THE NEWFOUNDLAND CLUB CH SH 17th OCT 2026
Huge thanks to the committee for this appointment a very long awaited dream come true for me. Your kind hospitality was much appreciated.
In general I do think the overall quality has dropped. Take a look at what you are entering, does it have exceptional qualities depicted in the breed standard? I had a couple of untidy mouths. A word in the standard which is repeated many times – muscular, sadly so many exhibits are lacking, this is something you can easily rectify. Please watch the tails – far too many are way above the horizontal which spoils the whole outline. Thank you for such a strong numerical entry & your good sportsmanship.
Baby Puppy D/B 2
1st Duffs Titanbears Renegade, litter mates with lots to like, this 18 week girl is more together than her brother & has more positive rear movement going away, she was so well behaved for her age, a promising pup. BBPIS 2nd Harris & Jones Titanbears Outlaw, handler & pup at their first show, I hope they enjoyed the experience as this baby shows promise.
DOGS
MPD 9,4abs
1st Canning & Rennison Oukaya Forever Big Dipper(imp FRA) W/B compact body & growing fairly evenly at 8mnths, good head qualities, retaining puppy coat so looks a little stuffy in neck, he has a decent front, his black markings make him look short of leg which he isn’t. excellent depth & width of body & good ribbing would not want him with any more weight. He has adequate bend of stifle excellent straight hock to floor when viewed from any angle. Positive mover BPD 2nd Campbell & Pllu Disoranto Next To Me (imp Pol) just 6 months & enjoying himself! Much to like, well developed head, excels in topline. Adequate rear angulation ( I found many exhibits over angulated behind) strong straight rear, moved positively when settled. Look forward to seeing him at maturity. 3rd Cummings Shadowrise Break The Ice, approaching 7mnths & shows promise, would like more depth of muzzle at tip, love his eye shape & colour for me some are almost black & too round! Where has our almond shape gone? this totally spoils the expression, he has well boned limbs & moved with drive at one with his handler.
PD 1,1abs.
VD 2. 2 lovely sound veterans splitting hairs between them.
1st Mycocks Zentaur Hot Diggity, Quality 8 yr old whos profile is spot for balance, masculine but not overdone, his head, eye & muzzle is textbook for me, enough bone all through standing on tight feet, equal angulation both ends moved with reach & drive. Lovely dog that I see I have given a RCC to last time I judged, had to give way to youth today, BVD & just pipped by his sister for BVIS. 2nd Crosier Nurburgnewf Cayman ShCExVW super head on this 8yr old who has the desired length of neck leading to a decent shoulder, he has great bone with the best of large round feet. He moved out well with correct tail carriage although a little soft in topline today.
JD 3,1. Litter mates
1st Duffs Titanbears Primatus, lovely balanced dog, He has slightly darker eye than his brother but I actually prefer expression & muzzle on him. This lad is very well bodied, super straight well boned limbs, best tight feet, straight coat of correct texture which scored over his brother. His tail reaches to hock. Good side profile moving & held a strong topline. 2nd McLauchlan Titanbears Burning Love. I am sure these 2 will change places frequently, for me today his topline & more tuck up was the decider. Well handled & covered the ground with ease.
YD 2,1
1st McLauchlan Titanbears Burning love (2nd JD)
PGD 3.
1st Rayboulds Bearhugs Carnegie, Large upstanding 2 ½ yr old, nothing flashy or overdone, sound in limb. Appealing head with correct almond shaped small dark eye, ears close fitting although slightly large ( as have most exhibits), deep square muzzle with great large open nostrils. Nice flow of neck to topline. Equal angulation front & back, would like more breadth of back but he is still young. Good width behind standing but moved a tad close, side profile held a strong topline. All 3 in this class have adequate bone. 2nd McLauchlan Titanbears Burning Love see 2nd JD. 3rd Moakes Mileoak Huxley W/B with minimal ticking & a dense coarse textured jacket, not the head of 1&2 & a little loose in bottom eye lid, he has a decent shoulder placement with a deep chest & desired width all through. His positive rear movement was the best in the class.
MLD 3.
