shape, neat rose ears. Deep brisket, well-placed shoulders. Strong neck flowing smoothly into withers. Level topline, slight slope to croup. A sound, promising youngster — thoroughly deserving this win.

JUNIOR BITCH

1st — No. 1820 -Hammond's— Hamystaff Love Yourself — Predominantly White, Red Markings — Exceptionally mature for her age. Powerful head with distinct stop, perfect 2:1 head-to-muzzle ratio. Dark eye, straight front. Strong neck into withers, level topline, well-bent stifle, slight slope to croup. Lovely tail carriage — true pump handle. A bitch of great promise.

2nd — No. 1853 —Stillman - Vadeliza Devil's Got Me At Maidendale — Black Brindle — Eyes dark as coal. Not yet as mature as the winner, but assured to develop and give strong competition in time. All the essentials present: strong head, distinct stop, correct scissor bite. Deep brisket, straight front, slight turn at pasterns. Level topline, gentle slope to croup. Quality bitch with bright prospects.

YEARLING BITCH

1st — No. 1850 — Robinson-Cox - Hamasons Hearts On Fire — Predominantly White, Red Markings — Junior Warrant — Simply oozes quality. Beautiful head shape, distinct stop, correct 2:1 ratio. Deep brisket, powerful shoulders, straight front, neat pasterns. Strong neck flowing cleanly into withers, level topline, slight slope to croup. Perfect pump-handle tail. Strong first & second thigh, excellent bend of stifle, hocks well let down. A picture of balanced conformation.

2nd — No. 1846 — Picket - Valglo Kiss Me Quick — Black Brindle — Not as mature as the winner, yet still a lovely bitch. Handled superbly — presented to full advantage. Could easily reverse placings on another day. Striking head shape, distinct stop, correct proportions. Cheek muscles developing well. Deep brisket, strong shoulders, neck flows smoothly into topline. Slight slope to croup, good bend of stifle. One to watch.

3rd 1833 Abyss De La Petite Olympe Marchand

NOVICE BITCH

1st — No. 1844 —Pearson's - Kodaknott Digging Up Dirt — Black & White Pied — Three years old, only shown once before — understandably a little nervous. Credit to the experienced handler who got the very best from her. What a fantastic bitch! Where has she been hiding? Powerful head, correct proportions, well-developed cheek muscles. Deep brisket, strong shoulders, neck flows cleanly into withers. Lovely level topline, well-sprung ribs, neatly tucked loin. Exceptionally fit — musculature clearly defined. Good bend of stifle.

2nd — No. 1853 — Vadeliza Devil's Got Me At Maidendale — See Minor Puppy & Junior Bitch critiques — consistent quality, still maturing.

GRADUATE BITCH

1st — No. 1863 — Wells - Wellstaff Shine A Light — Black Brindle, four white paws, white chest — Junior Warrant — Striking and flashy presentation. Exceptionally dark eye. Excellent head proportions, correct 2:1 ratio. Deep brisket, strong shoulders, straight front, neat pasterns. Level topline, slight slope to croup. Well-bent stifle, hocks well let down. Quality throughout.

2nd — No. 1824 — Hopkins - Trufflestaff Nikandra Itri — Red — Quality bitch through and through. Unlucky to meet such a standout winner — still fully worthy of her place. Dark eye, pleasing head shape, strong underjaw, correct proportions. Straight front, deep chest, broad shoulders. Strong neckline into withers, level topline, well-set pump-handle tail.

POSTGRADUATE BITCH

1st — No. 1801 —Bowin - Esperimo Girl On Fire — Black Brindle — Simply oozes quality. Beautiful head shape, excellent ear carriage, dark eye, powerful underjaw, correct bite. Broad shoulders, deep chest, straight front, neat pasterns. Strong neck flowing smoothly into withers. Level topline, slight slope to croup. Excellent bend of stifle, hocks well let down.

2nd — No. 1836 —J. Mathews - Janjoma Heart's Desire — Unfortunate to encounter such an exceptional winner — still a very quality bitch. Ear carriage not quite as tidy as the winner — the deciding factor. Otherwise excellent: dark eye, strong head, powerful underjaw, correct bite. Deep chest, broad shoulders, straight front, neat pasterns. Strong neck into topline. Well-sprung ribs, exceptionally fit, neatly tucked loin. Musculature clearly defined.

3rd — No. 1797 —Batten - Trodden Summer Breeze

1st — No. 1794 — Banner - Georgiestaff Haveitapet — Dark Brindle, dark eye, white chest flash, white paws — Close-coupled, beautifully balanced. Strong head, deep skull, dark eye, powerful underjaw, correct bite. Deep chest, straight front, broad shoulders. Strong neck flowing cleanly into withers. Level topline, slight slope to croup. Lovely old-fashioned pump-handle tail. Strong first & second thigh. A bitch of harmonious proportions. Well handled

Powerful head, pronounced stop, dark eye, deep brisket, broad chest. Straight front, neat pasterns. Handled superbly, moved with excellence. Strong neck flowing into withers. Level topline, well tucked up, exceptionally fit. Well-developed first and second thigh. Perfect pump-handle tail. Excellent bend of stifle, hocks well let down.

2nd — No. 1807 — Dean - Canadonah Kathy — First time out, three years old, and reportedly recently acquired. To arrive in such excellent condition is remarkable. muzzle slightly short. That said: quality bitch. Strong head, dark eye, neat rose ears. Deep brisket, broad shoulders, straight front. Strong neck into withers. Level topline, well-sprung ribs, neatly tucked loin. Good bend of stifle, hocks well let down. Excellent tail carriage.

3rd — No. 1822 — Jerri Staff Fantastic

OPEN BITCH

1st — No. 1810 — Drahisova Pauderova - If I could Dream Terrystaff-Black Brindle, White Chest — Awarded Bitch CC — Correct head & muzzle ratio. Deep chest, straight front, neat pasterns, tight feet. Well-sprung ribs. Difficult to fault. Strong neck into withers, slight slope to croup. A truly beautiful bitch — worthy of the Challenge Certificate.

2nd — No. 1829 — Johnson - Ellchansa Put a Spell on you - Unfortunate to meet the winner. Good head shape, yet the winner's was preferred. Otherwise: strong head, good cheek development, dark eye, correct 2:1 ratio. Straight front, neat pasterns. Well-sprung ribs, level topline, neatly tucked loin, slight slope to croup. Well-developed musculature — exceptionally fit. Full credit to the owner.
