Midland Whippet Club

18th October 2026

I would like to firstly thank the Midland Whippet Club for giving me the opportunity to judge at their 2026 Championship Show. Secondly to my two excellent ring stewards, it was a bonus to have them supporting me and keeping everything running so smoothly. Thirdly and by no means least I thank you the exhibitors for entering your whippet bitches under me, that is a privilege that never goes unnoticed especially in these times where cost is being considered in many hobbies, we participate in.

I was pleased with the entry and equally their presentation on the day, I was extremely spoilt for choice in a lot of classes, and I dare say on another day, places may have been different.

VB(7-9Yrs) (10, 1)

1. Short, Mr D G & Mrs Y L, CH Collooney Dita Von Tease – a dark brindle bitch with white blaze and socks that I have judged before and thought equally highly of her, of perfect size and gave a truly faultless performance again. Feminine head, dark eye, lovely ear set, correct jaw, good length of neck into correct shoulders, good front infill and a super spring of pastern. Flowing topline with the correct rise over loin and shapely underline. Although now in her veteran years she continues to move around the ring effortlessly, long may it continue to be.

2. Wilkinson Miss J, Citycroft Starfall JW VW ShCEx OSW - fawn bitch that has done equally well under me in the past albeit some time ago and again now in her veteran years she continues to be presented in superb condition, full of breed quality, correct front and rears and holds her balance and shape on the move. Moved true coming, going and is always pushing for the top honours.

3. Johnston & Wilson, Mrs H, Mr L & Mr J, Ch Cyangrange My Cuppa Tea of Danluke JW

VB (10Yrs +) (10, 1)

1. Lain Miss S, Lolani Light up the room – Just coming up to 11yrs of age and headed this class on her free movement around the ring. Pleasing shape with correct amount & position of topline, length & elegance of neck Moved out and around the ring with surprising enthusiasm

2. Vaughan-Wall Mrs A, Shirotae Solo Surprise VW – nothing oversized here but slightly taller and rangier than the class winner, light fawn, feminine and well developed. Standing or on the move she covers good ground and still drives around the ring of a bitch much younger in age.

3. Whitaker-Crosby, Mrs J A, Cobyco Should be the Last at Mulcair JW ShCM VW

MBP (14,3)

1. Spademan, Mycroft, Morris & Waddell, Mrs F, Mrs S, Mrs L, & Mr G, Wentvalley Gosh She’s Posh at Crosscop – brindle bitch of good size and calmness of one so young, handled to perfection to ensure the purpose of the day is to enjoy oneself first and foremost. Very feminine head with a lovely eye, nice reach of neck and excellent topline, a touch long in construction but she has a long way to go for her body to develop and mature on and settle into the finished article. She excelled on the move with a long low stride just taking1st place.

2. Winkley-Balmer, Winkley & Burton, Mr J, Ms R & Miss S, Falconcrag Seen Ya Coming to Edenwhip – Quality red fawn, white blaze/feet, put together just right for one so young and with scope for her front pasterns and feet to strengthen as she matures on, taking the whole showing experience like a mature adult. Another handled to perfection which helps to settle and can sometimes be the difference on the day, her tail did fly occasionally on the move but hey she is a young puppy and this will sort itself out in time.

3. Vaughan-Wall, Mrs A, Shirotae Classic Allusion

PB (15,4)

1. Akerboom, Van Der Schaaf & Perkins, Mr J W, Mr K & Mrs C, Crème Anglaise’s Time to shine – Light fawn brindle, prettiest feminine expression, dark pigmentation, good ear set, good long strong neck into a correct front, plenty to develop here into the finished product but nothing exaggerated and correct for size at this young age. Calm & confident, stood well over plenty of ground on her white socks. Behaved impeccably on the table for her experienced handler, for her young age moved well out and back and drove around the ring like a seasoned adult. Caught your eye from the moment she entered the ring with her quality and confidence. Later learned her litter brother had taken the same result in the dog classes. Promising future ahead for both.

