Manchester Dog Show Society

Breed: Toy Group

Thank you to the officers and committee of Manchester Championship Show for inviting me to Judge my 2nd Toy Group. I found some wonderful dogs and to my shock shortlined 11 I wanted to move again. But my final 4 I could have quite easily taken home, all were exceptional well balanced dogs on the move.

Toy Group 1 Ch Jameneli Back To Black - Louwchen(Little Lion Dog) - Mrs J Graham, I first fell in love with this breed back in the early 1990’s and this young boy took me back to then. He looked at me with large dark round eyes that showed utmost intelligence, wonderful pigmentation. Good broad head so well balanced, excellent reach of neck leading into a strong body standing 4 square, exceptionally well muscled and then when this boy moved the most excellent drive propelling him forward to a wonderful reach.

Toy Group 2 Ch Sugarlane Gibbonback - Affenpinscher - Mr A Stewart and Mrs M Boulcott. This young dog just oozed breed type, His very cheeky monkey-like expression greeted me as I walked towards him, dark round sparkling eyes full of mischief twinkled at me. Excellent head shape and size, good neck leading into well laid shoulders, correct angles front and rear that produced that perfect strutting gait. Outstanding coat in excellent condition completing a perfect picture of breed type.

Toy Group 3 Ch Pamplona Rumour Has It - Mr R Smith and Mr M Coad - Bichon Frise. Another young dog that was full of confidence and style. Excellent breed type, a small, sturdy white dog. As I went in closer his large round black eyes just drew you in. They were so correctly placed and had outstanding pigmentation that showed out against the white. Wonderful head shape with a slightly rounded skull. Good neck leading into an exceptionally well constructed body well muscled. A well balanced and effortless gait, very true in both directions.

Toy Group 4 Ch Lovetrac Banksy - Mr P Lovel - Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - I grew up with this breed over 50 years ago and this young Blenheim dog took me back to then. He showed excellent breed type, the most gentle soft expression, large dark eyes that just drag you in, excellent head shape well cushioned, correctly set ears framing his head, good reach of neck leading into well laid shoulders, level top line with his tail an extension of this, good spring of rib. Oozed the true happy guy temperament of this breed and this showed in his excellent gait.
