LEONBERGER NWPBS 11/07/2026 Judge: Mrs Michelle Amesbury

I would like to thank the Committee of NW&PBS for inviting me to judge and award my first set of CC’s in Leonbergers at their show. I would like to also thank them for their wonderful hospitality. Also, my thanks go to all of the exhibitors who entered under me, I am truly grateful for the privilege of being able to go over your dogs and thank you also for braving the weather and showing up, although the wind helped quite a bit. I loved my day, I had the opportunity to examine some truly wonderful Leonbergers and I never dreamed that I would end my appointment by crowning not one but two new Champions, this is a day I will never forget, I can’t imagine topping that. Thank you for all the kind words from so many people after the show and I hope you all enjoyed your day as well. Shelley x   

PD (3 Entries) Abs: 1 1st:CHARWIN, Mrs Debbie & DAVIES, Mrs Pippa Jarno Bcoz Its My Time At Debbollinby A very well balanced 8mth red Puppy correctly proportioned head with gentle expression from dark oval eyes. Well set ears and good muzzle with roman nose and strong lower jaw. Super front mechanics straight front legs good strong pasterns with tight and slightly arched feet. Moderate length of neck arching into withers. This super pup has well laid shoulders and close fitting elbows, lovely depth of chest and strong top line which he held beautifully on the move. Gently sloping croup with correct tailset, well angulated hindquarters. Movement was excellent for a pup of this age and shows the promise of things to come. Presented in superb condition. BP. Very pleased to see this lad shortlisted in the Group later in the day still showing is socks off. 2nd:SHILLABEER, Mr & Mrs A Sound Of Silence Ginger Heaven Another lovely puppy, 11 mth lad at his first show and did very well. A beautiful head of good proportions which I preferred over my winner with lovely dark mask super expression from dark oval eyes, good muzzle and strong jaw and good bite, correct earset. Again, a good length of neck into withers with good shoulder angulation. Well boned front legs but a little bit 10 to 2 at the moment which I am sure will straighten as he matures. Good top line in the making but this lad was a little bum high today gently sloping croup and correct tailset. Excellent rear angulation. His movement was a little erratic which is understandable at his first show with so much going on however he paddled a little bit on the front and was a little close behind when going away, all things that will improve as he matures, a very promising pup and I look forward to seeing him as he grows.JD (1 Entries) Abs: 1 

YD (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st:ARTHUR, Miss Karen & OLIVER, Mr Lee Lunahai Straight No Chaser 21 mth red male with correctly proportioned head although I would like a little bit more breadth on the skull which should come as he matures. A correct earset and lovely expression from dark oval eyes. Front feet pointing a little 10 to 2 today but this should improve again as he matures. Slightly arching neck and good shoulder angulation, tight close fitting elbows with a lovely deep chest. A level top line and broad loin into moderately sloping croup with good tail set. Correct upper hind angulation with good muscle development for his age although I would like to see some definition of angle between the lower thigh and rear pastern. Moved a little close when going away but will improve with age, movement in profile was very good. A lot to like about this lad. PGD (2 Entries) Abs: 0 1st:ROE, Miss Pat Anne Amazing Lord Of The Rings Ginger Heaven At Parowhite (imp pol) 2 year old male red with darker overlay on coat. So much to like about this lovely lad. A very well proportioned head, good mask and beautiful kind dark, oval eye with the correct earset and dentition a very handsome boy. Moderate slightly arched neck flowing into his withers and beautifully laid shoulders well angulated. Straight and well boned front legs with strong pasterns and nice tight slightly arched feet, strong elbows oval ribs with deep chest, good top line which he maintained beautifully on the move good length of loin and a gently sloping croup with good tail set and good rear angulation. Moved well but slightly paddling at the front but very nice overall picture 2nd: HARWOOD, Miss C Lendevers Spring Tide 3-year-old red male slightly taller than first but beautifully proportioned very nice head again with correct proportions, kind eye giving that soppy gentle expression we all love. Correct earset and good muzzle slightly tapering with Roman nose. Moderate neck and good shoulders and angulation, straight front legs with good bone although was slightly 10 to 2 at the front with slightly sloping pasterns. Very good depth of chest and strong level topline Correct upper hind quarter angulation but would like to see definition of angle between lower thigh and rear pastern. Movement was good in profile but a little close behind when moving away, a super happy lad on the move who never stopped watching his handler.LD (5 Entries) Abs: 0 1st:SIMMONDS, Mr Andrew & SIMMONDS, Mrs Pauline Skjaergaardens Dance Monkey Dance Jw 2 yr old red male who just oozes quality, so much to like about this lad I am struggling to keep this critique short! I have liked this lad from ringside but what a pleasure to be able to go over him. The whole picture is one of balance, from his correctly proportioned head with dark mask very kind almond eyes, moderate stop and slightly tapering muzzle with roman nose to the slightly arched neck into withers flowing into a strong level topline and onto a gently sloping croup and correct tailset. front legs straight with good bone and strong pasterns finishing off with tight arched feet. Excellent rear angulation all the way to his toes. When he moved he maintained that beautiful profile whilst powering round the ring, probably one of the best in the Ring for rear end movement today. I was delighted to award him the CC and honoured to give him his crown. 