2. Fleming Mrs L, Flerrow Love Like a Bomb – older puppy bitch than the winner and therefore developed further in size and body as is to be expected. pleasing feminine head shape with that desired dark pigmentation, shoulders well laid, enough bone, good legs and feet, body well balanced, enough angulation front and rear with nothing overdone here, moved soundly. Another very promising puppy.

3. Wilton-Clarke, Ms J, Shalfleet Gabrielle

JB (11,2)

1. Short, Mr D G & Mrs Y L, Collooney Senorita Sisi – light fawn brindle bitch, head well balanced, nice eye and expression dark pigmentation that one would expect given her coat colour, clean neck and shoulders, bladed bone, good legs and feet, good depth of chest and ribbed back, enough angulation front and rear, can tend to drop her topline on the move but could improve as she matures on but that said her foot fall is excellent coming and going.

2. Ellis Mr T K, Silkridge Silhoutte Over Railfield - Quality black female with the pleasing ‘S’ shape on display. Starting from her feminine head, moving your hands down her neck, onto her topline and falling over her hind legs into her tail your hands just flow uninterrupted. Whilst she would benefit from maturing on, she has well balanced front and rear angulation, with moderation throughout but she was just a touch unsettled today on the movement around the ring.

3. Howgate&hull, Mr M & Ms Y, Palmik Raindrop JW

YB (9, 1)

1. Yacoby-Wright, Mrs L, Cobyco Capture the Moment - A lovely pale fawn brindle, well put together in every way, she is a feminine girl of correct size, well balanced and moved with purpose and drive. True coming and going with perfect foot fall. Another quality bitch from this well-known kennel, a promising future ahead as she moves up the classes.

2. Spademan, Mycroft, Morris & Waddell, Mrs F, Mrs S, Mrs L, & Mr G, Supeta’s Too Glam to Giva Damn with Crosscop – Fawn bitch/white blaze of correct size, feminine headset, nice neck, good tuck up and topline. Moved well out and back and in profile pushing hard for the 1st place.

3. Roth-Brown, Mrs D, Edenwhip DayDream Believer

MB (7,2)

1. Mrs L Morris, Mr G Waddell & Mrs F Spademan, Crosscop Oops I Did it Again with Supeta – Red brindle, white blaze/socks, pretty fascial expression, nice ears, good front infill, long in body diminishing the tuck up underline, need to watch the tail on movement, moved well around the ring.

2. Bower, Miss A M, Nattah Chasing the Wind to Courtbirch – darker fawn bitch, good for front and rear angulation and adequate on the move.

3. Thomas & James, Mr B & Miss A, Plushcourt Golden Lace for Kevdon

SBB (18, 4)

1. Partridge Mrs E C, Ohoka Top Tuppence - A good for size fawn/white socks pretty bitch. Her head was feminine and she had a lovely expression, good ear set, long strong neck, I would have preferred more return of upper arm, good spring of pastern and stood on good feet, taking this class on her movement coming and going and in profile.

2. Brierley, Mrs T, Wentvalley Gosh How Posh – 9mth light fawn/white socks bitch very nice type, good head proportions, nice eye and expression clean neck and front assembly, body well balanced giving a pleasing outline. Now settled in this her second class of the day she moved well both ways and around the ring to gain her a well-deserved placing in this class.

3. Saxby, Miss K D, Sandspring Sophia Loren

GB (13, 1)

1. Mallinson, Mrs E K & Miss L, Edenwhip a Moment in Thyme - 2yr old correct sized bitch, red fawn brindle/white blaze and socks. An overall pretty feminine bitch that screams whippet at you with all the correct curves, handled perfectly again by this handler and matched him with her foot fall and profile movement to take this class. One that I would expect to be taking top honours when on her top form.

