SCOTTISH KENNEL CLUB

ALL BREED SHOW

14TH-17TH May 2026

My thanks must go to the Officers & Committee for inviting me to judge the Utility Group at their all-breed show. As usual the show was well run, which is by no mean feat, running two general Championship Shows on the same days. As usual the hospitality was fabulous, and it is always a pleasure to judge for them. Thanks must also go to the stewards that worked tirelessly for all 4 days, the show could run without you. I would also like to thank the breed judges who put through some fantastic dogs to me to judge. Decisions were hard, but they had to be made.

1st Place Ch Dream High Kai Kennel Afterglow Adrenaline (imp), Breed: Black Poodle (Toy) (Mr T & Mr J Isherwood & Lynn) – what can I say about this young lady. She caught my eye when she first came in the ring with her attitude and movement, and she didn’t disappoint when it came to the hands on. So well balanced, with strong foreface & muzzle, beautiful eye & expression, correct skull, enough length of neck and didn’t disappoint with her front and rear angulation, her body was deep with well sprung ribs, strong hindquarters with well let down hocks, her movement so light but with plenty of drive. Presented and handled to perfection, couldn’t be denied first place. Delighted to see her carry on to win Best in Show. Well deserved.

2nd Place Ch Michandy It’s Showtime at Pupstar JW, Breed: Black Poodle (Miniature) (Mr A Lee-Morris) – this young man I have been judging since a puppy, and I have given him a Puppy Group at Championship level, and Best of Breed, in the past. He still didn’t disappoint today. And so well balanced and he is a masculine dog, without any coarseness, his head head is long and fine, well chiselled, and strong muzzle, correct almond eye & expression, well set ears, strong neck, well developed shoulder, nice width of front, super ribbing & strong loin, holding a good topline & tailset, and made the most of the big ring. Really pushed the winner today.

3rd Place Ch Olijah Going in Deep JW, Breed: Brindle French Bulldog (Miss O Timms). Another who I have judged before as a puppy and he has fulfilled his early potential into a mature male, masculine without being over done in any way. Square head, with well-defined stop, nearly flat skull with those correct “bat ears” carried upright. Well opened nostrils, and square jaw, with correct dentition, good eye shape giving a good expression, cobby body, well sprung ribs, holding that all important topline to the breed. Muscular rear, which he used on the move, another giving his all to his handler.

4th Place Ch Penbro Carbon Copy, Breed: Salt & Pepper Miniature Schnauzer (Miss R & Miss L Woods) – another youngster I have judged before, and he just keeps getting better as he matures. Well built male, with a super head & expression, head tapered correctly whilst keeping a strong muzzle with strong jaw. Dark eye which gave a bit of a wicked expression, ears well set, neck had the desires shape to it, he was parallel front and rear, his body was correct proportions with well sprung ribs, short loin, and holding a solid topline. Well-muscled rear which he used on the move.

I also shortlisted the Eurasier Kaydanmy Fuel to the Fire JA (Miss K & Miss M Parkinson & Dunhill-Hall), the Dalmatian Ch Cubalibre Wishing Star JW (Mrs B Quayle) & the German Spitz (Klein) Biggi Best Beast with Longsdale (Imp Lav) (Mr G & Mr D Pearce & Francis)