2nd:BURRELL, Miss C & BURRELL, Mrs Ann Kalizmar The Hitch Hiker I was splitting hairs between these two. Another lovely 2yr old male. Another I have liked from the ringside and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to go over him. A beautiful head correctly proportioned with a melting expression from those almond eyes. Good strong jaws and slightly tapering muzzle with that roman nose and correct bite, correct ear position sets off this handsome lad. Moderate slightly arched neck blends into his withers where is front assembly is well angulated with good bone and strong, straight legs good pasterns and tight arched feet. A good strong topline and gently sloping croup into correct tailset. This lad carries on his quality with his hindquarters with correct angulation including his lower thigh to rear pastern and strong hocks which he used to show ground covering, even movement while maintaining that super profile. 3rd:SHARKEY, Mrs Heather Jantonely Zingalong Baloo Res:JACKSON, Miss Holly-mae Lunahai Like A Hurricane For Reveraki VHC:IVESON, Mrs Christina & IVESON, Mr David Sulandi Fall For You At Westshaw (IKC) OD (4 Entries) Abs: 2 1st:IVESON, Mrs Christina & IVESON, Mr David Onaway Dark Trumperter At Westshaw A five-year-old male shown today in excellent condition and good coat. I have judged this dog before at Open level and awarded him RBOB and liked him very much then. He has not dissappointed today, still a stunner. A very well proportioned head totally in balance with the rest of his body, with beautiful oval dark eyes giving that gentle kind expression, a dark muzzle gently tapering and that super roman nose. His pendant ears set high and feathered finish off the handsome face. Excellent arched neck flowing to the withers, his shoulders have a good length of upper arm which are well muscled and sloping, front legs well boned and straight front legs and strong pasterns nice tight round arched feet, a very good depth of chest a level top line good broad loin and sloping croup with right tailset. Hindquarters beautifully angulated again all the way to his feet. Moved very well with a ground covering action whilst maintaining his topline although tail was a little happy. Made it very hard for me to decide top honors today with the boys, RCC. 2nd:SEVASTOPULO, Mrs Sarah A Amber Vitkennel Crimson King Oldholbans (imp) also five-year-old male again another stunning dog who felt the heat a bit today and wanted to be a clown which did not detract one bit from the quality of this boy. A very kind expression on a beautiful shaped head of correct proportions, strong jaw and gently tapering muzzle with his roman nose, good dentition and moderate cheeks with ears set high framing the whole picture. This boy has a slightly arched strong neck into withers with well angled fore quarters into well boned and straight front legs with strong pasterns and rounded tight and arched feet. From the withers the strong and level topline flows into a gently sloping croup with good tailset, oval ribs give way to a lovely depth of chest, loins broad and strong. The rear engine is correctly angulated with strong hocks which were well positioned. Moved a little close behind when going away could be the heat but not with his usual runner today a lovely Dog.VD NO ENTRIES SBD/B (3 Entries) Abs: 1 1st:WESCOMB, Mrs Janet & WESCOMB, Mr David Lunahai Dancing In The Dark At Fieldshouse Exquisite little bitch with a very beautiful face. Head correctly proportioned with a lovely mask and the kindest, softest expression from her dark oval eyes, very good earset lovely length of neck well laid shoulders with front legs very straight from front with good distance between them, strong pasterns with rounded slightly arched feet and strong elbows. top line is level and back strong with good depth of chest, good length of loin and gently sloping croup to a well set tail, very good angulation on the rear all the way down to the pastern. Stood with a leg at each corner with hind legs straight when viewed from the rear. On the move she covered the ground with even powerful strides and tracked up beautifully in profile whilst not being too close behind when moving away and all the time held her top line. She was in full coat and immaculately presented. I wonder if her owner knows just how special this lass is, she was under consideration for the RCC today and it was a hair splitting decision. This girl is good enough to go all the way and I hope to see her with big wins very soon. A very, very sweet little bitch with a gorgeous melting expression form a well proportioned head and beautiful dark mask lovely straight front with good pasterns for one so young Good angulation on her front moderate length of neck with a very lovely top line and deep chest, very well angulated hind quarters right down to her 2nd thigh and pastern. Moved absolutely beautifully very fluid for one so young at her first show. I look forward to watching her grow. 2nd:CHARWIN, Mrs Debbie & DAVIES, Mrs Pippa Jarno Bcoz Lions Roar For