DRIFFIELD CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

August 30th 2026

I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge at this show, it was a very enjoyable experience. The overall standard of bitches in every class was very high and in many cases it was a difficult choice.

Together with my co-judge we awarded BOB to Sh.Ch Berlan get Up and Go at Sandylands

RBOB to Talard Whirlwind, BPIB to Wynfaul Tango and BVIB to Hightrevoron Forget me Not.

Labrador bitches

Special Beginners (7, 1abs)

1. Robertson’s Tweedledum Dippety Do of Eavora: A solid, well constructed yellow bitch, had a feminine head good pigmentation and kind expression. Good length of neck leading to well placed shoulders and straight front legs. Held her topline well, short coupled. Moved steadily around the ring with a very happy otter tail.(BSpB)

2. Head’s Quinstone Sapphire Sunset: A chocolate girl with a typical Labrador head and expression. Very happy to be in the ring. I preferred the movement of 1, but otherwise it was a very close call between these two bitches.

3. Edwards’ Simply the Best Meri- Stuart at Bearstone

Veteran (8, 4abs)

1. Artingstall’s Hightrevoron Forget me Not: A very feminine head, well laid shoulders with good angulation front and back. She has a nicely barrelled chest, still able to hold her topline when standing and on the move. She enjoyed wagging her lovely otter tail. Her well developed 2nd thigh helped her move well around the ring, with plenty of drive.(BVIB)

2. Baron’s Mariank Vanity Fair at Landebec: Another well formed yellow bitch with a nicely shaped head and good pigmentation. Lovely dark and well shaped eye, deep chest and barrel ribbed leading to good topline. Moved well.

3. Collins’ Carromer Worth a Glance at Kaspair

Minor puppy (10, 1)

1. Phillips’ Rochevale Hafren at Sheenaron: At 7 months old, this yellow bitch still is developing but she is showing all the correct attributes for a super bitch. She has a very feminine head with good pigmentation and a very kind expression. She has a lovely straight front and well placed shoulders, short coupling and good rear angulation. She moved around the ring saying “look at me!” I look forward to watching her in the future.

2. Hopkinson’s Rocheby Miss Goodnight: Another youngster who should do well in the future. Only 6 months old and her first show but taking it all in her stride. She is showing correct construction and good angulation. I preferred the movement of 1. I look forward to seeing her develop in the next few months.

3. Smith’s Flyenpyg Swynona Ryder

Puppy (12 )

1. Percival’s Wynfaul Tango: A well- balanced 10 month old yellow puppy. She already has a good depth of chest and correct angulation of front and rear. Her 2nd thigh is developing and she has a good turn of stifle. She moved around the ring with a good length of stride, holding her topline all the way.(BPB, BPIB)

2. Proctor’s Acredam Miss Marple of Penkaric: This 11month old yellow bitch caught my eye as she came into the ring, with her excellent pigmentation and very dark eye. Her legs to body ratio was good and her front and rear angulation was correct. Her 2nd thigh needs to develop a little more but she moved well around the ring.

3. Jones’ Lembas Willow at Serenjar

1. Braddon’s Tendlewood Only Yesterday: A good looking yellow bitch. A nicely shaped head with good eye colour and typical Labrador expression. 1. Percival’s Wynfaul New Years Eve JW:I have watched this bitch from the ringside on a few occasions and have always admired her balance and femininity. She has a beautiful head and expression. Her front and rear angulation are very good and help her move around the ring with drive, but keeping her topline all the time and using her otter tail to advantage.
