Thank you very much to the Officers and Committee of the Scottish Kennel Club for the invitation to judge my beloved Dalmatians at your double show. The two shows running simultaneously meant that space was at a premium and ideally I would have liked a bigger ring for the dogs to really show off their paces. The two Dalmatian rings being placed directly next to each other, however, enabled exhibitors to move almost seamlessly between the two, meaning that delays were kept to a minimum. Grateful thanks to my stewards John Gaskell and Sue Steel. Your assistance was not only invaluable to me but also to those exhibitors juggling dogs and classes in both shows. Thank you also to everyone for the lovely entry and for giving me the opportunity to go over your dogs. Coats and temperaments were, almost without exception, excellent and all exhibits were presented in good clean condition. I cannot, unfortunately, report that tailsets have improved since I last judged, but in general fronts and feet were better and I found quality in abundance in a number of classes.
Minor Puppy Dog (6, 1)
1. Sophtspot Xtra Spicy (Mrs J Christie) Attractive, well decorated 7-month old liver of lovely size to age ratio. Still very much a baby but I liked his good front, depth of chest, reach of neck, width of thigh and overall balance. Moved extremely well for one so young.
2. Tamilanda Bright Star for Dalmarno (Mrs M A & Mr N Webster) Outgoing 8-month old black of larger size than 1. Well distributed spotting of excellent dark pigment. Appealing head with lovely dark eye. Well developed hindquarters which he used to advantage on the move.
3. Tamilanda Starlight (Mr K & Mrs D L Whincup)
Puppy Dog (6, 1)
1. Winflash Fifth Avenue over Sassafras (Mrs A Locke-Mcfadzean) Well boned and balanced 10-month old black with beautiful decoration. Masculine head, lovely dark eye and appealing expression. Excellent reach of neck into correctly angulated shoulders. Good depth of chest, nicely arched feet and well developed rear. Well set on tail which did not stop wagging. Movement did not disappoint either, as he covered the ground with ease. BP
2. Jemblewood Northern Stork (Mrs L Reide-West) Taller, slightly longer cast 11-month old liver with attractive head and lovely reach of neck. Scores well in front and depth of chest. Another with good front and rear angulation and tail carriage. Moved steadily.
3. Tamilanda Bright Star for Dalmarno
Junior Dog (6,1)
1. Salvadorada Let’s Get Loud (Ms S & Ms K Grant & Wilkins) Rising 13-month old black. Up to size and well off for bone. Strong masculine head with appealing expression and good dark eye. Striking decoration and deepest of pigment. Good depth of chest and nicely developed width of thigh. Correctly set on and well carried tail. Moved out strongly, showing reach and drive.
2. Mapplewell Rolex with Koroyza (Miss R & Mrs L Croft & Richardson) 15-month old liver. Even though 1 & 2 are very different dogs, this was a close decision. Preferred the head of 1 at this stage of development. Slightly smaller in frame than 1 but pleasing in outline and well balanced. Good decoration and liver colour. Good front and rear angulation and covered the ring steadily, always at one with his handler.
3. Carodal Welcome Way via Waltzaway (Mr K & Ms C Williams & Tanswell)
Post Graduate Dog (6, 1)
1. Joubello Heaven Sent (Mrs M & Mr D Dewcroft) All male head with beautiful dark eye on this upstanding 2-year old black. Nicely arched reachy neck, well developed front, good depth of chest, nice tight feet and correct tailset. Really made the most of himself on the move, which won him this class.
2. Silverspot Voyage of The Sea (Ms M England) Liver, also built on a larger frame, but liked his handsome head and appealing expression, complemented by his well carried and beautifully decorated ears. Excellent length of neck into clean shoulders. Strong rear quarters with well developed thigh and bend of stifle.
3. Schunikka Ifor Dream JW (Miss J M Kaal)
Limit Dog (12, 0)
1. Tamilanda Vintage Gold JW (Mr K & Mrs D L Whincup) Super liver with great ring presence who was a worthy winner of this strong class and was very closely considered for the RDCC. Of correct size, excellent make and shape, and looked a picture standing. Strong masculine head, lovely reach of neck, well laid shoulders, good front and depth of chest. Nicely muscled rear quarters with well defined second thigh. Covered the ground freely when moving, demonstrating reach and drive.
2. Salvadorada Heads Will Roll JW (Ms K Wilkins) Another lovely liver, slightly larger and longer in loin than 1 but very nicely proportioned and balanced. Last judged him as a puppy and he has fulfilled his potential and developed into a handsome dog who fits the standard well. Elegant, expressive head, good reachy neck, well angulated fore and aft, good depth of chest and well set-on tail. Moved well.