Debbollinby Another really lovely bitch of eight mths and sister to the puppy dog winner. Correctly proportioned head and in balance with the whole body, a lovely mask with dark oval eye and a beautiful soft expression, ears set high and well feathered framing her face. Straight, well boned front legs with strong pasterns. Good angulation on her front with a level top line and strong loin, good croup and tail set with correct angulation on the hind quarters. Moved really well and kept her topline JB NO ENTRIES YB (3 Entries) Abs: 1 1st:WESCOMB, Mrs Janet & WESCOMB, Mr David Lunahai Dancing In The Dark At Fieldshouse see SB 2nd:JEPHCOTT, Ms Madeleine Ann Lunahai Cry Me A River Litter sister to first place, again very pretty little lass with the same good proportions, a good length of neck and a level topline with gently sloping croup and good tailset, very good back engine yet again and depth of chest excellent and again a good strong loin. Not quite the coat as her sister today, moved extremely well but her sister just had the edge today. PGB (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st:WATSON, Mrs S L Lunahai Little Girl Blue 20 months bitch what an absolute superstar well balanced outline exquisite head and expression beautifully proportioned head with a dark mask and melting expression from dark oval eyes. A very good front with lovely straight legs when viewed from the front and close fitting elbows. Round slightly arched tight feet finish off the front engine. Moderate length of neck into well laid shoulders with good angulation. A strong level top line with broad loin gently flowing into moderately sloping croup and good depth of chest. Back engine assembly has the correct angulation on the upper thigh. When she moved it was an absolute dream watching her going away she was the first one I’ve seen today who moved correctly from the back. This is another girl who definitely deserves her crown one day. LB (3 Entries) Abs: 0 1st:HEROD, Miss Jennifer Kenna Leosrus Powers That Be Exquisite bitch who caught my eye when she came into the ring. Presented in immaculate coat and condition, the muscle tone on this girl was something else and her owner should be very proud. Presenting a balanced outline and a pleasure to go over. Such a pretty, well proportioned head with well set ears framing her face, a dark muzzle with slight roman nose and strong jaw and correct dentition, dark pigmentation and those lovely oval eyes giving that kind expression. An elegant moderately arched neck flowing to the withers, shoulders and upper arm of good length showing some of the muscle condition evident all over this girl. Super straight top line which she maintained on the move. Strong loins and gently sloping croup to tail. Straight front legs with good bone and strong pasterns and tight round, slightly arched feet. Her back engine assembly is absolutely bang on. Correct angulation from the top to the bottom of her legs. This girl is so well made it shows in her movement. She owned the ring covering the ground with powerful even strides, yet it looked effortless. I had great pleasure in awarding this girl the CC and was even more thrilled when I found out that I had also given this lovely girl her crown. BOB 2nd:PEACHEY, Miss Leah & PEACHEY, Mrs J D Navaeh Mishka Chosen Cc At Taffnia (imp Est) Another very pretty bitch of correct proportions on the head with a lovely dark mask and very dark almond eyes giving a beautiful soft expression. Good ear set with super feathering, moderate neck which is slightly arched and a good deep chest, a little long in the loin and would like a little more slope to the croup but a lovely girl. Very good and correct angulation in front and hindquarters with good bone and straight front legs but a little down on her pasterns and stood 10 to 2 at the front today which was a shame. In playful mood today when it came to moving which let her down a bit today although her cheeky nature made me smile. 3rd:SPRINGEL, Ms Sharon Lionscourt Orenda. OB (3 Entries) Abs: 2 1st:WEAVER, Mrs Susan Kaye & WEAVER, Mr Michael Ch Simden Maida Girl Like You: This 2 year-old bitch stood alone today. A super quality girl with a lovely balanced outline and shown in excellent condition. A well proportioned head with a very gentle expression and lovely dark mask. A Good muzzle with dark pigmentation and slight roman nose and super ear set completes this gorgeous head. Well boned front legs with strong pasterns and super tight feet, faultless angulation in the shoulders with a well arched neck and level topline into gently sloping croup and correct tail set. With close fitting elbows and super deep chest to strong loins finishing off with well angulated hind quarters from the hip to her toes. Again, with this girl, her construction showed on the move where she covered the ground with a strong even gait making it all look effortless. The quality of my two big winners from the bitches had me splitting hairs as they are both superstars RCC. VB (1 Entries) Abs: 0 1st:THOMAS, Miss G Inculpata Leo Vom Zarendorf (imp Rus) 7-year-old bitch beautiful coat and super condition, A real beauty with a super outline. A beautiful head of great proportions a strong head but feminine with a medium stop a dark mask and muzzle with the roman nose. Good earset and a lovely gentle eye. Good straight front legs with plenty of bone and nice tight arched feet good elbows and good length of neck. Correct angulation in the shoulders a good topline and deep chest with sloping croup superb rear angulation all through.
