National Gundog Association

Breed: German Wirehaired Pointer

German Wirehaired Pointers - National Gundog Association 2nd August 2026

Thank you to everyone for your entries and accepting my decisions in a sporting manner.

The wire coat is one of the most important features of the breed, it is the reason the breed was created in

Germany, the harsh, tight fitting wire coat is what gives the dog protection in dense cover and icy

water, Remember it is a MAXIMUM of 4cm in length and whilst coats today were not overly long, some could

have been harsher.

GWP Veteran Dog:

1ST Lux vom Maibrook (Imp Deu) (Dr E & Dr D Blanco & Osborne)

Always loved this boy, 7 years old with a correct typical head, slightly rounded skull, darkest of eye with an

intelligent and kind expression. Strong deep muzzle, nicely furnished, broad open nostrils with excellent dark

pigment. Strong neck with well boned legs and tight knit feet. Deep chest and well ribbed back, firm slightly

sloping topline and enough rear angle, moved out tidy. Best Veteran in Breed.

GWP Puppy Dog:

1ST Urvum Hero at Beanalrem (Imp Ita) (Miss H & Mrs J & Mr B Vine & Hassell & Nash)

Very promising young boy who is nearly 12 months old, I am sure he will have a bright future. He has a typical

head, kind expression and a correct deep muzzle with good furnishings Strong neck of correct length leading

into excellent shoulders and correct upper arm angle. Well bodied, chest reaching to elbows, good bone with

tight knit feet. Good rear angulation and harsh coat. Moved out very well, Best Puppy in Breed and later in the

day pulled out all the stops to take Best Puppy in Show, huge congratulations.

2ND Firfame My Boy Ajax (Miss H Pickering)

8 month old boy with a lighter frame than 1 and who needs time. Lovely head and eye, broad nose and wide

open nostrils, kind expression, would benefit from adding some weight on him to make a better picture. Good

coat texture, needs to settle and come together on the move.

GWP Graduate Dog:

1ST Woodybrook Guy (Miss L & Mr A Mallinson & Mclaughlin)

Black and white boy maturing nicely at just 2 years old, correct head shape, deep muzzle and very dark eyes, full

beard and eyebrows. Well bodied, moved well and handled beautifully.

GWP Limit Dog:

1ST Glenquin Major at Yohenoak (Mr & Mrs S Robson)

This boy pushed hard for top honours, he is litter brother to my CC and res CC winners and they are all very

similar in type, build and construction. This boy has a beautiful head, dark eyes, good furnishings, harsh coat and

is well off for bone and substance. Deep chest, tight feet, well bodied and excellent rear quarters, really liked

him. Moves well but just a little too proud of his tail.

GWP Open Dog:

1ST Turnbull & Keene)

Sh Ch Glenquin The Colonel at Elagram JW (Mr G D & Mrs E & Miss A E Turnbull & Turnbull & Mr S Keene)

There was no shortage of beautiful heads today and this boy is no exception, kind dark eye, well furnished with

full beard and eyebrows, well off for bone and substance, tight feet, excellent topline and rear angulation, deep

chest and coat of good texture he powered around the ring to take the CC and BOB.

2ND Sh Ch/Bel Ch Glenquin The General (Mr P, Mrs L & Miss N Johnston)

Litter brother to my CC winner and Limit winner and same comments apply, this boy is the strongest. Well off for

bone and body, tight feet, excellent topline and well angulated rear, moved with lots of drive covering plenty of

ground. Res CC.

GWP Veteran Bitch:

1ST Germanus Dutch Delight (Mrs S & Mr A Jones)

7 year old girl with a lovely head, super beard and eyebrows, kind expression with dark eyes. Straight front

and excellent tight feet. Strong topline and deep chest. Moved out OK but by this class the sun was beginning to

heat up and some were feeling it.

GWP Novice Bitch:

1ST Bora Dreams of Little Prince (Miss H Pickering)

2 year old girl with a pretty head, kind expression and good eye colour. Straight front and tight feet. Deep chest

and good topline and tail set, carried correctly, would benefit from a little more body.

GWP Open Bitch:

1ST Sh Ch Caldewriver Storm N' Teacup for Katillien JW (Miss K A O’brien)

Pretty bitch with lots of ring presence, always happy and wagging her tail which does give her the edge. Lovely

head with correct slightly rounded skull, good ear set, strong muzzle and wide open nostrils. Super length of

neck which gives her the lovely head carriage she has, correct length of upper arm. Correct topline, tail set and

carriage. Good rear angles with strong short hocks. Moved with drive and purpose CC

Ir Sh Ch Beechillawn Mint Chip Ir Jch Cjw 22 Cent JW Cent W TAF (Mr P & Mrs D  Lovatt & Mr S Gettings)
