Spaniel (American Cocker)

My first time judging this super breed at this level and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My thanks to NGA for the appointment, to my stewards Muriel & June for keeping things flowing and to the exhibitors for the quality entry by which I was humbled. I had to make some hair splitting decisions, especially at the top and was delighted with my CC & RCC winners. I understand that two new Show Champions were made up on the day, congratulations!

1ST 1313 - Letjashaja Ptitsa Saint Pierre at Almondsbury (Imp Rus) (Miss B Dummett)

This handsome, well balanced tri dog is in super form. His defined head is masculine yet not overdone, his expression is alert and soft. He is well developed in front with good depth and big ribs, has substance all through to strong quarters and plenty of width over the rear. He moved sound with purpose. BVIB

2ND 1306 - Mischtikals Return O'the Mac at Dyrin (Mr C Birch)

This black boy has lots to like; he has a well balanced head with good eye shape and colour. He is strong in front construction with plenty of depth, big ribs extending to short loin. Not so positive on the move as 1.

3RD 1315 - Afterglow Bang Tidy (Mrs B Edwards)

400. Spaniel (American Cocker) - Minor Puppy Dog

A very mixed class, all at different stages of development.

1ST 1322 - Mycalleys Crunchi (Mrs B Morris)

This 8 month old buff boy is all there already which won him the class on the day. He has a appealing masculine head with lovely eye shape and colour with strong pigmentation. His front is well developed, well off for bone and substance. He can move when he gets into his stride but he tended to pace at times. He has good width on the move holding a good shape in profile and a firm top line. I hope he doesn’t go over.

2ND 1303 - Alibama That's My Guy (Miss H & Mr D K Bedding & Jennings)

This young buff boy is at the other end of the scale, is very raw at just 6 months and has so much to do as you would expect, however shows lots of promise. He has good breed type and balance with a very attractive head piece. His body is adequate and has depth appropriate for his age. He moves sound with style holding a good top line. I will watch his development with interest.

1ST 1307 - Zhemchuzhnaya Rossip Shape of My Heart at Dyrin (Imp Rus) (Mr C Birch)

A mature buff boy with appealing head of good shape and balance, he has correct eye shape and colour. He is well made in front with plenty of depth to fore chest and well sprung in the ribs to short loin. He lacks some muscle tone in his hindquarters which affected his hind action, not as accurate as I would have wished for.

406. Spaniel (American Cocker) - Limit Dog

1ST 1319 - Alibama That’s My Boy JW (Mr D K & Miss H Jennings & Bedding)

This super quality buff boy stood away in the class, he has a very attractive balanced head, rich pigmentation and a super expression. He is strong in front with good depth and excels in lay back of shoulder with matching length of upper arm, well sprung ribs to short loin. He moves sound, with free and flowing action covering the ground with ease.

2ND 1316 - Moonmist I Spy Wilbur (Mrs B Edwards)

This blk & tan has an appealing balanced head with dark eye of good shape. He is not as compact as 1 but has good depth and a well made front assembly. He moves sound but lost his shape in profile today.

3RD 1305 - Finndain Frappe for Dyrin (Mr C Birch)

1ST 1328 - Nld/bel/ger Ch Colorfull’s Easter Monday W21/24 (Mrs Bea Van Zanten-Dorland)

This striking mature black boy ticked all my boxes; his well developed masculine head is so defined with lovely balance and plush fore face with a cracking expression. His strong slightly arched neck flows to super shoulder placement and he excels in depth of fore chest and upper arm. He has big ribs, short loin and strong well muscled quarters. He is sound on the move with good reach and drive and his top line is so firm. Put down to the minute I could not deny him the CC today.

2ND 1321 - Sh Ch Nujax Happy Halloween (Mrs A & Mrs L Manser & Nelson)

Another cracking quality boy with great breed type and balance, his head has super balance with defined stop and soft expression. He is beautifully made all through but today he had to give way to maturity. There is so much more to come from this one. Res CC

3RD 1314 - Nova Story Boogie Woogie (Imp Mne) JW (Ms B & Mrs T Dummett & Vikhrova)

1ST 1318 - Malricey Tina Burner (Mr R & Mr S & Mr S Grindey & Dyer & Whincup)

This black girl appealed for her size, breed type and balance, she has a feminine head with appealing expression. She has a good front with well laid shoulders and good length of upper arm, she has good depth for her age and is well sprung in rib. Her quarters are strong with good width over the rear. Moves sound.

1ST 1309 - Americlass Americano with Thistlefinch (Mrs G & Miss C Clay & Beet)

This very pretty blk & tan has a feminine head with plush fore face. She has a strong front, well developed in rib and thick, muscled quarters. She moves sound holding a firm top line but I would like a little more length of leg.

412. Spaniel (American Cocker) - Junior Bitch

1ST 1320 - Afterglow Sultana (Mr J & Ms S Lynn & Crummey)

This very striking young blk is typical of what you would expect from her breeding. She has a very clean outline on the stack and does not disappoint on handling. Her head is exquisite of correct proportions with defined stop and soft expression, her front assembly is strong with plenty of depth for age. Her ribs are well sprung extending to short loin and strong quarters with good width over the rear. She is sound on the move covering the ground with ease and style. In full coat sympathetically presented. Res CC

2ND 1310 - Americlass Macchiato with Almondsbury (Mrs G & Miss B Clay & Dummett)

This blk & tan quality puppy appealed greatly, I liked her size and leg to length ratio. She has a balanced head with defined stop and super expression, she is well made in front with good depth, moves sound holding a firm top line. BPIB

1ST 1324 - Mycalleys Jasmine (Mrs B & Mrs R Morris & Jefferson)

A short and cobby blk & tan with such an appealing head and expression. She is strong in front with plenty of depth, big ribs, short loin and strong well angulated quarters. I liked her width over the rear, she moves sound. I would like to see her in better coat condition; her top coat doesn’t look the easiest.

2ND 1308 - Jaclee High Society Americlass (Mrs G Clay)

Another appealing blk & tan of good breed type and balance, yet not so developed in rib and slightly longer cast than 1.

416. Spaniel (American Cocker) - Limit Bitch

1ST 1317 - Dreamcast Elysium at Carolco (Mrs C Fryer)

I have judged this parti girl as a puppy and did her well. She has a very pretty feminine head with appealing expression, a good lay back of shoulder. She is short coupled with strong quarters. She moves sound holding a firm top line. I would have hoped to see more development in rib and infill.

417. Spaniel (American Cocker) - Open Bitch

1ST 1326 - Nasailleen Flicda Bird (Mrs L & Mrs L Moss & Nelson)

This exciting young girl captured my attention as she entered the ring for her breed type and balance. Her head is so pretty of correct proportions with beautiful chiselling and plush muzzle, her eyes like deep bottomless pools. On handling I found my hands just flowing over her with one part seamlessly running into the next. She has a beautifully made front assembly, well sprung ribs extending well back to short loin. Her quarters are strong with good width over the rear. She simply took my breath away on the move with great reach and drive holding a firm topline in profile. I was delighted to award her the CC & BOB and to hear she went on to BIS4 was the icing on the cake.

2ND 1311 - Ir Sh Ch Cherdon Classic (Miss C Donaldson)

Another quality exhibit, albeit a size larger and not so compact as 1, yet maintaining femininity and all in proportion. She has a super front with plenty of depth, correct in body to strong quarters. She moves sound.

3RD 1325 - Mycalleys Koko JW ShCEx OSW (Mrs B & Mrs R Morris & Jefferson)