3. Dalmark's Jubilations at Nospar JW (Mrs T Stocks)
Open Dog (7, 0)
1. Ch Dotlun Apache Running Bear JW (Mrs D Dinsdale) Loved this beautifully made liver boy. Solidly male throughout in both size and substance yet losing nothing of his elegance and grace. Takes the eye when standing and does not disappoint on being gone over. Most handsome head with lovely dark eye and appealing expression. Excellent lay of shoulder and powerful rear quarters. Plenty of heart room in his very good forechest and depth of brisket. Level topline. Correctly set on and well carried tail. Lovely to watch on the move: covering the ground steadily with very good front reach and powerful rear drive. A pleasure to award him the DCC.
2. Rapanooey Ranunculus (Miss C & Ms M Hobbs & Whiting) Liver male who fits the standard so well and is very soundly made and of excellent size and conformation. Often overlooked, in my opinion, as he is not the showiest of males. He has attractive, well distributed rich liver spotting and a most appealing head with good dark eye and lovely expression. Well arched neck into well laid shoulders with good font and depth of brisket. Strong, well defined hindquarters which he used to advantage on the move. Last judged him in 2023 when I awarded him the RDCC and today I felt he had lost none of his qualities and was happy to once again award him the RDCC.
3. Ch Dvojica Enrique (Mrs L & Mr M Philip & Dunnachie)
Veteran Dog (5, 0)
1. Tolkain Storm King from Phadante JW (Mr K & Ms C Williams & Tanswell) Black dog, just approaching his 8th birthday but very much in his prime. Lovely even and clear spotting on excellent coat in very good condition. Liked his elegant head and good dark eye, overall balance and correct front and rear angulation. Good depth of brisket and correct tailset. Steady rhythmic movement.
2. Tamilanda Air Force One (Mr K & Mrs D L Whincup) Compact black, just turned 7 years of age. Deepest black pigment and well decorated throughout. Just suffering a little in coat condition today. Masculine head, nicely arched neck and very well laid shoulders. Roomy front and well muscled rear. Carrying his tail a little high, but this did not detract from his very sound movement.
3. Ch Mullabuoy Magic Man for Snowspeeder JW (Miss J Sims)
Special Beginners Dog (6, 0)
1. Portunes St Jimmy at Exayeex JW (Mrs C & Mr A Richardson) Well grown liver, just rising 2 years of age. Clear well distributed spotting of rich liver colour on pure white background. Nice round bone throughout. Expressive head and lovely reach of neck. Super tight cat feet. Strong hindquarters. Took time to settle but covered the ground well with good length of stride. BSB and very pleased to see him take SB Group 2.
2. Kevin Dude of The Glen at Bevahalli (Miss N Grant) More mature liver. Another with attractive decoration of the richest colour. Handsome head with appealing expression and nicely arched neck. Not quite the depth of chest of 1. Level topline and well set on and carried tail.
3. Hafwenna The Red Viper at Dintradot (Miss F A Burke)
Good Citizen Dog (2, 0)
1. Carodal Welcome Way via Waltzaway (Mr K & Ms C Williams & Tanswell) Black boy, full of personality, rising 14 months, placed 3rd in junior. Well off for bone and with good depth of chest, nice tight feet and excellent deep black pigment. Handsome head with good dark eye and appealing expression. Moved more steadily here and with good length of stride to take this class.
2. Kevin Dude of The Glen at Bevahalli
Minor Puppy Bitch (2, 0)
1. Rapanooey Portia’s Reverie (Miss C & Ms M Hobbs & Whiting) Densest of pigment on this very happy black 7-month old baby. Really liked her overall shape and balanced outline. Feminine head, good reach of neck, nicely angulated front and rear, correct topline and tailset. Looked a picture standing and moved with great scope for one so young.
2. Salvadorada Mirror Image (Ms K Wilkins) Another nice black puppy, just turning 9 months old. Slightly shorter than 1 but well off for bone with pleasing decoration, good front and rear angulation and correct tailset. Like 1, she moved very well for her age, covering the ground with ease.
Puppy Bitch (5, 0)
1. Jemblewood Stork of Solace (Miss E Gill) Attractive 11-month old liver. Well grown for her age but still feminine and nicely balanced. Pretty head, sweet expression and nicely decorated throughout. Elegant neck, super tight feet, well developed second thigh and good bend of stifle. Her sound movement won her this class.