1st Moore & James Starnewf Mr Dark Sky JW He’s not yet 2 ½ so has so much more to give, he was expertly handled, such a great shape nothing exaggerated. I could actually feel muscle on him in the correct places! His ear size & placement is textbook, good breadth of skull he may not have dark enough eyes for some but they are the correct shape with good rims, he is clean in face/muzzle although he does have very slightly loose flews.. he has great head carriage from correct length of neck ( no dewlap) which leads to well laid shoulders, his bone structure is strong with the tightest feet & strong pasterns. His leg length is spot on. He has a firm level topline & moves like a dream really covers the ground with ease as he should from his well muscled thighs. Pleased to award him RCC, Best Black in show 2nd Farrar Disoranto Cool hand Luke at Darkpeak Substantial pleasing balanced shape of both head & body. What stood out was his excellent length of upperarm (lacking in so many) I like this lads head although wish he didn’t have as much pink pigmented flews. The expression from his small almond dark eyes melts you (well it did me!) He is broad backed but I would like more width of chest. Immaculately presented, carried himself with purpose. 3rd Watsons Newfangled Don’t you dare at Cacodom, close call with 2nd as this lad has more width to chest but lost to eyes not quite as well fitting. He has a pleasing shape with no exaggeration. All 3 dogs were very well presented in coat/body condition & handling. A joy to see & touch!
LD 6,1
1st Owles & Bristows Zentaur Fizzical Therapy on entering the ring he has that “look at me” about him, immaculately turned out & handled. At 5 yr old he’s fully mature & knows his job. Small for me but I could not deny him the class. His balance, bone & compact body pleased my eye. He stands 4 square on tight round feet, with good width all through, decent ribbing & a strong loin with the best of underline his flowing movement with correct tail carriage gave him the class. 2nd McPhail Anchorbrook Aye Aye Captain, good size very masculine, strong boned with all important large feet to support his frame. Strong in head free from any wrinkles, would prefer a tighter eye & flews. Love his depth & width all through & correct equal leg length to wither. Great broad croup & base of tail which is of desired length to hock joint, tad slacker in front pasterns than 1. Powerful mover. 3rd Austin Davistell Springsteen of Elbear, lovely shaped 3 ½ yr old, stacked I thought he was to be my winner but he wasn’t as positive coming back to me which lost him his placings today, He has a pleasing head is well put together with a coarse double coat (don’t see many of them). With well sprung ribs a strong loin & a broad slightly sloping croup leading to a thickish tail of correct length. He has an adequately angulated rear which gave him drive & held a strong topline in side profile. 4th Blackburn Disoranto A Perfect Match JW (imp Pol) VHC Canning, Canning & Rennison Oukaya Forever Ursa Minor (imp Fra)
OD 6,1. Strong class
1st Hunt Zentaur Jam Master Joy, well it was a joy to judge him this 6yr brown holds a balanced outline, you do have to get hands on to appreciate his leg length because he does look short as he has such a deep body. His eye colour compliments his coat his head qualities are textbook. My hands flowed, nothing exaggerated good width & depth all through as you would hope from a mature dog. I realise I judged him 3 years ago & loved him then. For top honours he flew his tail which spoilt his outline as he pushed them hard. 2nd Duff Titanbears Excommunicado JW IR JCH ShCEx OSW Well this boy for me is a fine example of the breed having good size too, what you see is what you get nothing hidden under a sculptured coat. He is so sound in limb, moved with purpose, has the best croups & set of tail. Just wish he had a deeper flank. Presented in tiptop condition, still young with more to come. 3rd Brown Valhalabears Jibber Jabber. Not the height of the first 2 but a well balanced compact 4 yr old with such an appealing head of good breadth with developed occiput. Super front with tidy elbows. He excels in straight parallel limbs front & back, straight coat of coarse texture. Moved with reach but slightly closer behind. 4th Drakefords Nandobears Yabba Dabba Doo at Mileoak (imp Deu) JW. VHC Plants Green Pearl Versailles (imp Fra)
CHD,1.
1st Chapmans Ch Nandobears You’ll never walk alone (imp Deu). Worthy Champion my notes say – A quality beautiful type! Love his head although his ears are rather large & lower set. That aside he is a quality specimen, with so many correct breed specifics, would I like a little more height yes I would but I would in most! He has straight footfall although tad close.
SOBlackD 4,2. 1W/D
1st Hosie LUX CH King of Helluland Jungle Book at Shadowrise JW (imp SVK) large upstanding impressive looking dog with plenty of bone & substance. Rather too deep in muzzle/lip for me. Super eye shape & colour, I would prefer tighter elbows He has decent width of back with a slightly sloping croup giving correct tail set. Lovely short rear hock - joint to floor. Effortless mover.
SOBrownD 2.