2. Johnston & Wilson, Mrs H & Mr J, Danluke Legs Eleven – 15mth light fawn bitch, white socks, white muzzle, dark eyes, rose ears, giving away in size and length to the class winner but by no means showing any unwanted exaggerations. Another bitch handled carefully and this showed in her favour on the out and back and profile movement taking 2nd in a very good class.

3. Arbuthnot, Mrs V, Lolani Crystal Moon

PGB (14, 2)

1. Coulter Mrs V, Collooney Strawberry Wine – party red fawn/white, Dark pigmentation, dark eye, nice ears, strong neck, good front and pasterns, good tuck up and topline with correct rear angulation. Moved out and back well but tended to drop her topline on the move though she was a touch unsettled/distracted.

2. Thomas Ms M, Bowdonia Elphaba JW – differing in type to the winner, light brindle bitch with a feminine head and a pretty expression but the appearance of a strong bitch overall. Good front angulation, well sprung ribs, good depth of chest, good in both underline and topline; overall all in proportion. Good movement and handled well.

3. Lain, Miss S, Lolani Tennessee Princess

MLB (17, 6)

1. Wood, Mrs N J, Edenwhip Harvest Moon – Another quality bitch from this young kennel. Red fawn, white blaze/socks. Nothing overdone here from the tip of her nose to the end of her correctly carried tail. Good topline, tuck up, nice length of body, good front pasterns, correct rear angulation, moved out well coming and going and handled perfectly around the ring.

2. Woodward, Ms E A, Tervanty Magic Dragon JW – Another quality bitch from this class- slightly taller than winner, light fawn/white party, dark pigmentated feminine headset, good front set, pasterns and tuck up, correct rear angulation, just preferred the topline and profile movement on the winner.

3. Newton, Miss E W, Nevedith Hi Jinks

LB (11, 1)

1. Howgate & Hull, Mr M & Ms Y, Tervanty Dragon Song at Palmik JW – Another quality bitch from this litter, her litter sister taking 2nd in the previous class. A light fawn/white socks bitch, very pretty head with perfect rose ears which she was using throughout the class, showing more curves and angulations than her sister she was a picture on the table, standing in the line and she held this shape throughout her movement out and back and in profile showing that perfect daisy cutting action; a joy to watch. Pleased to place her 1st in this class and during the challenge she stepped up a gear and owned the BCC. I learned afterwards this gave her the last CC to claim her champion title; thoroughly deserved. Later taking Best in Show under the agreement of the dog judge

2. Lister & Swarbrick, Ms M J & Miss E & Mr T C, Edenwhip Ima Bright Star – fawn/white blaze, pigmentation matching the coat colour, good headset, rose ears, nothing exaggerated front or rear, nice topline, good underline. Just preferred the movement and tail set on the winner but that no bad show coming second to the winner on this day. Overall, yet another quality bitch from this young kennel who should be very proud of what they are consistently producing.

3. Short, Mr D G & Mrs Y L, Collooney Bellissima Bloom JW

OB (12, 3)

1. Morris, Waddell, Spademan and Mycroft, Mrs L, Mr G, Mrs F & Mrs S, Ch Crosscop Temptation to Supeta - Light fawn brindle bitch very nice type shown in good coat and condition, lovely head proportions, dark eye and pretty expression, ears well set, strong neck plenty length going into well laid shoulders, straight legs, nice feet, good tuck up and shapely topline. Moved well both ways covering the ground with ease. Pleased to award this bitch the RCC who then went onto to taking reserve best in show behind the BCC winner.

2. Akerboom & Peters, Mr J W & Mrs H, Ch Crème Anglaise’s Entourage On tour – High-quality darker brindle feminine bitch with white blaze/socks, dark eyes/pigmentation matching that of the coat colour. Correct in size, good curves, angulations in general and overall breed type, demonstrating perfect footfall out and back but just preferred the front angulation and profile movement on the class winner.

3. Short, Mr D G & Mrs Y L , Ch Collooney Celeste