2. Dalamour’s Irish Rose for Spotamour (Imp Ire) (A Smith) Pretty 10-month old black. Shorter coupled than 1 but I liked her balance and proportions. Feminine head, good eye colour, and attractive decoration. Nicely arched neck into well angulated shoulders. Good width of thigh, bend of stifle and tailset. Just felt that 1 had the edge on movement today.
3. Salvadorada Mirror Image (Ms K Wilkins)

1. Salvadorada Look at Me (Ms K Wilkins) Very feminine 13-month old liver. Compact in size but not lacking in substance and I liked her make and shape. She has lovely bone, clear well defined spotting, a pretty eye catching head and good reach of neck. Scored well in front, depth of chest and fore and aft angulation. Moved very steadily, showing good length of stride.
2. Sophtspot Wild Child (Mrs J Christie) Much taller, rangier 14-month old black girl. Attractively marked with clear well distributed spotting. Lovely dark eye and pleasing expression. Excellent reach of neck, level topline, good width of thigh and bend of stifle. Covered the ground well with her range and length of stride.
3. Salvadorada Lady of The Glen for Bevahalli (Miss N Grant)
Post Graduate Bitch (10, 2)
1. Sophtspot Whirlwind (Mr J & Miss E Scott) Eye catching 13-month old black with real ring presence. Liked her head, lovely dark eye and soft expression. She is well balanced in outline and has a nicely arched neck, good depth of chest and is well angulated fore and aft with ample width of thigh. She has good reach and drive on the move and strode out strongly round the ring.
2. Dallyador White Magnolia JW (Mrs H & Mr R S Tingey) Lovely liver who just did not seem her usual happy self today. Pretty most feminine of heads. Beautifully decorated and pleasing for size and overall conformation. Nice reach of neck, ample front, good depth of chest, correctly angulated shoulders and hindquarters and good tailset. Moved freely and soundly, keeping her excellent topline.
3. Louabidora Show Stopper at Frankish (Mrs P M Ward)
Limit Bitch (13, 1)
1. Salvadorada Honestly Maybe (Ms K Wilkins) Very nicely made quality liver who is balanced throughout and has a very pleasing outline. Well off for bone but still ultra feminine. Attractively decorated with rich liver spotting. Most appealing head into well arched neck. She has a good front, ample depth of chest, well laid shoulders, strong well angulated rear quarters and correct tailset. Covered the ground with ease, moving steadily with good reach and drive.
2. Cubalibre Star Attraction JW (Mrs B Quayle) Stylish liver who fits the standard well and is in top condition. She has substance but that does not detract from her femininity. Attractive spotting, very appealing head with lovely expression into clean well arched neck and good shoulder placement. Lovely tight feet. Roomy front, good depth of chest and strong hindquarters which she used to good effect on the move.
3. Sadiedel's Arab Girl JW (Miss N Pace)
Open Bitch (8, 1)
1. Ch Cubalibre Wishing Star JW (Mrs B Quayle) Heading up this super class is this gorgeous liver who immediately fills the eye when she enters the ring. Exudes quality from her classic head with lovely amber eye and melting expression. Elegant neck, excellent front, the tightest of feet, lovely deep chest, strong rear quarters and correctly set on and carried tail. Balanced in outline and looked a picture standing but, in my opinion, it is her fabulous movement which really sets her apart from the competition. Her free flowing, sound but effortless movement enables her to power round the ring with style, making it impossible to take your eyes off her. A privilege to award her the BCC and BOB.
2. Ch Dvojica Firefly for Finnidal JW (Mrs A & Mr K Hurst) Elegant black who has depth and substance and is a very worthy champion. Loved her elegant head with good dark eye, well carried ears and appealing expression. Super reachy neck into well laid shoulders, roomy front and lovely depth of chest. Nicely muscled hindquarters with good bend of stifle, good tail set and excellent feet. Steady and rhythmic on the move, showing excellent reach and drive. Showed her socks off today and was very happy to award her the RBCC.
3. Ch Dalpetro Dotty JW (Mrs R Lamb)
Veteran Bitch (5, 0)
1. Ch Buffrey Hanky Panky by Dalleaf JW (Mrs S-A & Miss S Neath-Coyne & Baker) Hard to believe this lovely black is almost 10 years old. Has lost none of her quality and depth and is presented in excellent condition. Attractive even spotting, pretty head with soft expression. Good reach of neck, well angulated front and rear. Very good depth of chest, level topline, correct tailset and good feet. Moving freely and smoothly with great length of stride. Outmanoeuvred the veteran dog to take BV and was delighted to see her awarded Veteran Group 2.