1st Moir Newgraden To The Moon an Back JW. The star of the day, what a noble looking firm, fit dog & still only 2 ½ . The general appearance paragraph of the standard was written for this dog in my opinion. Need I say more! Oh yes, movement – free easy a strong driving rear from his powerful quarters complimented by a perfect tail carriage completed the package for me to award him CC, BIS, Best Brown in Show, I was told after this made him up – what a fantastic day many congratulations. 2nd Godden Ch Zentaur Bout That Jam, great quality in the Browns! Compact bodied, another super dog from this kennel which is out of my BVIS winner. Correct fitting eyelids his eye lighter than winner but his overall shading is lighter so totally acceptable. Clean head of correct proportions, scores in body depth actually being body & not coat, balanced angles both ends producing exact footfall. Plenty of bone & a long thick tail. Thankfully I only had a couple of shorter tails today.
SO LandseerD 2.
1st Springthorpe & Delacroix Ch Oukaya Forever Stormtrooper (imp Fra). Love this W/B, I gave him the CC last time I judged, he just lacked that spark on the move today for top honours but this lads construction is for me first class, few exhibits are as straight limbed, have a strong topline & low tail carriage like this boy. He has excellent markings with minimal ticking & is presented in fit muscular condition. No hesitation in awarding him Best W/B in Show. 2nd Moakes Mileoak Huxley (3rd PGD)
BITCHES
MPB, 2,1.
1st Hosie Shadowrise Take by Storm, well grown for nearly 7 mnths. Lovely dark almond shaped eyes, her head is developing nicely. Extremely well boned with super large feet. She is deep bodied & growing evenly, super bend of stifle, energetic tidy mover she’s a very promising pup, my BPIS.

1st Hosie Shadowrise Take by Storm, 1st MPB
VB 5,3. 1w/d.
1st Coldwell Ch/JSY CH Zentaur This Is Jam Hot (Ai) JW ShCEx OSW I have judged her before, today she really was “hot”. She has the most beautiful expressive eyes. I would prefer higher ear set. She is expertly handled & presented, her coat has minimal wave & correctly crisp to touch. Pleases the eye with her compact body, she comes alive on the move, effortless! Best Veteran in Show.

1st Chapple’s Vodahond Violet for Peakcharm Feminine girl only just out of puppy, stood alone a very pleasing girl with lots to like. Not flashy just an honest bitch who I hope won’t be overlooked. Really like her head qualities. Her outline is balanced with a level underline. She has equal angulation both ends, she’s well off for bone with plenty of body. Strong topline retained on the move, sound mover from any angle.
PGB,3.
1st Turnbulls Valhalabears Just One Kiss for me this girl had the best eyes in this class for shape/ tightness. Really liked her head, brought back good memories! Great bone & large tight feet, her coat fell back into place & is coarse textured. Good width all through with tidy elbows, has tad too much tuck up. Best mover in class. 2nd Stanton Chanel Legenda Mody Iz Zamka Melvin (imp Bel), very typical profile with straight well boned limbs, correctly shaped slightly arched broad skull. Decent shoulders. Deep in brisket & body all through with a super straight jacket but her eyes were a little loose at the corners & closer behind moving than 1st. 3rd Lloyd Stelamah Zafirah Hefo Cewrirdwr, Feminine W/B not quite the head of first 2 but overall very pleasing balanced shape who is sound & energetic her tail set is high so flies on the move spoiling her side profile. Shame as she is well put together.
MLB, 5.
1st Groves Newgraden Hope & Glory for Bridgestone JW I see she is litter sister to my CC/BIS what a super litter! She fills the eye with balance, strong bone & substance. She is in full coat but there is plenty of body underneath. What really stood out & gave her the class was her foot perfect movement. Her pigment is excellent for a Brown. Strong neck of correct length. Level firm topline & deep in brisket & flank. 2nd Watson Newfangled Yes You Did at Cacodom approaching 3. Super head of lovely typical shape with a melting expression. She has great straight limbs with adequate width front & back. She hasn’t a profuse coat, what you see is what you get. She is well boned. She has a table top back-so strong & level. Moved with purpose. 3rd Hosie Shadowrise Wild Fire, Rich shade of Brown, Not as wide in skull as 1 & 2 but excellent ear set. Plenty of body substance, strong boned & great large round tight feet she stands 4 square. Super rear pasterns ( hock joint to ground being short) on all these 3 girls with lovely sloping croups to the best set of tails.4th Burtons Vodahond Bluebell, VHC Stanton Lathams Mileoak Hocus Pocus JW
LB,4.
1st Hietschold Davistell Babee Love at Chrishelkate (Ai) strong bitch with a beautiful head, shape & expression. Just wish her lips/pigment was black. Substantial in body with level underline. Correctly textured dull black jacket although a little wavy. She has strong quarters which she used to advantage to win the class 2nd Popple Mileoak Wishing on a Star JW approaching 3yrs. She was giving her handler a hard time today. She gives the impression of being steep in stop but she isn’t. I don’t know why people keep fluff on top of their heads, really spoils the shape especially when they have no reason to hide anything. She is reasonably broad in back, has a firm topline which she retains on the move, lovely straight coat. 3rd Probyn Oialt Climbing Back, I really like the size, shape & overall balance of this nearly 4yr old. Pleasing head although would prefer tad darker smaller eyes. She has good front assembly with elbows in line with wither & fitting neatly. Plenty of body, abdomen coat needs to grow (presume been shaven) to even her underline. Lovely croup, moved freely. 4th Ryans King of Helluland Quinn for Bearnessitie (imp Svk)
OB,3.
1st Constable Valhalabears Just in Time, approaching 4 this Brown bitch caught my eye on the first move. Her balanced construction with muscle coverage & excellent shoulder placement allows her to move with reach & drive, she is feminine but still has substance. Has a melting expression that would put anyone at ease if she was swimming up to save you. Her ribbing goes well back so she has a short strong loin. She is perfectly angulated & scores in body condition not an ounce of fat on her. She outmoved everything in this class & indeed the final line up, she’s a smaller bitch but I couldn’t deny her the top honour of CC,Best Brown Bitch, RBIS. 2nd Bulls King of Helluland Blue Organza (imp Svk) larger size & fully mature at 6, beautiful jacket totally flat & dense. This girls toes were so well arched giving perfect catlike feet. I really liked her head – perfectly balanced. She has adequate width all through. Lovely long tail but tendency to come above the horizontal moving. 3rd Popple Mileoak Loch Noir ShCEx a lot to like about this girl but for me she lacks upperarm so she’s rather upright in front so lacks reach in front movement. Strong head with correct ear shape, size & set. She is well off for bone, very deep in brisket. Super broad back & croup, good width between rear legs. Moved ok behind.
ChB 3.
1st McDonald Ch Sandbears Dreams and Wishes only 2 ½ so more to give, very well presented in great body condition. Another that gives impression of steep stop although she hasn’t, she has correct clean head proportions, super dark brown eyes, square muzzle, your hands flow over this girl, great tight feet with strong slightly sloping front pasterns, she has the straightest jacket, lovely low underline leading to good bend of stifle great sound short rear pasterns, so excels in movement which won her the class & RCC. 2nd Lloyd CH Cewrirdwr Morgana, Like this lady’s overall size. She has good head qualities, ear let level with brow & relatively small which was a nice find, as was her eye shape, colour & tight rims. She stands on well boned straight limbs with good width all through body. She has the required slightly sloping croup which leads to a long tail touching her hock joint. She moved out well but couldn’t quite match 1st movement today. 3rd Mills & Chatburn Ch Oialt Back with a Icy Three JW so much to like about this girl, she has the most beautiful eyes, bone width & substance but today her soft topline let her down.
SO BlackB,3,1.
1st Farrar Ch Darpeak Starlight Express, Good size & approaching 5 this lady is at her best. Strong all through with the best of toplines with a deep underline to match. She has a well proportioned head & muzzle wrinkle free with reasonably tight flews. Having a well-set neck of desired length flowing into good lay of shoulder. She has ample bone, well matched angulation & plenty of width through her solid body, I would prefer less waves to her coat. Moves with purpose wish she had a lower tail carriage. 2nd Watson Newfangled Yes You Did at Cacodom (2nd mid limit)
SOBrown 2.
1st Pallett Ch Yulla for Sheenmarie Von Baywatch (imp Deu) JW. Lovely size 5 ¾ seems the mature girls have the size. She has the best colour eyes I have seen on a Brown, although this is probably the biggest entry of Browns at a show I have ever had & definitely the best quality. Her eye shade absolutely blends with her coat colour, they are relatively small & almond shaped. She has a well-proportioned head her ears are rather large & low set although perfect triangular shape. She is free from any dewlap. Great bone structure, neat elbows. She is very pleasing on the eye, free easy mover, considered for the RCC. 2nd Groves Newgraden Hope and Glory for Bridgestone Jw (1st mid limit) really close call, splitting hairs, 2 super girls.
